consolport has made things a thousand times easier. Consoleport does a lot of things for you. But wow has some peculiarities and you have to work a bit to set it up perfectly for yourself and learn these things. Some things had to be set via commands or text editor and the console port addon can do this in the settings. But if you don't know the settings, things may happen that you don't understand.
@@kevinj24535 yeah, I've more or less broke my consoleport it seems. I can't switch keybindings in consoleport anymore. I just use steam input controller settings to get most everything working. I'm trying to still utilize some of consoleport along side it all. but some stuff like the radial game menu aren't working just yet.
Nice video! I started playing again recently after not playing since MoP, after all these years my hands are not the same, its tough for me to play a lot on a keyboard and that addon is just a life saver, works amazingly. I dont know how viable it is in a harder content, but I was able to heal heroics just fine and dont really care about pushing too hard
Thanks for the video - I'm fortunate enough to not have any impairments, but as I'm getting nearer to my 40s, I find mouse and keyboard is getting less and less comfortable for me. Been dabbling with using controller for WoW since the option was there in early Legion/late Draenor, but now thanks to this playlist you're setting up, looks like I'll be able to play my and my wife's favourite game in comfort :)
Common misunderstand is you don't have to target players to heal them in WOW. you can set up your Raid Frame per party group and then casting the spell with no one targeted will charge the spell on your cursor then all you have to do click on the frame of the party member you want to heal. it is how most raids do it.
Thank you for doing this. I have nerve issues so can't use mouse and keyboard for long periods of gaming without losing all feeling in both hands. But I can play with a controller no problem. This helps soooo much! I can play WoW now!
Just came across your channel from a Paladin guide. Decided to see what other videos you have, and turns out you’re also a controller player! I’m a brand new wow player, but I’m LOVING it on my Steam Deck. Great content-easy sub!
this saved me wow. im a long time ff14 controller player and i tried getting used to keyboard in wow but my wrist cramps so fast from it. this makes it all seem so familiar, thank you!
A lot of great stuff. Thank you Kephas. One note for future videos. If you need to show group play, like targetting team members, you can now use follower dungeons. The NPC followers will wait for you forever. Let's you show group UI. Loved the video. I will watch again. Off to purchase a dualsense. :)
For me, the Steamdeck is the best "controller". The 4 buttons on the back are great because you have so many functions and abilities in wow. Plus the two trackpads. Many things are faster with a mouse than with an analog stick. I use the left trackpad as a mouse and left mouse click and the right trackpad is my mouse wheel scroll.
This video is awesome, I am planning to play WoW for the first time with the new expansion, but I hate to play with keyboard and mouse, so I'll use your preset
Damn I love your UI! Especially the visual clarity. I play on the TV from far away and this looks like a great solution to tiny texts. Do you by chance have profiles for the other addons shown in this video?
Same thing here! I’m coming back to wow for the first time in YEARS and am only doing it because we can play via controller in essentially the same way as FF14
The software for the ps5 edge controller is now on pc too so its even better! Can change all the button mappings and it has those extra buttons underneath
I've bought Elite series 2 controller and wondered if it is possible to play WoW like that. Among all other guides yours is easiest to understand and very clear! Ty so much!
The layout of the actionbar keys there are perfect for people playing on an Azeron keypad...with a couple tweaks. It would be great to have it so that you can just switch between KB/M and controller.
You should be able to. With consoleport enabled and the controller connected, the KB+M still function normally. Since every keybind in wow can have 2 hotkeys, one can be controller and the other kb/m. The only thing that I could think of is that the visual hotkey labels on the action bar will always be the controller. I'm not sure if there's a way to switch that.
@@The_Kephas The labeling isn’t an issue. Fire me I want to have my actionbar buttons visually arranged to reflect whatever device (ie profile) that I’m using at the moment. An auto switch feature would be great. I tried to get my bars setup similar to yours and I gave up after 30 minutes of getting frustrated at the lack of a snapping grid. Does not help that unless you are actively moving a group you cannot see the frame they are anchored too.
I play the game with a mouse controller set up. Been playing this way since vanilla wow. Using xpadder. Can heal tank dps and have buttons to keybind every class in the game. I main rogue and play high content high m+ got title with this set up I have. Good video
Can you possibly help me with something? I add spells to the action bar in consoleport but they dont show up on the ring. I can still press "X" for an ability but the default layout at the bottom is always blank.
I'm a try hard mouse&keyboard gamer since forever. I think this is SO cool! I would love to try playing in a controler, but it the learning curve just seems way too steep for me... I don't have it in me... 😂
It all comes down to muscle memory which is always hard at first, but I totally get where you're coming from! I think part of the reason why I've played with a controller so long is because of how hard it was for me to switch to play games with KB+M.
Tested your consoleport setup, works really similar to FFXIV which is great! If i wanted to add more bindings, lets say Double tab RT to display another bar. How would i go about to do that? Might need a few more bindings then 30 for certain classes.
Unless I missed it, are you using ds4 software to get the pc to recognize the controller? If so then doesn’t that tell the pc it’s a Xbox controller? I’m having this issue
Does the touchpad only work when wired in via usb? i cannot get my ps5 dualsense controller touchpad to work via bluetooth. When I connect via usb, touchpad works, but I cannot click on anything with the touchpad.
Does the console port ability to move through menus work with other adding that replace the character or spellbook menus or whatever? I would probably try gw2ui if it does, the menu is very controller friendly looking at least
I've found it's a mixed bag. Like Narcissus, Dialogue UI, and Baginator are all controller friendly. You can always try it out and see. GW2 UI is a solid choice so it would be cool if they are compatible.
@@The_Kephasit does not seem like they are. The controller inputs seem to work like any default menu, but it’s a mixture of the 2 UIs, so I am guessing that it’s just trying to apply the gw2ui to the console port ui and breaking it. The frames and hud stuff works great. Map, health, everything, but you would have to disable all menus except maybe the bag.
After setting up console port and all my bindings, I got into a dungeon and my entire bar setup changed. Then when I leave the group it changes back. How do I fix that?
I love using ur stuff to just chill on the couch and farm o driud, but i would love it even more to have an updated ElvUI profile or even better all ur profiles available to mix and match ;)
I haven't had a lot of experience with healing, but I'd say it's somewhat doable. The raid cursor works if not a bit rough around the edges. It's not as polished as how it is in Final Fantasy 14, but it's not impossible. At least not at a certain level.
Hi there! I was wondering what you use for your health bar? I absolutely LOVE this setup and want all of it, I'm trying to get back into WoW with limitations on my body now and all of this is just incredible!
Question about ground targeting. The camera also moves while I am trying to position the target circle on the ground. Makes it very difficult to position. I noticed in your video that the camera does not move when you move the targetting circle. How do you do that?
been playing only ffxiv for a long time, I cant for the life of me playing WoW with a keyboard and mouse so I needed this to make it even playable for me. Question, how do you make the cross hotbars larger? ive been fiddling around but cant seem to scale the entire thing bigger
WoW doesn't have all the functionality that FF does in regards to a controller. I feel like I've gotten pretty close here, but targeting, especially party and raid, is one of the big differences. That and a few other differences means that you can get close, but it probably won't be 1:1.
@@The_Kephas nice as long as i can get it close enough since i still use the mouse even when playing ff 14 anyway alo do i just coppy that text wall or something for the profile?
Absolutely love this. Been looking for something like this for a while getting back into the game!. How do you show/hide the main non-modifier buttons? so the basic abilities along with jump as A (for xbox)? Thanks!
You control movement with the joystick. I have the jump button set to triangle so I can double tap that to start flight. Hitting it while in the air does the uplift ability. The other abilities are simply on the action bar so I use them as I would any ability. It actually feels quite natural.
Great video, thanks a lot! I play FFXIV so this really helped me a lot. I wanted to resize the buttons, so I adjusted the scale value, but it failed...
