Wore this tape out on my car stereo driving around back in '82. Loved 'carefree' when riding my bike.

I met Phil Keaggy twice - he did a concert in Medford in the 80s with Brian Duncan at the Medford high school in Oregon. I was going up the stairs and there he was all by himself and I had a chance to talk to him.
A great humble guy. But again at a Christmas party back in the early 1990s when he was doing clinics at musicians friend where I worked. The rumor was he was Paul McCartney related in someway. And that he played at a wedding for Paul McCartney. I had a chance to ask him about it and he kind of snickered and said no we’re not related. But years later he put out a video where he gave Paul a beautiful custom acoustic guitar at his daughter’s wedding. And you can find it on TH-cam and Phil talks about first meeting Paul and it must’ve been great to hear both of them play together because Phil had the exact guitar! Just like John and Paul used to do!! Can you imagine the harmonies with these guys?

I think this is Phil's best album. Certainly my favorite, anyway. I'm blessed to have several of his albums still in my collection. I keep them in a corner I refer to as.... The vinyl resting place.😉

Phil is and always has been a world respected guitarist by Christians and the secular world. His voice is peaceful, his words are soft like a hot knife cutting through butter. What a timeless testimony he has been and this album is brilliant.

Listening to Phil since 1974! What a good man and what a solid artist. His guitar is the best played instrument 🎸 ever!

One of my first albums when I got saved in 1983! He had that McCartney voice but the guy can rip on guitar like nobody!
I think this is one of his best albums!

Omg. I had been looking for Phil’s old classic albums from the 70s& 80s. As 1972 GenX, I grew up in Christian home in Detroit listening to all the great Christian contemporary-rock artists. Phil was one of my absolute favorites! Thank you for posting! ❤

I agree. Carefree is so freeing. Whole album is great. I wish we could go back to those days but that's not possible. There's gonna be a terrible loss in my heart when Phil finally gets "promoted" but we will have a tremendous legacy from an old friend.

I got born again in 1978 and have been listening to most of Phil's music since it came out I remember hearing back in 1983 that Jimmy Hendrix said Phil Keaggy was the best guitar player who ever lived. I don't know why (but I have my speculations) he almost never broke out with a great guitar solo but when he did it was incredible and very brief.
God bless our host for providing us with all of these great, what I like to call, Jesus Jams. And for that... I Thank You 🙏

I first heard phil back in 72 when I was in 9th grade. They took us to the gym and there was Glass Harp setting up. None of us knew anything about them, so we figured some hokey local group. As soon as they started, there was no going back. Phil amazed me with his skill, and especially his timing. I knew he was destined to be somebody in the world of music. Amazing

Used to have this album, and I loved it. If I recall correctly, it was the great Hadley Hockensmith playing bass on most tracks. (Phil played the bass himself on some tracks, but in the liner notes he mentioned that he wished he could make it sound as good as Hadley.)

An old saying to be sure, but GOD works in mysterious ways. In your way, he gave you the ability of writing and song. For me, playing drums. Although I'm old now(65), and arthritis keeps me from playing, I love my Jesus. You keep doing the thing that God guides you to do. And pass your truth on to younger folks. After all my years here on planet Earth,, I've never been quite sure of my Christian mission. Now ? I think I found it!
