AND, he plays guitar with missing the middle finger on his right hand (from an accident as a youngster). So his finger- picking is phenomenal!
We rented an apartment to him when he was writing & releasing these old albums. He and Bernadette would invite me in, and he'd play me some new song he'd just written. God used him, among others, to bring me into The Kingdom!

To me, he is the greatest guitarist
    And beautiful voice.
    God bless you Phil
My family and I saw you in El Paso, Texas
And thanks for allowing me to talk to you before and after your concert
And also, thank you for the gift you sent me (your first songbook)

The great Mr. Phil! You are brilliant, especially for me being a christian, yet coming from a very secular background with my music. But the Lord allows us to go astray then calls us back. I believe you are as good as Matheny, page, montgomery, Howie, and countless others. You are truly a legend in your own right and have touched my heart to the core. God bless you, dear Phil keaggy. ❤

I had just come to Jesus a few months before this album came out. I was introduced to Phil's music a while before asking Jesus into my heart. So much of the holy Spirit comes through these songs, even today. I still love it!

This album was actually released in 1980 and I should know because I gave it as a gift to a friend I visited who was in the hospital (11/04/1980) for a cardiac exam; I still have a photo of the two of us sitting on his hospital bed with me wearing my Resurrection Band shirt that read “music to raise the dead”. I was awoken the next morning (11/05/1980) by my mother who told Donny had passed away in the night during his procedure. Donny Standridge, my dear friend, I will see you again in glory as we serve and worship the Lamb for eternity future! ❤️

Yes, this album was released in 1980. It was 'Town To Town' then released the next year and then "Play Thru Me" in 1982 . However, "Ph'lip Side" was re-released in 1982, replacing the song "Send Out Your Light" with "In Your Keep" while also changing the track order.

As a new believer in 1982, this album (along with Keith Green's No Compromise and Jerusalem's Vol. 2) really ministered to me. I've seen Phil perform several times and had the chance to meet him once. What a wonderful person and amazing artist.

I went on to teach music as a career. Played drums and enough guitar for elem music glasses. Never spent money on cassettes or albums but as a HS senior I waltzed into a Christian book store looking for …. Prob a Christmas gift idea. I heard this album on the store pa. I bought the cassette in 82? And wore it out. 30 years later I realized Phil was from my home state probably 3 hours north of where I lived. I ran across the double cd that included this album and glad I bought it. Great work. I should go hear him in concert.

God does tell us to seek him while he may be found. Knock and the door will be opened unto you. Seek and you shall find. Ask for wisdom.. Ask and it shall be given to you. Speak life.. and so many things he tells the right thinking person to do. I think he enjoys seeing people come to new truths and be excited over these pearls... God does not orchestrate our every step, but he does know which steps we will take, and then he knows how to alter our path if needed.
The right thinking/ right living person does not need His intervention as much since/as he lives by kingdom principles. He is blessed in the fields, blessed in the city, blessed wherever the soles of his feet touch, etc.
Only if we seek first the kingdom principles of how God would desire for us to live will we see his kingdom in every area of our life and see fruit--- some 30, some 60, some 100 fold return on the seed spread forth.
The Harvest time is coming and is already starting to grow by leaps and bounds as the body of Christ is coming into new truths and understandings that the spirit of God is revealing were already hidden in his word.
The time has come for Jeremiah 30:24 to come true across this flat plane called earth, with it's four corners and a firmament over our heads wherein dwells the stars, Sun, and Moon.
Note: deceptions are revealed that were hard to understand for the elect before. I think God is waiting for us to seek him with all our hearts before he reveals further great revelations. Partnership with him is great.
"ALL is of Him, but only in a sense that makes common sense."
When the steps of a man are ordered by the Lord, he is not ordaining our choices, but he is watching carefully as a watchful Father does, and only intervenes in those steps to "order" them in an orderly manner.... Order here does not mean "command"... it simply means he knows how to properly arrange things if they get out of hand. And usually in a way that only faith can say that "God ordered them properly", as he never seems to make it totally obvious that it was Him doing it, as he desires faith, and is pleased to see his faith growing in us. - brother Paul

Interesting thing about this album most people don't catch: The record (old school) sides were not A and B, or 1 and 2 - they were This Side and That Side. This side was all acoustical and had an acoustic guitar in the background. That side was hard and all electrical, and had an electrical guitar in the background. remember where "Christian Music" was back in the day - electric rock sounding music raised eyebrows. Hence the reference to "That Side", like it's "That kind of music"....

Now, I'm trying to remember which media I bought; tape or LP. I know I had this recording but can't recall what you wrote about "this" and "that". I might have known it, but it has been a LONG time ago. Even if I knew about the sides, I probably wouldn't have recognized the electric side as being "that" kind of music. I do, however, remember the raised eyebrows from our Christian parents and elders in the church. Thanks for the input!😃

This was re-issued in 1982 at Phil Keaggy's request. The original release contained the song 'Send Out Your Light" which Mr. Keaggy removed for reasons which are vague. One possibility is the song was mixed badly (the kick drum was especially loud and obnoxious on this track). That song was pulled for this re-issue and the song 'In Your Keep' was added and placed on the 'This Side' side. Additionally, the song 'Just A Moment Away' was moved from the acoustic side of this album (This Side) and placed on the electric side (That Side). The jacket was not reprinted to reflect these changes. Instead a blue sticker with the new song list was placed on the 'This Side' side and a pink sticker with the new song list was placed on the 'That Side' of the jacket. A separate lyric / credit sheet was inserted into this release. (Discogs)
    1st issue track line-up:
    A Royal Commandment
    Sunday School
    Send Out Your Light
    Pulling Down
    A Child (In Everyone's Heart)
    Little Ones
    Spend My Life With You
    Just A Moment Away
    I Belong To You
