I left the Catholic Church at 6-7 years old, so I didn't do it on my own. I was baptized at a small parish when I was 3 but there was the issue of divorce that caused us to leave. Dad was Catholic and Mom was divorced when they married. They were married by a judge so that's another strike against them. Along the way, Dad was told he was excommunicated so he quit going. My aunt started taking me to the Presbyterian Church. I remember around 10-12 years, going to mass while visiting my grandmother and I liked crossing myself. I was already Presbyterian then. If I had known some Catholics after high school, I probably would have converted then. I've always known that Peter was the first pope and the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. I think I remember my aunt steering me away when she thought I was getting too Catholic. I wore a crucifix around my neck then. But I stayed Presbyterian. I ended up being ordained as an elder, teaching Sunday school and leading worship on a regular basis. I started to notice things that I didn't agree with happening in the Presbyterian Church. Mostly becoming liberal in theology instead of following God's Word. Finally the news that caused me to leave the Presbyterian Church came almost a year ago. They agreed with the practice of abortion. It felt like being cheated on. I went back to church one more Sunday and decided I could never go back again. So, I started the process of looking into other denominations. I was getting lots of posts on pro-life and seems like most activists were Catholic. From my childhood, I thought that Catholics did not allow divorced people to join. My wife was previously divorced. Then I see information about Abby Johnson converting to Catholicism and I knew from Unplanned she was divorced previously. So I researched Catholicism and divorce and came up with annulments. I then turned my focus from denominations to is Catholic theology agree with my beliefs? I mentioned in some ecumenical pro-life groups that I was looking into Catholicism and everyone said don't go there! There are other denominations you can go that is pro-life. I found that my beliefs and Catholic beliefs were in agreement about 98-99%. There was the issue concerning Mary I had to deal with. I saw the verse about the Church is the truth and authority and that convinced me. I attended mass in mid July last year, my first since childhood. I will be confirmed soon. I now wish I had never been taken out of the Catholic Church at such a young age. I wished I could have been a cradle Catholic. I now do some apologetics which is strange because I never had the desire as a Protestant. Blessings to all of you!

Welcome Home! I was born and raised Catholic, 10.5 years of Catholic schools, etc. I quit attending mass at age 38. 25 years later, I returned bringing my formerly Baptist husband with me.
I was never into apologetics until I got sick and tired of the Catholic Church being blasted by Protestants for things that I knew were not true! When I started researching responses to their anti-Catholic propaganda, I found I really missed the Mass and mostly the Eucharist.
Now I find myself doing apologetics in comments on channels like Keith’s ! Sometimes it’s difficult to remain charitable in this with so many trolls and Catholic bashers who spread all manner of misinformation about the church. Once in a while, someone tells me I inspire them which helps bring me back when I get discouraged... usually after I cry to God asking Him just why I do this! 🙄 He sends someone to remind me why!
I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary of returning to Mass, and July 17 will mark my return to the Eucharist and full communion with the church!
My husband had been divorced, so we needed that cleared up and then have our marriage convalidated in the Church.
Sounds like someone gave your dad bad information about being excommunicated. It was not true! So sad, but you’ve found your way home at last! It’s only too late if you die first!
God bless you on your journey! It’s bound to be a wild ride! 😉

I am a person who after I posted my conversion story on TH-cam, I turned my comments off because I didn’t want to deal with opposing points of view. YOU inspired me to make more videos and to keep my comments turned on and even made a video debunking all accusations street preacher Ray Comfort has thrown at the Catholics and Catholic Church...I even mentioned you and your channel in the video, hopefully it gets more people looking to your videos, especially one like this. I never thought I left the church when I started dabbling in the New Age movement. 2 years ago I got a wake up call on You tube from Doreen Virtue, Melissa Dougherty, & Steven Bancarz talked about how sinful the New Age movement was. Here I was justifying my actions but my life took a dark route down a dangerous path of Idolatry, occult practices such as mediumship. Thank God that I am back and went to confession and was given a brilliant 2nd chance with Christ and I will stay close to my Shepherd from now on

Lori Bothwell funny story for you. When my second Catholic husband decided he wanted a divorce, I pretty much said I was done with men (and done with the Catholic Church since both Catholic marriages ended in divorce).
A friend gave me a tape to listen to on a long drive... it was a Doreen Virtue book on tape. I don’t remember which one, but she talked about how to find a mate... make a list of things you want in a mate and make it very specific. I did just that, thinking no such man existed. I wrote a prayer at the end, “this or something more perfect for me please at the right time”.
God said, “watch this!” A few weeks later, I was introduced to him. He was a former Baptist who had left his church because of hypocrisy and lack of teaching cohesive to the Bible he was reading. We married outside the church and my second husband died 5 years later.
Fast forward 15 years and we decide to return to church. I would not go protestant so he agreed to go with me and do what was necessary for me to receive the sacraments again. During the process (his former marriage had to be cleared up) he found his answers in the Catholic Church and will be confirmed soon! I was able to return to the sacraments within less than 3 months of our first Mass together.
So, Doreen’s new age stint still provided God a means to bring someone back to the faith, even if unusual. Who knew?

you will understand ritual having come out of occult practices. You have changed one bunch of rituals for another load of rituals time will prove that to be the case.
If you read Luke 23 keep your attention on the two thieves. There were three major points between one of the male interaction with Jesus. and assurance of
salvation. The second thieve raised one point and had no assurance. The devil does not want you to make a simple choice when something more complicated will rob you of that one on one relationship with your savior. You could also go to John chapter 3 :3 read the surrounding verses. What happens to you in the process of salvation. The warning in 2corinthians chapter 11:4 always remembering to read the contexts. Which Jesus is been presented is it the one that spiriture is referring to. That will take time to find out but the Truth will set you free
www.stjohnse15.co.uk/fabric/martyrs.html These were put to death for not believing in RC Doctrine The catholic church aided and abetted in bringing the charges for people to die which would have put the fear into the general populous this also happens all over Europe

The monopoly of salvation is God's alone. And God gave his authority end entrusted the sacraments to the church he establised on the apostles. Chief of those apostles was Simon/Peter, the one to whom Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom.
Those who receive God's blessings while removed from the church he established should be grateful that in his mercy God would not hold his blessing from those who are unable to recognize his church. One still has the duty to follow Jesus as he intended. That requires that one reject heresy and work to resolve the fragmentation and disunity that exists among Christians.
The Catholic Church is the one has the Lord's authority.

I'm of the belief that religion helps in creating an ethical framework and also a regulator for values in day to day life. This particular approach helps in character building of a person. In other words, Religiom acts as an agency of socialization. Thus, relgion helps in building values like love, empathy, respect, and harmony. Now with that said, I believe in Jesus Christ and I believe his teachings were not meant to isolate others just because they do not want to follow the catholic church. If there is another christian faith that provides those things I listed above then go for it. No religion is the end all be all. Most of us are only members of a church because that's how we were raised, not what we chose to believe objectively. I like the traditions and values of the cathoilc church, but I also appreciate the practices of other christian faiths (some members of my family are members of others) and that's totally fine. And if anyone, or the Catholic church, has a problem with it then oh well. I like to believe God, Jesus, or the powers that may be are fine with that as long as you live with their prescence in mind, with gratitude, love, and peace, not based on fear- but that's just me.

I'm a cradle Catholic and so joyful about that. I've never ever considered leaving, thank God my Catholic school, my parents, all have helped me go deeper and deeper in my faith. Still, there's always a moment when you are questioned by your friends, by university classmates, by a society that is skeptical about any institution who claims to have divine authority over what is truth. People make it seem like that's an evil position (in a world where any authority is perceived as evil) and these testimonies help to enlighten us Catholics when we are confronted by this skeptical society, about the full goodness of Our Holy Catholic Church.

    I’m a former catholic - raised a cradle catholic
I’ve never been more free and happy in my life -
My kids wanted to go to a Protestant church - I told them that’s fine as long as they continue to go to mass - but they began to ask questions about the Roman Catholic faith that I couldn’t answer - when I researched the history of the Catholic Church and it’s claims I realized how blind I had been - only living in my catholic bubble it all made sense until I saw the beauty and freedom of Christianity and the gospel without the man made traditions and unfounded claims of Rome - I’ve never felt the presence of god in the Eucharist yet we get it drilled into our heads that it is the crown jewel of our faith - yet I saw no transformation in our lives or greater union with Christ - when our family began to actually experience the presence of god was when we participated in a Protestant church prayer group - I realized how arrogant myself and those who taught me were - when they said things like “but we are the true church” and “we have Mary and the Eucharist and the papacy “ and yet there is so much corruption , sin , and pride - I saw in the humility of my Protestant friends the true spirit of Peter -
To anyone wanting to leave - ask questions - don’t ignore your doubts with more devotion and piety - go where the truth and evidence leads you -
My wife and children have never been more alive and spiritually on fire -
Leaving the Roman Catholic Church was the best thing I ever did for my family and my relationship with god

I know that the mass to some might b boring and I totally get it. But when u really listen very carefully to the entire mass and hear ever pray, which nothing is ever said without purpose, things will make more sense. The mass is a recreation of Jesus with his apostles breaking bread. The mass fills us and charges our spiritual batteries. All week we r in this crazy world having not so great experiences, possibly being beat up by all the worldly people and things. So, at least go to mass on the weekend and get filled back up with the spirit.

As a cradle catholic, I'm very grateful to have people like this in our church. You are needed here and your work is having and will have a real affect on people and will beir fruit.
I want to also encourage you in not being distracted or perturbed so to say by certain movements in the church. I don't think you're in any danger of following the liberal minority in the church but I'm sure you've already encountered a loud minority of fundamentalist Catholics who make it seem like the church is in complete chaos and that the only way to save it, is to revert to pre Vatican 2 Latin mass and stop the satanic taking of communion in the hand etc. I'm not saying these people are evil but their faith is a bit shallow and focuses too much on human traditions. Tradition with a small t can be changed and if you don't believe this then you don't belive in a living and functioning catholic church. What we need to hold fast to is the teaching and faith the church has handed down to us, traditions like saying the mass in Latin are beautiful but are not a part of the deposit of the faith.
In reality the vast majority of Catholics are very unified in faith and are focused on the messages of the Gospel and the sacraments. I'm only writing this here just to encourage you not to feel uneasy due to some of these things and to encourage to teaching us Catholics about what a gift we have and how we can properly view our faith. I think you have a natural sense and also a pleasentness about you that can really unify people.

Very well said! I converted from evangelical to Catholic about 30 years ago because I had began questioning all the different interpretations of scripture. This church said women couldn’t wear makeup, that church said we couldn’t wear pants, that one said drinking wine was a sin, one said the true sabbath was on Saturday not Sunday, ad nauseam...so, I began searching for truth which led me to the discovery of apostolic succession, the teaching of the church fathers (I’d never heard of these concepts), the true presence. Evangelicals are good at interpreting scripture SO literally when it suits them but ignore the most important teaching...Jesus said “this IS my body and blood”. He didn’t say it “represents” it. Also, there is 2 Peter 1:20” knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private revelation”.

Everyone can say what they want about the Catholic and yes there are so many differant divisons in Christianity but I know this the Catholic is not the true church of christ its autroity is redicolus they believe apostolic teaching wich was handed down to the apostels and tradtion witch Catholic tradtion the ausmtion of Mary into heaven is a Catholic teaching plus a tradtion witch is no were found in the bible the apostels never tougth that but the Catholic church does. Another problem is more than one mediator The Catholic teaches that Mary is another mediator they teach that Mary is a meadatrix witch means female mediator. The bible says theres only one mediator the man Christ Jesus the Catechism is full of false doctine. The big one is the Eucarist the Catholic church teaches a dctrine called transubstantion wich means the cumminon bread changes into the body and blood of christ during the mass the priest stand in the person of christ and says the words of concerration by the power of God changes into the body blood soul and divinty of christ wich then is eating and drank and also put into a monstrance to be worshiped and adored because Catholics believe that is really Jesus now thats idolatry. The bible tells us not to worship graven amages either in heaven or things on Earth so what do Catholics do they worship an emage but they are so convenced that is Jesus because of missunderstanding of John 6 he eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life in me

So it is rather interesting that, according to Catholic thinking, the words written in John 6:51 - 54 (about supposedly eating Jesus' flesh and drinking His blood) are to be taken LITERALLY, while, according to the Catholic Church, the words in Genesis, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, are NOT to be taken literally?! For this is exactly the official Vatican teaching (check it out if you do not believe me). The Vatican teaches "Theistic EVOLUTION" --a theory that God (supposedly) used the slow process of evolution in creating the world and life in it.
Now, think carefully dear Catholics, IF Genesis 1 and 2 are not to be taken literally but only symbolically, in other words, if Genesis 1 & 2 are not history but metaphor, then that would mean that what's written in Exodus 20:11 is also not true. And Exodus 20:11 are actually the very words of God Himself!!!?? And GOD IS NOT A LIAR!!! The words of Exodus 20:11 are the words that God THUNDERED from Mount Sinai in an awful display of His power and glory. And He wrote those words "with His own finger" in STONE!!!!!!! And then gave that stone tablet to Moses. And thar is the ONLY document written by God Himself that was ever given to man! And God said and wrote: "IN 6 DAYS!!!" Not "millions of years"!!!!
So this supposedly "only true church of God" is actually accusing God of LYING!!!!????
      Astounding!!!! What a BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!
And that's not all. By accepting the theory of evolution, Vatican is putting the existence of death BEFORE the first human sin. According to the Bible, death, disease and suffering did NOT exist before the first human pair, Adam and Eve. According to the Bible death and suffering came as the direct CONSEQUENCE of SIN.
And, furthermore, God did NOT threaten Adam and Eve with "eternal burning" or eternal life in the place of horror--the so-called "hell"! He simply told them that if they disobey Him by eating fro the forbidden tree they will DIE (yes, die--not burn forever). And they sinned and eventually died. And that's why we all die, because we are Adam and Eve's posterity. We inherited their "fallen" nature. Which means that we inherited their genes that were marred by SIN. That's why our genes constantly deteriorate and as the result we age and eventually die.
According to the Bible, the punishment for sin is DEATH-- (see Romans 6:23). Death--NOT "eternal torture" or eternal miserable life in a place of torture called "hell"!!! Even the most often quoted Bible verse, John 3:16, says "PERISH"--not live forever in the horrors of "hell". Hell is a PAGAN idea! It's not biblical. Unsaved people get destroyed! They get DEATH. The Bible constantly tells us that SIN = DEATH, and OBEDIENCE (or salvation) = LIFE (eternal life). Please read and consider 1. John 5:12. Both "immortal soul" doctrine and the doctrine of "hell" have been "imported" from paganism! There is no such thing as "immortal soul". However, there is RESURRECTION of the dead believers, to whom will Jesus grant eternal life when He returns at the end of this world.
Dear Catholics, God is LOVE (1. John 4:8). God derives NO pleasure from even the death of the unrepentant/unsaved person, let alone from supposedly torturing such people throughout endless eternity. What a horrifying thought and what a BLASPHEMOUS doctrine. No doubt, it must have that turned countless number of people away from God.
Dear Catholics, please read Ezekiel 18:23, 31 & 32 and consider what it says.
NO, God is NOT a sadistic monster, as the (supposedly) "only true Church" and, sadly, most other denominations are unwittingly portraying Him to be. What a sad and BLASPHEMOUS doctrine. Only satan could invent such a slur on the character of our Heavenly Father.
Dear Catholics, please study the Bible using a Bible Concordance that contains Hebrew and Greek lexicon (dictionary) to see for yourself that the! so-called "immortal soul" doctrine is not taught by the Bible, but is in fact an invention of man (a pagan or spiritualistic idea).
Start your study with Genesis 2:7 (which actually gives us a definition of "soul") and then move onto other relevant Bible texts. You can of course also look for help on the Internet.

There are time i also am discourage going to mass due to issues like priest who are always late, boring sermons, parisioners who are unruly and not taking the mass seriously etc. But at the end of the day, all that does not matter. What is important is our relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior. Priest, parisioners and even me are not perfect we are all humans. I can't help but express something. I found and still find it creepy about statues all over the place, especially inside catholic churches. They have a mouth and cannot speak, eyes but cannot see. It never made sense to me.

Keith, I thank you for your Apostleship. Welcome to the Truth. The division within the faith you talk about, why so many leave, is because Jesus God our Lord is not the center of their lives. Once we all get that Wisdom we will all be aligned in agreement with one another an in the path to Eternal Life. God Bless and Grant you Peace always.

I'm a 57yr. old cradle catholic. I know the catholic church is going through many sinful things right now. But I I would never leave the church. I know the Catholic church is the one true church, created by Jesus Christ. I love the church so much, at one time I wanted to enter into a convent. GOD had other plans for me. Any true and faithful Catholic now has to pick up his/her cross and fight the evil that has come into our church and protect it from satan. Satan is trying to destroy the Catholic church. Along with OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WE HAVE TO FIGHT AND SAVE HER. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. 🙏🙏🙏

If you do not agree with the Pope then do not follow the pope but do not abandon the church. The Pope is only infallible on matters of faith guys. He might have his weaknesses. Do not dwell on that. Dwell on his authority ob faith matters.

Thank you for this. There is definitely a time of disillusionment as a new convert when you realize the Church isn't as unified as you'd hoped. It can be so frustrating when you went through an intense RCIA period, studied and learned so much about the faith, only to see Cradle Catholics who take it for granted, don't appreciate what they have, or just don't seem to get it. Every church has problems, and we're no different, because we're human. I just can't imagine walking away though. Our children are thriving here in a way they never did anywhere else. Our marriage is stronger and more faith-filled than it had been for nearly 20 years. After nearly 4 decades of being committed, active Protestants, my husband and I know without a doubt that we've found God's true church. We're still surprised sometimes to find ourselves Catholic, but it's been the most wonderful and amazing thing we've ever done.

My mother left the Catholic church when i was still at home. She chose the LDS Church. She pushed me into it. I even married in the LDS temple. With in two months i took off the holy underware and asked to be removed from the rolls of the church. I couldn't swallow it.
Then i was part of a group that helped people leave the LDS church called, "Saints Alive.'
The church sponsoring the group was Southern Baptist.
They had me pray a prayer to invite Jesus in my heart. I guess i was skeptical because i don't think i had really meant what i said.
I stayed with the S. Baptist's for years.
Through a fellowship i joined i was introduced to new age. I was channeling spirits for about a decade.
A friend asked me to go to a study with her on the Epistle of James. The pastor leading it took interest in my beliefs. He spent time with me sharing thoughts .
At one point he referred to this passage:
    1 JOHN 4:3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God; and such is the spirit of Antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come, and even now already it is in the world.
This verse greatly troubled me . I was asked if i knew what spirits i was channeling. In a short time i truly repented and surrendered my heart and life to our Lord.
Of late i am very interested in Catholicism. It's the faith my whole family of origin believes.

I read a quote about long lines for communion but not confession. At St. Brendan's Church of the Bronx, NY asked Fr. Perez questions about God during confession. I was told that I was disrupting the process. At. St. Barnabas Church of the Bronx I asked the pastor a question about God. he told me that that was inappropriate for confession and that he would answer me later.

  • @Architelle88

You know what is beautiful in Catholicism? You have a wonderful family! You have a holy Mother, Jesus our brother and the almighty God our father and so many angels and Saints. In the Philippines we celebrate our patron saints on their feast days, we have big celebrations and street parties, there is so much fun. Ialways enjoy fiestas in the Philippines. Not all clergy people are bad in Catholicism, its only a minute fraction of its population, clergy people are mere human beings like everybody , all religions have sins too because we are all humans and we make mistakes.
