Totally not an excuse to explain River getting older and older in each episode. Because the youngest version of her looked the oldest. Because she, and I quote (A bit paraphrasing), "He gets younger and younger as I get older." So the actor behind River gets older in real life, so younger in the show. Her face is older, but technically she's younger. That's just cheating to explain a plot hole.
Thought it was just Moffat nodding towards the fans in 2013 who thought the Doctor got younger every regeneration, but I think your explanation for including this line does make more sense.
Between I'm not dead from Matt Smith and Bruce Boxlitner as Captain Sheridan saying I was dead I'm better now I can't decide which one is more amusing.

THIS. Sometimes I think other people were literally watching a different show. The Doctor not madly, deeply, wholy in love with his wife??? Of course he was. She broke time to tell him how she felt, to let him know that she *knew* him, and that she was still going to do it anyway, and he dedicated the days he stole from fate into her keeping. Days running after her, coming when she calls, catching her out of spaceships... The Doctor humbled himself to her wishes. He's a big part of what made Melody Pond into River Song because *he lets her be the hero.* Despite the fact that he knows she struggles under the burden sometimes, but he also knows that it's what makes her feel strong. River's love was a declaration in an instant that is happening at every point in history. The Doctor's was in deed across the time they stole. People talk so much about how 'omg, River Song's the Doctor's wife' forgetting of course that that also means that the Doctor is River Song's *husband.*

What I have always loved about this scene is that it is forgiveness in the greatest way; forgiveness of the victim. When the Doctor says ‘I’m not dead’ it’s not a refusal to die - he’s not sure at this point if he will live or not. It’s the fact that he knows this isn’t River’s fault, that she’s a good person. He forgives her even as she might kill him. That’s powerful storytelling
This episode has gotten a lot of criticism but for me this is one of my favorite Matt Smith episodes it's meant to be humorous after a serious preceding episode. And for those who are surprised that Hitler hasn't as much to do with this . it's not about Hitler , it's about certain groups that come together to kill him and their interactions with each other(namely the robot and the young River Song)

@Vesmir NG-3 No, she came about fully-human but with extra bits from being, uh, conceived in the TARDIS when the Ponds went on honeymoon. There were extra bits because it was in the Time Vortex, and then the Silence did a bunch of extrapolating and augmenting and sticking other bits in to make her a Time Lord-lite; it's mentioned at Demon's Run that they were using her as a base to build a time lord. Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly sure there are hints in the lore that Time Lords aren't strictly all Gallifreyans but Gallifreyans plus...SOMETHING from looking in the Time Vortex.

I love how River referenced how she can slightly alter her appearance after regeneration, since in the classic series (Romana for example) a natural female Timelord could better control regeneration better than natural males. In the modern series, however, it seems that if a Timelord swaps sexes after regenerating, they lose a little control over that.

Matt Smith is a better actor than Peter Capaldi. There are people who call Capaldi the greatest actor to ever play the Doctor but anybody who says that is delusional. John Hurt was one of the most celebrated actors in the world and delivered one of the greatest performances of an already incredible career in Day of the Doctor. Furthermore, every previous New Who Doctor nailed the character within their very first episode while Capaldi struggled for his entire first season and even some of his second. Also, Capaldi wasn't under anywhere near as much pressure as Smith or Hurt. In Smith's case, he 1) came directly after David Tennant, 2) had no previous companions to back him up and 3) was the most inexperienced actor to play the Doctor. As for Hurt, he 1) was retconned into existence during the biggest milestone in Doctor Who history, 2) didn't have much time to get comfortable in the role but looked like he'd been doing it all his life and 3) was sharing the screen with the two most popular Doctors of the modern era whilst THE most popular Doctor of the Classic era was waiting in the wings. Capaldi would definitely have been overshadowed in Day of the Doctor and either forgotten or considered a fake Doctor, which would be okay in the sense that the 9th Doctor was feared and almost hated by later incarnations but would also have emphasised that Capaldi simply couldn't pull off the Doctor as easily as his predecessors could. Peter Capaldi's era was much more focussed and consistent than Matt Smith's, becoming more of a character drama than a jumbled timey-wimey romp because Steven Moffat learned from the mistakes he made throughout Smith's era. He even wrote an entire arc to excuse the Doctor behaving like a sociopathic asshole but Capaldi was 1) trying to cram thirteen previous Doctors, including the Valeyard, into one character and 2) leaning so hard into the Doctor's sociopathy that he was just outright unlikeable. Because of this he struggled to handle an arc that John Hurt could have pulled off effortlessly. However, plenty of people deflect blame onto either the writing or Clara Oswald instead of just acknowledging that Capaldi himself was the problem. He found his feet in Season 9 and the true Doctor finally emerged during The Zygon Inversion but it was too little too late, so I wasn't interested in Season 10, except for Clara's cameo, David Bradley's performance and the regeneration/scene where the real Doctor died. I might get around to watching Missy's redemption arc and John Simms' return at some point though.
Time Travel Guidelines 1. Avoid dangerous time periods. 2. Wear clothes from time period. 3. Find underground hide out. 4. Only watch history. 5. Spend 1 minute in past. 6. Avoid camera's. 7. If history is changed travel back and change timeline back to it's original timeline.
I love this Dr.Who. was he only 1 season. I have antenna so not everything comes in all the time. I've missed so much. In US I don't know alot of Dr Who people I hope to change that.

As for Hurt, he 1) was retconned into existence during the biggest milestone in Doctor Who history, 2) didn't have much time to get comfortable in the role but looked like he'd been doing it all his life and 3) was sharing the screen with the two most popular Doctors of the modern era whilst THE most popular Doctor of the Classic era was waiting in the wings. Capaldi would definitely have been overshadowed in Day of the Doctor and either forgotten or considered a fake Doctor, which would be okay in the sense that the 9th Doctor was feared and almost hated by later incarnations but would also have emphasised that Capaldi simply couldn't pull off the Doctor as easily as his predecessors could.
Peter Capaldi's era was much more focussed and consistent than Matt Smith's, becoming more of a character drama than a jumbled timey-wimey romp because Steven Moffat learned from the mistakes he made throughout Smith's era. He even wrote an entire arc to excuse the Doctor behaving like a sociopathic asshole but Capaldi was 1) trying to cram thirteen previous Doctors, including the Valeyard, into one character and 2) leaning so hard into the Doctor's sociopathy that he was just outright unlikeable. Because of this he struggled to handle an arc that John Hurt could have pulled off effortlessly. However, plenty of people deflect blame onto either the writing or Clara Oswald instead of just acknowledging that Capaldi himself was the problem. He found his feet in Season 9 and the true Doctor finally emerged during The Zygon Inversion but it was too little too late, so I wasn't interested in Season 10, except for Clara's cameo, David Bradley's performance and the regeneration/scene where the real Doctor died. I might get around to watching Missy's redemption arc and John Simms' return at some point though.

I love this Dr.Who. was he only 1 season. I have antenna so not everything comes in all the time. I've missed so much. In US I don't know alot of Dr Who people I hope to change that.
