  • Supplies:
    Neighbor’s hula hoop (free).
    Shower curtain (from our house).
    Shower rings ($3).
Adjustable height tent/tarp poles (from my shed collection but any pipe would work as long as it is the correct length).
S Hooks to hang from pole and support the hula hoop.
And a willing participant to hold.

Hey there, I had the exact same idea over here in Germany. I installed a hulahoop shower on my campsite veranda ;-) most peaple laughed at my idea, but hey two years on and it still works a treat. Keeping it simple - Good on you!

Maybe you could use a long enough bungee cord to hang it from a tree. First, throw the bungee cord over a tree branch. Then hook each end to each side of the hoop. Also, I'd place a patio/ stepping stone to stand on while showering. Finally, you can use an Evian bottled water and drill a lot of small holes into the cap or buy a cheap shower attachment that fits any water bottle. P.S. a small wire rack can be used to hold toiletries and a mirror. Hope this can help someone does not want to buy a camp shower tent.

Ya know with 12, 3 foot - 3/4 inch pvc pipe and 4, 3 way pvc elbows, and 4, 3/4 inch insert cupplers you have a free standing shower that you can take apart and store in a bag. Cost around 25$ to 30$. Grab a pack of shower hooks and a cpl cheap shower curtains from walmart and bobs yer uncle.

The "solar shower" bags, which come with nozzles, can be filled w/water heated other ways too. Shower curtains can be hung with clamps, magnets, magnetic hooks, velcro, Etc.. Also, if coat-hanger wire or other loop isn't ideal, Hula Hoops exist that are assembled from snap together sections for variable sizing, and, if added to mid-section of curtain ... vs just at the top, help keep shower curtain from clinging to your body while washing. A shallow rectangular drain- water collection plastic "tub" w/lid can double as storage for an easy, cheap, indoor/outdoor shower (&/or "wet bath", if portable potty fits inside drain pan footprint to share privacy that shower curtain provides, +/- folded potty or folding stool w/bedpan & bio-bag, fitting in shower's closed storage container). If you have a pop-top van that you may leave down for stealth camping (or camp in a passenger vehicle), it's not hard to tweek this design to accommodate a combo shower/sponge bath from a seated position (while on either a car seat or seated on a closed potty that fits in the shower's drain pan, Etc.). So, you needn't rule out having a shower, a toilet, or a full "wet bath", even in small spaces!

We have the same camper and it's a pain. We cut down 3 juvenile trees (on our land while we're clearing brush) we tied them together at the top (they're about 10-12ft long) string the hula hoop by 3 strings at the top. Toggle tie some spots at the bottom and use tent pegs to hold it, so the curtain doesn't stick to your legs and butt.
