I have just started car camping in a Toyota Highlander and there is no way this 70 yr old lady can pee inside the car. So I bought a medium sized one for my portable toilet. It's great for the middle of the night rather than going to a vault toilet. Haven't showered in it yet. I can also store other items, like firewood and bins.
I prefer no floor. But I carry along a bamboo bath mat to put on the floor which is easy to brush off. And I prefer the lighter weight. It all adds up toward gas mileage.
Yes, that is what I was thinking. He camps like me, one person three tents minimum. There is no extra charge. Set a chair and foot stool in the shower tent gives one a great laptop computer room.
I’m 5’2” tall and have a regular cheap pop up with no bottom. I like the no bottom as it helps dry out faster and I can pack it quick and go. I have a wooden slat mat to use. It’s the same one you would use showering outside the back of your van.
Oh and the bottomless ones are good if you need to use the bathroom outside and there’s no privacy or portable toilet, you can dig a hole and pop a squat anywhere.
I've had a few of these pop up tents but quite a few times they've blown away and I've returned from a hike to see my porta loo sitting there in the open and the tent up a tree. I've now purchased an awning style fold out ensuit tent that's attached to my roof rack. It works great for my SUV.
Always be careful when unzipping. Never know what kind of deadly critter might have crawled in for warmth. I have the wolfwise and it works good. Left it up one day in the wind to see what it would do and based on that experiment you want to fold it up before the wind comes.
One thing to do for a floor for these w/o, first lay down a tarp and extend outside the tent to create something to step out on once you finish showering. Then, inside, on top of the tarp, use a plastic tote or a kiddie pool to stand in, so you are not standing in mud while you shower. Use a large plastic bag to carry in your clean clothes. The kind that you vacuum seal, but only need because of size, not to seal. Even with the $100 shower tent, there is no place to hang or place your clean clothes. You gotta do whatcha gotta do!
I have thr camo shower tent, had it for 3.5 years, held up in extreme strong winds and waterproof. I use a small tarp for the floor. Zero issues with this tent. Zipper has worked with no issues. Only now I see it is wearing a little but that's because it has been used regularly. Not cramped for me personally. I paid £18 for mine. 🇬🇧
When I was in the army we’d sling a pair of ponchos between two vehicles for side walls. Always worked great. We’d stand on a folding nbc (mesh) litter for showers. A shower bag left on top your vehicle in the morning will be hot by evening.
Just saw this video. Spent many years using and researching shower tents, coming to the conclusion that two rooms are a must, as is instant setup. Two rooms allows for split function use or a place for towels, clothes, etc. And roomier means it's not a suffocating sauna, especially in summer. Skip Ozark Trails. Cheaply made like all OT gear. Zippers and seams will succumb to stresses of regular use, setting up/taking down, wind and sunlight. Get the Joolca. Aussie made. The best I've ever used. Quick, easy up and down, roomy, tall enough to get your showerhead comfortably above you, enough windows for ventilation, stands up to a bit of wind. Stows in an oblong zippered case like a small shade tent. Fits on the roof rack or inside the car. I spent $189 three or four years ago. May be more now. Spent easily three times that much buying a series of crummy ones over the years. Happy showering.
We have a Nemo version of this that I got used and I can’t believe the wind and heavy rain it has been through. These are a bit more of a pain to put up and are a bit heavy but you can trust it in poor weather.
Funny how we just set our bathroom tent up last night and now you're talking about it. FYI definitely need a rain fly especially on the ones that have the zipper on the roof. After the rain we got past night we found out it leaks when it rains. The one with tent poles looks amazing! See you Sunday!
I think for the smallest one, you could still just unzip one side to get in and leave the bottom curve open. Also putting a tarp on the floor like an earlier person suggested to be able to step out would work. Drying the one that has the floor sewn in would be more difficult. I love the ease of setup.
I tried using tarps with all kinds of configurations outside but with any amount of breeze the tarp/curtain was sticking onto me and it was cold. Also, even with a tarp to stand on dirt would splatter up on my feet or run over the tarp. For those reasons I chose to get a shower tent.
I am 5'8" & bought one for Abt $35, similar to the 1st one, but is plenty big enough to fit my folding camp chair, 5 gallon bucket toilet AND a 15x15" small folding stool. It's plenty big enough AND is easy to put up & fold up. While the biggest one shown is of better quality, for me it is too much work to put up alone, too bulky & heavy. I really like my smaller shower tent a LOT! I only use one zipper while leaving the other one stationary for easy in & out. Mine came with a PVC floor pad, but I prefer a thicker heavy foam type floor that is water repellent.
I see a lot of the Lightspeed privacy tents when I am camping, and that is what I purchased. It is a 5x5 that is easier to set up. I never do more than stake it out, but I am not in AZ either.
I have the camouflage tent for my bathroom, it is awesome. Has several air vents.. I'm nomadic also I appreciate the camouflage tent it is still lasting. I only open 1 side and I put my own floor mat down.
I use a gallon water/milk bottle and a cap with holes punched in it. Fill half cold water/half hot water. Small poly tarp hanging from a tree in a triangular enclosure with a small piece of tarp for flooring. Wash/rinse/repeat. Use same tarp set-up for toilet bucket. About 15-20 bucks.
I think you could also use tarps for shower privacy if you have trees or make a conduit frame. Cheap and easy to replace. The nice thing with a shower tent is you can also use it for storage, keep your stuff out of sight and rain.
I use a pvc frame. Suction cup to side of van. Pvc legs on other side. 2 fabric shower curtains. Plastic mat for floor lets water drain through. Works well for potty too 😊
@@RLeeVanCamps nice! Thanks for another idea! With my bus windows, I could probably make a collapsible hanging frame out of PVC and stick it to the window like that, which could also be a good, universal sun shade.
I'm not out and about full time, so I opted for a larger pop-up. I don't rely on any of the floors, so I add a foam pad, one of those that can assemble.
G4Free makes surprisingly good products. I use a single strap daypack that they make for a purse because it sits cross-body in the front. It is well made, good zippers and great pocket reinforcement. I know it isn't a tent or shower stall but it is a bit of a testament to how well their products are made. Nice shower tent for sure.
To me, it would depend on if you're hiking or camping. The small pop up would be ideal for hiking privacy for bathroom use and you wouldn't want a floor because you'd be digging a hole hopefully. The others would be better for camping.
My next shower tent is going to be bigger, I don’t have a floor & when I use it for showering I have a bamboo mat which works great. The framed tent looks like it would be great in the wind.
I have a popup shower tent from the brand Leader Accessories. I really Ike it. It has a slightly wider base than the wolf wise or that came popup. It has much more head space so you don't feel cramped inside the shower tent. I have used my shower tent for 3 years now and I love it. It's so easy to set up and once you learn how to fold it, you can pack it away in 10 seconds.
I want one that you can’t see through. We buy these things for privacy but with many of them, if you go in at night with a light everyone can see everything.
Thank you for the demonstrations. The first one is little, but maybe if you don't need a shower it can be used as a bathroom and storage area. I like the middle one with no bar assembly needed.
I have a tent that I bought on Amazon. I don't remember the name of the manufacturer but it's white, 8' tall and cost about 100.00. I love it. It pops up in seconds and stands up fine to high winds. It does blow over but pops back up on its own. It's very entertaining. I stake it out and tie at least one guy rope to a bush or something solid. It doesn't have a floor so I put a collapsible dog bath in it to stand in. I use a small size laundry bottle painted flat black and has five 1/4" holes in the cap. A few hours in the sun and I have a hot shower. Safe travels to all.
The wolfwise being all almost black outside and all reflective inside seems to make sense if you want to keep warm. But why so few pockets and hanging points?
I think a tarp works just as well. If you have a small tarp just get another. I have used my tarp on the barn doors of my van. I have even used a small tarp on the top.
I have the small shower tent, but I don’t stand up too much anyway while showering. It’s easier with my bucket and small shower pump. I have a stool that is also a portable potty. I have a small tarp for the floor. I don’t use it much so didn’t feel a need for something better. But living full time on the road, I can see wanting a sturdier tent. For me having a private place to potty is more how I use it anyway. But thanks for the detailed review.
Is there a place to go that you can rent space long term and keep your car or RV, with shared bathrooms/showers. Perhaps some communal areas as well. Thanks!
The framed one looks like my walmart ozark trail. Its been great boondocking. If people are around the two room would be better as we normal go from the tent to the shower in the buff!!!
I have one a bit larger like the wolfwise have not used it much being a guy half shower just shirt off to wash hair with biodegradable soap. Poop bucket in the truck popup shell if privacy is needed.
I'm glad I bought most of my gear pre-inflation. Definitely gonna be paying a little more for a shower tent based on these current prices I'm hearing. Still gonna avoid the $38 option! That would fit around me like a spandex leotard. But also I like quick set up and tear-down, so the Wolfwise seems good. They have a $40 and $50 option I see, but the $40 looks almost transparent.
The Pankay privacy tent is a way better option for me no setup can be hung from a tree it works in windy condition if you anchor one end to the ground it is a minimalist bathroom and shower option fast and easy.
Thanks for thevintro to the Lightspeed tent. Having not boondocked anywhere but on my own property, what are the rules regarding shower water on the ground? Primarily on BLM lands in the desert?
How can you secure these tents into the hard dry ground out west? I try to pound the steaks down into the ground with a hammer or rock but that ground out west is so hard :( Suggestions?
I just bought some gallon ice-cream bucks that I am going to fill with concrete and tie down to them. I don't rv, but just need to secure things once or twice a year so not concerned about weight.
I live for in Canada, any pop up tents that could cover my entire car, maybe be act as a disguise and keep some heat in as well for a compact car, would this be feasible?

True about the weight but I'm also thinking about the wind too, @ least to a point. (?)
That is quite a tent compound you have there Bob! 🥰 thank you for all of the info
Yes, that is what I was thinking. He camps like me, one person three tents minimum. There is no extra charge. Set a chair and foot stool in the shower tent gives one a great laptop computer room.
Looking good, Bob. You lost some weight and seem to have more energy. Oh, and the shower tent review is very good.

I definitely need a two room shower tent to remove and replace clothing so they don't get wet along with my towel etc.
Ozark trail makes a two room pop up bathroom/shower tent. I got one when it was on sale. Great investment!

OR make a diy shower tent, has pvc frame and Tarp. 4'x4,x8' very strong, very cheap as I. Less than 20.00
I think the smallest of the three is probably a toilet tent, rather than a shower tent.
Does the Wolfwise floor have drainage?
Hello! I have a question non related to this video. I would like to have information about car/van camping communities in Florida. Thank you!

only the one with the top opening would fork for the 5gall solar bags as it can be tied to a tree ?

Can i shower in my pop up tent i cook in so i have more room?
So it’s ok to let the shower water soak into the arizona desert ? There are no issues with gray water on BLM land ? just asking
