Honestly the ko ss38 nemesis prime looks better than the official takara one, especially with the better shade of red for the windows and actually having teal
I have had that one for so long now and its still solid despite me playing with it all the time. Shame the paint on the metal bits chip over time tho
@@OverseerXIII to me that's just battle damage.
> Places the Classics mold repaint in flea market because the lack of any red hurts the look so much.
> Places other figures lacking red into higher tiers.
Im a simple man. You make a video about my absolute favorite character of all time, i click. Thanks TJ. Really appreciate this one.
Lots of Nemesis Primes. Now for the toy hunts to begin archiving.
I think legacy scourge should have been higher up because even though he lacks the right colors for scourge he still look and feels amazing
The fact that thee cybertron prime mold wasn’t made into a nemesis prime is a CRIME
AGREED. I’ve also seen customs of it as nova and SG prime and they look fantastic
I have been begging for that repaint ever since the original. I was hoping the last reissue would have been the perfect time for it but sadly not.
5:47 So you fired yourself?! How does that work?!
I can't find the original leaks so I can't be sure if I remember correctly. I think when the Velocitron listing for Scourge was leaked it was named Nemesis Prime or Black Convoy, so later when we saw the colors of the toy I said something like "ah, so this is not Scourge. They'll make me buy this and are saving the Scourge name to sell it to me again later with more accurate colors". But then we saw that unlike the leaked listing, the toy came out with the Scourge name.
> Includes RiD Scourge as the only black Optimus repaint in the "top ten Transformer repaints of all time" video.
> Places a few other black Optimus repaints above it in the Nemesis Prime tier list.
Animated Nemesis prime in universe was created via Scalpel and Oil slick so he still totally counts.
27:43 It seems the POTP head design was carried over from the TFCC Toxitron pretool head, and it looks much more like a Decepticon symbol. Shame it wasn’t used on Grand Scourge as well.
I hope they give us a Legacy Animated Nemesis Prime.
If they do, it will probably be a generations select.
That remold is being redone as Motormaster
I'm praying for it.
@RockinRhinox that means nothing when molds can get redone into absolute hell. Case and point, the sideswipe mold.
Black lio convoy is the peak of "nemesis prime". The color scheme didnt catch on for no reason.
The velocitron nemesis is great especially with toyhax stickers it's awesome
My all-time favorite Nemesis Prime deco is Armada. I think Armada Optimus looks brilliant in those colors. My second favorite is TFA. I can't wait for the new Legacy toys to be released In Nemesis colors.
Velocitron Scourge is such a letdown for me. RID was MY Transformers growing up. If he was accurate, I'd have bought him in a heartbeat. Instead, I just watched him arm shelves here in Australia.
He's worth it honestly. Especially since the toy hax decals are available to give him the rid 01 accurate deco. And the decals themselves are really affordable especially using the vengelus coupon code.
Something I've always wanted to see happen is any version of Optimus that uses a handheld axe instead of the hand replacement one has the axe remolded into a scythe when done as a Nemesis Prime. I would love if the new Animated Prime did that.
If they could do the Darkside Optimus colors on Gamer Edition Optimus, that would be awesome. Maybe something like blood red or dark energon purple for the axe's energy blade.
Aw, no Nemesis Primal?
And TJ, no love for Nemesis Leo Prime from Legacy?
It bugs me the repaint guy didn’t look at the original 2001 Scourge toy when they were doing Velocitron Scourge. Or else they did and decided to differently out of personal preference than getting it correct.
I'm going to do this tier list VERY different because I don't want to go over EVERY Nemesis Prime toy. There's really only 12 Evil repaints I actually think are even worth talking about... So I'm just going to do a top 10 list with a couple honorable mentions. And I'm not just sticking to black Optimus Prime repaints either because then there's really only THREE that I actually think hit all of the check boxes. I'm not just going to talk about design either because to be honest, black repaints are not really that exciting. I do like Black repaints but it gets kind of boring and repetitive when that's most of the list. I'm going to talk about character as well because that's where things get more interesting for me.
So starting with the honorable mentions...
Shattered Glass Optimus Prime, I do love the concept but I'm not as familiar with the character. I would probably put him higher if this concept left the comics and toy line and became more main stream in the actual cartoons or movies. I'm counting him because he's still an Evil Optimus Prime even though he's not a black repaint or a Decepticon.
Dark Hot Rod from Cyberverse... I'm BARELY counting him because he's not even a Decepticon, he's just Emo Hot Rod. Nothing about this character makes any sense. He fell into a tar pit with Drift/Deadlock and Deadlock died in that tar pit but Hot Rod came out with a black paint job and a moody personality change. And later in the series he returns to his Red coloring and his personality shifts back as well like the whole Dark Hot Rod thing never even happened. What was the point of that? Just so they could sell a black repaint of his toys? The only reason I'm even mentioning this exists is so I can talk about another Black Hot Rod that did it better but in an over all worse series.
Now onto the top 10 list properly...
10. TLK Nemesis Prime, it's literally just Optimus Prime mind controlled by Quintessa. They don't even recolor him, he just has some weird markings on the side of his face and that's it.
9. RID2015 Motormaster, yes I consider Motormaster to be an evil black Optimus Prime just because of his vehicle mode and that one episode of the G1 cartoon where he was written that way. RID 2015 doesn't really write him that way and he never even fights Optimus Prime, they're never on screen together, that's the main reason I have him so low on the list. But I do still like his design in the series and it was nice seeing a Motormaster again after so many years.
8. Cybertron Nemesis Breaker, character wise he's not really the most existing. He doesn't speak, I believe he's literally just a shadow of Leobreaker that was granted life some how. The wiki said he has a connection to Unicron but Unicron was never actually in that series, they just referenced him a few times to try to force a connection to Armada and Energon. The most interesting thing about him is that both Optimus and Megatron have the ability to combine into a Savage Claw mode. I'm probably never even going to get the original Leobreaker because Optimus can't combine with Leobreaker and Wingsaber at the same time and I'm trying to cut down on repaints to save money but I would actually like to have Megatron and Nemesis Prime combined... except I don't own either of those figures cause I could never find anything from Cybertron when the show was running.
7. Rodimus Cron or Nemesis Hot Rod/Rodimus Unicronus in the toy line from the Prime Wars Trilogy. They just called him Rodimus Cron in the cartoon. This guy is actually a proper Decepticon. He's still actually just Hot Rod but now instread of falling into a tar pit, Overlord forcably puts the Matrix of Chaos into his chest. It's actually kind of interesting that there's a Unicron powered Decepticon Matrix. And Hot Rod has held both versions of the Matrix at some point. This is what I mean but they did it better but it's a much worse series. My main issue with the design though is if you put a Purple Autobot insignia on him he turns into SG Rodimus, they're exactly the same. In fact I think that figure came with an optional sticker Sheet so you could have him as either a Decepticon version of main universe Hot Rod or the SG version. It's also worth noting that in the cartoon they gave Nemesis Hot Rod a face plate which the toy doesn't have so you can only see his evil goatee when he's in his Rodimus Unicronus form but they still always just call him Rodimus Cron regardless of what mode he's in. Not sure why the toy gave him 2 different names neither of which is what he's actually called in the cartoon.
6. War for Cybertron Trilogy Nemesis Prime, this is another version where the character actually is Optimus Prime being controlled for evil but this time it's Unicron doing the controlling, he's actually a black repaint, and because there are time travel shenanigans going on in the series, he gets to fight a version of himself who hasn't become him yet. That being said it is weird how Galvatron and Nemesis Prime are both presented as future versions of Megatron and Optimus Prime who were given upgrades by Unicron and are both being controlled by Unicron but Megatron actually gets a whole new body as Galvatron but Optimus only gets a new paint job as Nemesis? How exactly is Nemesis Prime so much stronger than Optimus? How powerful is that black paint?
5. Armada Nemsis Prime: This is Sideways... He only uses this form in ONE episode of the entire series and that episode is called "Puppet" implying that he's controlling Nemesis Prime but the way the episode is actually animated, they're the same character. Sideways kind of morphs into a Black Optimus Prime, becomes supper powerful, powerful enough to take on 5 guys at once including the real Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, Megatron, Starscream, and Cyclonus. And the only reason they finally won is because the Mini-cons gave them a Powelinx upgrade that changes their color schemes and repaired all the damage Nemesis Prime did to them. After that episode Nemesis Prime turned back into Sideways and then never used that form ever again. He did also have Optimus Prime's trailer and super mode in the cartoon but he only ever had a Deluxe toy so there's never been a repaint that actually includes the trailer. Hopefully the recent articulated Legacy Armada Optimus Prime will get a Nemesis Prime repaint and actually give us that trailer from the cartoon.
4. G1 Motormaster, who I fully admit is only on this list because of "Masquerade", it's one of my favorite G1 episodes even though it makes no sense how PAINT can turn Optimus Prime into Motormaster when they look nothing alike in robot mode. I'm willing to let the nonsense slide because it's silly 80's cartoon logic. It's the reason why the Stunticons are one of my favorite combiner teams. You can disagree with me all you want but I'm counting it damn it!
3. Optimal Megatron from Beast Machines... it's just Optimal Optimus with a different face, smooth shoulders, and no beast mode and I am never going to stop asking for a toy of this design till we actually get one. It's such a simple obvious retool and some how it's still never happened. Even 3rd parties have made their own take on this design and still haven't done a Megatron version of it. Give me that Megatron damn it! And yes I'm counting it because it's technically an evil version of an Optimus design. And I would rank him higher because of the character but I think it's unfair to include things that happened before he was actually in that body.
2. Prime Nemesis Prime... so really this isn't an actual character, he's a mecha piloted by Silas and Silas is the real reason I have him ranked so high. Nemesis Prime was again only really in 1 episode fully but I love every episode Silas is in and just associate Nemesis Prime so much with Silas that it feels like he was in a lot more of the series than he actually was. It also helps that we got to see a lot of the process of how Nemesis Prime was designed and built before he was fully realized. Also, design wise, I do have to point out that the toy is not at all accurate to how he appeared in the show. It seems like there was a concept version that was never used that's actually a black Optimus Prime with the familiar stripes you would see on Scourge but the toy didn't include the stripes and put the Decepticon insignia in a different spot. The show he's never even a Decepticon and he's not a black repaint. Nemesis Prime has the same colors as Optimus Prime but they're much darker muted tones with a dirty rusted texture over his entire body that gives him a very different look while still using the same colors as a traditional Optimus Prime. He has Autobot insignia as well because Silas essentially impersonates Optimus to gain access to military bases. Oh he also seems to have a yellow/green Energon glow rather than the blue glow that Optimus has. I believe because he was powered by Synthetic Energon which also had that glow.
1. RID2001 Scourge, still one of the all time best evil Optimus Primes out there. He's such a great evil Optimus Prime that he over shadowed the original G2 Laser Rod Optimus Prime version of that mold. Every time I see a modern G2 Laser Rod Optimus Prime I keep wanting them to make Scourge and they've still never done it. The Generations figure they did as a convention exclusive with the cartoon accurate colors but there's a toy accurate version that actually has Decepticon insignias rather than than upside down G2 Autobot insignias. I have his original toy but it's the American version with the Decepticon insignias, that's what I generally think of when I think of this character. The Titans Return mold was done as Black Convoy by Takara but Hasbro never made Scourge. And the recent Legacy version still has the wrong insignias and is part of an exclusive toy line that never came out in my area. He's such a good character in the show. I like how they explain that he's not an exact copy of Optimus Prime because he scanned Optimus and a tanker truck at the same time, that's why he looks like Optimus in robot mode but has a different vehicle mode. He's also technically part human because there was a human driver in that truck who also got scanned. This isn't apparent right away but it becomes plot relevant later in the series. He's more than just an Evil Black Optimus Prime repaint and that's why he ranks so high on this list. If just judge him based on design alone I'd put him lower but I'm including character as well. There are more interesting designs than oh look another black repaint but this is by far the best written character on this list.
You forgot Nemesis Primal and Black Lio Convoy.
And you forget your place
@marshallwilson7077 and you forget yours.
No monkey nemesis? D:
Can you cut in a close-up shot of the bot you are commenting on? It’s hard to see them in a tiny picture that you move on a tier. Thanks
Armada Nemesis Prime is the First Nemesis Prime and should be considered a Grail.
Would it be possible to make a tier list of 3rd party transformers makers, or would that be too complicated?
I'm all about Rules. Animated Nemesis Prime is Disqualified. It is what it is.
Very fitting for me to comment, but black repaints are awesome I like it when the figure has teal it works well, scourge is dope
I like Nemesis Prime and RiD Scourge better when they aren’t just the basic cab robot. Optimus Prime has some varied and interesting designs that aren’t based on the 1984 toy and cartoon design.
I'm surprised there's a KO instead of the MPM figure
Toxitron > Nemesis Prime
In terms of Nemesis Prime designs, I think the best ones are usually the ones that use atypical Optimus designs as a basis. Go! Hunter Nemesis Prime and the Adventure repaint of Power Surge Optimus are good examples of what I’m talking about. My personal favorite NP, however, is probably the Velocitron Collection Scourge. Yes, it’s an insult to RID 2001 Black Convoy, but dang it traditional Nemesis Prime colors look so pretty on the Laser Prime mold.
From a conceptual standpoint, Nemesis Prime has never been done in fiction in a way that interests me. G1 Motormaster did the Optimus rivalry better and first and Of Masters and Mayhem Toxitron does the twisted clone aspect better. The closest time Nemesis Prime ever got to being interesting was RID 2001 and he basically had all his character drained from him the second the show decided he was too dangerous as an independent baddie.
My ideal Nemesis would fold the character into Motormaster. In my personal canon, Motormaster began life as an evil clone of Optimus the same way the rest of the Stunticons were evil knockoffs of Hot Rod (Wild Rider), Arcee (Dragstrip), Skids (Breakdown), and Jazz (Dead End). However, out of disdain for how Megatron had Shockwave made them, Nemesis and his crew struck out on their own and upgraded themselves into new, more individualized forms- in Nemesis’s case, he became Motormaster.
He despises both Optimus Prime and Megatron for being the reasons why he exists, and he’s made it his life mission to take out both.
@frenchfriedbagel7035 so the netflix series?
Idk, I still really love the look of Velocitron Scourge. I’ve been using him as my Nemesis Prime, and he just looks amazing. Not accurate at all, but still good as his own thing.
I like how Velocitron Scourge looks and the clear pink plastic. I mean I think of him as Nemesis Prime anyway so it makes no difference to me. I like you T.J. but you just have these little things like Velocitron Scourge that you've beaten the dead horse so much it's paste at this point.
I'll called Omega prime
Velocitron Scourge is doubly frustrating for me, the chest is wrong and the shoulder articulation sucks.
Nemesis Mammoth looks BRUTAL, I need it, I think I even prefer it to normal Big Convoy.
And while I do get your point with the blue windows, Classics Nemesis is one of my favorites for one simple detail that NO OTHER Nemesis has done: he's not monochromatic, the head and legs aren't the same black (or dark blue for Armada) as the rest of the body, that should be the norm if Scourge and Nemesis Prime are to truly stand apart of each other.
And of course, RiD Scourge is the best one, he's so, so gorgeous looking, evil and elegant.
Dark list, mate! 🎉
Though I do have many, Hunter, plus the Wonderfest iterations of Video Game, Siege & LGEX Black Convoy, are actively atop my display shelves along with the ultra-amazing Universe Mammoth.
WARNING ⚠️: The beige parts on the Armada Nemesis version have turned overly brittle over time. Mine has snapped in several spots (even at the thickest parts), and so has his partner Mini-Con, Run-Over (who is sadly almost entirely composed of the same coloured material). I even bought a second Mini-Con to double-wield only to have it suffer the same fate after all these years (degeneration began circa 2022). So BEWARE! Thankfully, the same beige parts on the mammoth have endured since its release until today without any issues other than looseness/floppines over time... and like so, has his clear plastic bits stayed intact. 😅 Fingers crossed, things stay that way.🤞
Stay evil, my friend!
PS. Hunter Nemesis is using an alternate head as well (designed with a face plate). 😊
PotP Nemesis Prime is my favourite. The Optimus Prime colours didn’t look right to me.
Honestly I think people are way too harsh on Velocitron Scourge. Yeah it doesn't look 1:1 like RID Scourge, but does it really have to be? As its own figure it does look great
Well when it's literally labeled "Robots in Disguise 2001 Universe Scourge"... it really should look much closer to the source material than "bog standard Nemesis Prime". I'd personally like Hasbro to take another crack at it someday, though I don't particularly like the Legacy Laser Prime mold enough to buy it again, especially with toy prices being what they are these days.
Stopping any kids from saying "first".
Just trading one evil for another lol
22:30
I feel like you're REALLY reaching to justify putting it in the bottom of the barrel over something hilariously petty as "It does not look Exactly like he did when we last saw him" , especially with the Timelines being higher, because literally every detail of it fits the character perfectly. It's a figure that tells a story in the same way the original Shattered Glass run did. Your brain imagines a few extra steps to fill in the blanks as to where the more prominent red came from, the axe, and if it has anything to do with the matrix in his chest. Discarding that kind of factor just feels wrong if you're ranking a figure based exclusively on the vibe.
Come on, bloody tusks had to be on top. He was also the first "Nemesis." I feel sorry for your lighting director.
> Includes PotP Nemesis in the "top ten figures of the 2010s" video.
> Doesn't place it in the "holy grail" tier in the Nemesis Prime tier list video.
It may have been one of the best of the 2010s but that does not mean it is better than other nemesis primes or warrant it being in the holy grail tier.
68th comment ❤
RIGHT GETTING SICK OF THIS NOW why is it when ever on of my figures I want to touch or gets broken or missing you lit make videos about it in the transformers Well not community but cult
It's abysmal STOP IT ITS MAKING ME UNWELL
My brother in Primus, what the hell are you trying to say?
