My idea was that the Fossilizers were a product of one of Terrorsaur’s schemes (which he roped a reluctant Scorponok into) to overthrow Megatron with an army of reprogrammed protoforms. It ended badly, and the newborn “Fossilizers” struck out on their own, becoming an aggresssively neutral third faction who would occasionally help out the Maximals if need be. They stuck around after Megatron was captured and the Maximals left for Cybertron, protecting the Ark’s wreckage until their unfortunate demise during a cave-in. This, ironically, resulted in their bony remains being discovered by the Autobots, who would then use them as inspiration for the Dinobots. What’s more, Wheeljack incorporated some of the Fossilizers’ CNA into the Dinobots, resulting in their personalities being partially influenced by their genetic bases. Grimlock mirrored the cantankerous T-Rex Paleotrex, Slug inherited Ractonite’s bad temper, Sludge inherited Tricranius’s might-over-microchips mentality, Snarl got Masterdominus’s apathy and self-loathing, and Swoop mirrored the chipper cyber-ninja Wingfinger.
@@Roam85 They had them, but unfortunately, United has abandoned the QR code bios entirely. A shame, really- I'd've loved to see what they cooked up for the Armorizers.
I miss when figures got a full bio or even a short mini comic. If those things still existed, many of these toy-exclusive characters would be more memorable and maybe the toys would sell better.
Being that I love this figures, I made my own personal fiction of them being cybertronians sent to help the cast of beastwars but that accidently hit the planet too hard and their scanners broke, so instead of being able to tell that the bones were part of an animal (like megatron) they just turned in to bones, and I made them different flavors of dumb
I actually liked the fossilizers. I thought they were a pretty cool gimmick for the toyline and the figures were fun ! I'm glad you're trying to turn these into *real* characters.
It sucks that the toys were received poorly by most TF collectors, but personally, I love those toys and the general concept. I wish they revisit the idea at some point, and I still want to see the scrapped concepts for the Sabretoothed cat and Alligator fossilizers
6:46 I had this idea of her being a former Predacon turned Maximal, having a slightly different (but somewhat similar) name change, and have her beast mode based on the creamsicle colored Dracorex from the Jurassic World toyline.
I really like having Maximals and Predacons that really stand out like these. The Spindle that came from the wreckers Amazon pack might be my favorite even though she’s just an autobot
My idea for these guys were that they are some of the damaged pods in bw that scanned dino bones. The whole gimmick is a result of the pods malfunctioning. Paleotrex is a knight like figure who has some honor, not really liking to end his enimies and enjoys a fight. Vertebreak is a goofy squire for paleotrex. Ractonite is an engineer lug alongside scorpinok who like you said charges into fights and is headstrong. Dracodon is an ancient maximal who gets heavily irradiated and loosing his memory Wingfinger is a ninja bot who works with bw grimlock whose trying to make a bw dinobot team Tricranius is dracodons guardian and caretaker with lava based powers Skelivore was heavily corrupted by dark energon and is making up a g1/bw infernicus team Transmutate is rebuilt in an experiment Spindle is a young and recruit member of the bw era wreakers Masterdominus is a elder member of the wreakers and is spindles teacher Also paleotrex, ractonite, and wingfinger can combine Spindle and masterdominus can combine Skelivore and the united rocks become infernicus And all of them minus transmutate and skelivore can combine into a giant beast mode
For my Robertverse, I consider any of the Maximal & Predacon Fossilizers as additional members of Big Convoy's, Magmatron's & T-Wrecks' respective crews (with actual skin, scales, fur & muscle covered around their bones).
Oh I LOVE this, Transformers as a whole is _SEVERELY_ missing personality on its toys, not all of them can appear in fiction so they *need* to have some kind of bio again.
TJ FanFic Corner LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'd love to see more this for all the new characters released from Combiner Wars-onward that don't have any real fiction (if the Wiki had to make stuff up, I'd love to see TJ's take on the character)!
My personal head-cannon for the origins of the fossilizers is 2 words: Dark, Energon. Tarantulus was experimenting with dark energon and infused it into fossils he collected from around his lab, transforming them into indestructible, energon radiation resistant abominations of bones that simply disassemble & reassemble themselves between forms. even capable of grouping together to form massive clustered combiners. Tarantulus would proceed to mass clone them and use them as foot soldiers in the preadacon army to...varying effect. the fossilizers themselves, for the most part, are totally incapable of speach, the most prominent outlier for this rule being Vertibreak. Vertibreak is an cocky loudmouth who taunts her enemy's wile harasing them with her whip tail. she would later become a sort of "Queen" to the fossilizers after taranulus's demise. Paleotrex kinda matches with your take, however she(yes my paleotrex is a girl) takes it 1 step further via her only form of vocal communication: Maniacal clacking of teeth similar to laughter. Ractonite is near 1:1 with yours. Wingfinger was a prototype for an ptyradactal that escaped before tarantulus could finish the programing process. he cant fly but BOY can he run! he talks rarely and has difficulty making contact with his fellow maximals, although he has a strong connection with Airazor. Due to the imperfect cloning process Tarantulus was using, some rejects were formed. Skelivore is actually made entirely out of dark energon crystals,DON'T TOUCH. Dracodon constantly secret out dangerous acid that corrodes most things that touch him, making him difficult to stand near without getting hurt. Tricranius is made out of molten rock and can breath fire. Spindle & masterdominus technically both exist during the beast wars & the autobot/decepticon war due to them accidentally being left behind and going into stasis lock until modern day.
My headcannon is the Fossilizers are kinda like the Yauja, they’re whole culture is based around hunting and they put the symbol on their first kill somewhere on third bodies (yes this means Spindle and Masterdominus first kills were Wreckers)
This was super enjoyable, actually won me over to the fossilizer idea a lot more. Found myself thinking, "oh, see if that was true, i might've bought that character". Please do this for the rock guys :D
Wingfinger being a chatterbox makes me think he's like an intense anime character that can beat anyone in a fight with the only issue being he over explains every move he does.
Really disappointing we didnt get more Fossilizers.. I wanted the sabertoothed tiger one.. and I'd really like to get the spino and the two mammoths as singles instead of the dual packs. I only got the one with Megatron because Skelevore is amazing looking
7:30 ngl i love the idea he's more like a animated blitzwing type like he has Two personalitys like when his mask is up its a calm smart devoted predicon whos very strategic he makes perfect ambushes/traps. But when the mask is down its a crazy personality who's laughing and going nuts who just loves slashing at the steel of his enemies and chasing/hunting his foes but this means he falls into alot of traps because he doesn't think things through he's quite insane and animalistic so animalistic he doesn't really see himself as a predicon but thats the side that lets him hunt. Whitch makes a dynamic of the smart one making a plan to trap the maximals but just before they get to the trap he switches personality and jumps into battle because he just can help himself. Obviously this makes the smart personality hate the other one but realises that the wild crazyy fighting style of his other half is what keeps him unpredictable which allows alot of his traps to work essentially using his crazy side as bait.
Ty for doing this vid. I just bought my first Fossilizers at Eckman's Toy and Comic Expo @ San Antonio, Tx. today. Trying to get the EX Combiner Straxus and Comic Straxus because I want to put the Fossilizers and Mineral Armorizers on him.
personally i always headcannoned the fossilizers to be a group of ancient, factionless warriors who were awakened during the beast wars era and branded by the faction that found them, with Masterdominus and Spindle leaving the maximals for the wreckers by the end of kingdom
Yeah my head canon was they were a thrid faction that arose thanks to some experiments. Like you thought i figured they would pair off with the factions depending on who fit them the best.
I like to think of them as created by beast wars Megatron to grow his ranks on Earth then use them all to take over Cybertron but the maximals foil his plans and destroyed most of his army only leaving a few left some join up with a maximals the rest of them staying with the predacons
I personally have my own head canon for Paleotrex because his head is desined to look like Optimus Primal's original mace weapon so in my mind they're meant to go together. Because Paleotrex is a Predacon I don't think he'd willingly become a weapon for Primal so I just imagin that the Fossilizers aren't actually meant to be used as weapons but that their parts do become weapons and armor after they've been defeated in battle. So Opimus Primal is just carrying around the head of a dead Predacon using it as a weapon. It seems a little violent for Optimus Primal but I can't think of any other way to explain Paleotrex's head being stored in a compartment in Primal's arm on the original toy. An alternative back story I actually just thought of because Optimus Primal also has 2 maces in his Transmetal body is if Paleotrex also got a Transmetal form where he switches sides as a Maximal and those Maces on Transmetal Optimus Primal become parts of Transmetal Paleotrex. I really hope Hasbro does make more Fossilizers in the future cause there's a few unreleased ones in the Kingdon art like the Sabertooth Tiger Optimus Primal is wearing.
I also think it’d be really funny if masterdominus, in complete contrast to spindle, despises leadfoot with a passion, due to master dominus being a melee fighter and leadfoot being more of a ranged fighter
I like alot of them but i feel maybe Tri-cranius could be a fembot as well, not just to be a love interest for wing finger but to also make a nice call back to solus prime and her ability to make things
I would have them as a new breed of Maximals and Predacons when Cybertron becomes a Technorganic planet after Beast Machines. I would have the Armorizers as either the first transformers on Cybertron or the primitive inhabitants of technorganic Cybertron after Beast Machines.
The fun of a toyline with no fictional background is that you can make your own story. Considering Transformers has many universes, it can all be considered canon.
My idea was that the Fossilizers were a product of one of Terrorsaur’s schemes (which he roped a reluctant Scorponok into) to overthrow Megatron with an army of reprogrammed protoforms.
