      Nah, I didn't mean making trance music with just FM synthesis lol, I meant in general
      I always liked electronic music a lot, and trance was the one genre I liked the most (alongside synthwave anyway), mostly because I always liked listening to Megaman ZX/ZX Advent's soundtrack, which a lot of it is full of trance music
      because of that, I was always curious on how to even make this kind of music and all the techniques that come with it, but honestly from what I can gather, FM synthesis will definitely be a pretty big part with making this sorta stuff, heh

      Yes. As far as I'm aware the Yamaha chip inside the Megadrive has four oscillators per channel. Providing one of those oscillator can go below 20hz you can create a say a low pass filter making the overall sound sound fuller.

      But then the machine would have to be more expensive too. I'm just disappointed the SMS' chip is so shit. Imagine the Megadrive could use the NES or Game Boy for additional channels.

      A lot of the expenses the console had was making all the additional ports for the addons. Before the Mega CD that port was originally used for a some finance calculator, it's the reason the Motorola chip was gimped in processing power. Sega should have had extra ports where the cartridge slot if they were bothered about base hardware costs as this would have given them more modular capabilities but we all know that at that point in time Sega was more experimental than having any foresight.

    Savage can really make genny sound hardware redeem itself. Nd makes u guess why did many games underutilise it so much?

      FM synthesis is a black art few can learn and master

    • @jc_dogen
      @jc_dogen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Blink_____ it's not really all that hard. it just takes experimentation and paying attention to what each change does to the sound. and from there just a lot of practice, like anything else.

      If it were difficult (which I am not doubtful) 80s nd 90s were about using fm synthesis.. Then why did ppl find it difficult to program genny sound hardware? Was it d subpar toolkits or lack of actual knowledge of fm synthesis at bare metal level? Sorry guys so many questions just curious. Just wished my genesis sounded this amazing for every game I played. Tho there are notable scores tht genesis had but few compared to its vast library of games.
