Homer exploding fireworks

Homer asks Bart for a lighter, but he doesn't have any. No matches,
either. So Homer lights it over the kitchen stove. And burns off
a large portion of the fuse. Homer plays hot
potato with the firecracker until he tosses it in the dishwasher
where it blows up. At night, Marge is cleaning the mess.

Respect to Marge for being perceptive enough to do a 180 on the squares and tang.
I would've thought that one of the kids would've seen with their peripheral vision her walk in and u-turn. She would've been walking out by the time they looked up, which they would've done. When a person sees somebody with peripheral vision, it's an automatic subconscious reaction to look up at that person. How the person reacts to the person once they see them straight on depends. If it's someone uninteresting, they'll look away again and go back to what they're doing. If it's someone they like, they'll talk to them. If it's someone weird looking, or great looking, they'll keep looking and stare at them. But whichever one of those it turns out to be, immediately looking up when they first enter their peripheral vision is an automatic subconscious response. This is just something I've read about before.
@@alvexok5523 it took me longer to read that than it did to watch the clip, well done

Marge was pretty funny haha.
I’m a little disappointed she wasn’t with the enemas
The part where Marge comes in with snacks, hears the kids talk about how uncool they are and walks back out is hilarious.
If this episode was made today, she wouldn't have turned around.
I actually zoned out the moment I noticed the scene had to do with Lisa and had to go back cause I missed it......

How she does it completely straight faced is priceless

Never until this moment I realized that Marge is cleaning up Homer's mess in the background at 2:15. Always thought that Homer's escapade went unnoticed or left off afterwards
"Now it's _Marge's_ time to shine!"
Also notice she is extremely pissed, she knows the god damn door was right next to the machine and he could have easily thrown it out there
All the mess he makes needs to be cleaned off somehow obviously.
Also later in the episode Marge is washing the dishes and half of them are broken and burned
That's pretty awesome how they left little subtleties like that. You don't see that in TV today.
It's funny how Homer values the beer more than losing his hand 😂😂😂

I love Marge unpacking Homer's bag and saying "Gee Homer I don't know what you have planned for tonight but count me out."
And the fact that acually Homer isn´t interested in all those sex things but in the fireworks is also great.
It's so great because they didn't have to add that. They could have just forgotten the things he bought and be done with it. But instead they had Marge inspect them 😂 And Homer could have just bought the fireworks straight up. I mean they don't just disappear and he just shows up with the fireworks. There's continuity.
Did you buy any meat? 😅
Best part is Marge standing in the background cleaning the kitchen floor after Homer's accident! It's night time, so you just know she's been mopping the floor all day. That's comedy gold. xD
And how the way she treated Bart in that scene. It seems like it's Bart that's being blamed for what Homer had done.

The series between 1995 and 2008 at least are my favourite.

This is what I love about Homers idiocy. He causes destruction, but he never actually puts his family in danger. If this happened in Family Guy, Peter would have tossed it to Meg and ran, leaving her to get horribly hurt.
If I recall, Peter once blew his fingers off after tying a bunch of fireworks together and holding it in his hand.
I mean he chokes his kid, just cuz peter is worse doesnt mean he is a good father 🤷

Wait, why does Flanders have 2 refrigerators?
Edit: That was a joke. Pretty sure it was just an animation error.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed that
Because they are small international-sized ones, not the huge American two-door ones that Walmart packaging is designed for?
One could be a freezer and one a fridge freezer. We have two at home, a large spacious freezer and a smaller fridge freezer combo.
It's the same fridge. Homer's gesture and the camera change just make it seem like there's a fridge in another corner, except you'll also notice the identical fridge magnets and counter with a microwave oven on top next to the fridge. The different colors can be dismissed because coloring goofs were fairly common in the show during the 1990s.
If you piece together the way the kitchen is furnished, you would have the stove to the north, the dining set to the west, the fridge and microwave oven to the east, and the dishwasher and sinks to the south.
One for the Flanders’ one for guests.
One of my favorite scenes in the series. The juxtaposition of a cartoon firework followed by realistic consequences of destroying the kitchen plumbing is why this show was legendary.
