Before the Confederates were about to surrender after being surrounded, reinforcements aka Tanks came in and made the Union retreat. However during the retreat some Bavarian Genius named Frink made a steampunk spider with nylon webs to attack the Union and Confederates before fleeing the battle. Legend says the Scottish East won the battle without seeing any combat.
It was a jab at the Will Smith film Wild Wild West where there is a giant mechanical steampunk spider in the climax that everyone laughed at given it set in West less than a decade after the Civil War (Grant was the President in the film putting it between 1869 and 1877).
Did Grant and Jackson ever come into contact with each other during the Civil War? I thought by the time Jackson died, Grant was still fighting in the Western Theater and did not have any opportunity to face Jackson when he began his Overland Campaign.
