  • This is a video showing you how you can make basic stencils using your hot glue gun. This was also my first time doing a major edit where I sped up the video and did a voice-over in some parts. I hope you enjoy and if you do please leave me thumbs up and subscribe!

    You can reheat the stencils you don't like. I picked up a heat dish (for lack of a better term), reheated glue threads and pieces, then used the melted glue gun cast a-ways for dipping or small area spreading with a toothpick. You can mend a stencil break the same way.

    I love these...while watching I had a great idea...use a glass from a picture frame and an easy to trace picture...place the picture right side up under the glass...then use your glue gun to trace over the picture...you can trace some or all of the picture...I've never used this method with a glue gun, but I have made faux stained glass...

    Good job Yvonne . One thing I saw on you tube someone sprinkled or rubbed cornstarch on stencils so they wouldn't stick together when stored. I heard through comments that parchment paper works, but you have to wait until totally dry. Wax paper I heard sticks to hot glue ,so probably best to avoid that .

    Great idea! I was looking for certain animal stencils and the commercial ones are very cheesy except for a few species, so this might be a way to make more realistic ones simply by tracing a photo to get a nice realistic silhouette of any animal.

    👍 Fantastic idea for the words ! I have seen a video of using a glue gun to make our own stamps. But I had not thought of making word stamps or stencils. I'm gonna practice practice practice... then never buy stamps again !!! Unless it's a stamp I can't make and really "need"... LOL 🙋 Nana in se OK usa

    Can I offer my own (or ones I've seen elsewhere) ... try using these as actual embellishments...especially the words...paint them (or don't clean them after using them as stencils, the paints stick nicely) stick them on canvases or journal pages.
    Also when making them I found ages ago that if I took two non stick mats and a placed one on top whilst the glue was still soft I could lightly press down and get a far more even flatter stencil that gives a sharper image. Don't try to peel either away until they cold as usual.
    Thanks again...new subby here.x

    Enjoyed your video immensely! One of the best I've seen. Your ideas are creative, and I must say...you're a pro with that glue gun!! I especially love the words and will be doing a lot of that for Christmas gifts. One suggestion, and I have done this just recently, is to make the design...Shirley, words, etc., and attach to a prepainted ball ornament or Styrofoam ball of any size, then paint the design with glitter nail polish or whatever look you want. Unique and pretty. Thanks...will definitely be watching more of your videos. .and, already subscribed!!

      Parsell Art it’s a simple silicone baking or bbq mat. You can spend a ton of money on an actual craft mat or grab a baking mat. Much cheaper, although they don’t last as long, but you can replace them no still be $$ ahead. Lol

    When you say the results from spraying aren’ clear, do you mean the designs aren’t sharp. People use terminology sometimes that is not specific for me.

    • @mytherapyroom
      @mytherapyroom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deerheart Adornments thank you for your feedback. Terminology is very important, I agree. Yes, when I said not clear, I meant not crisp. The edges of the images became quiet faded out. 👍🏻

    so many of these are incomplete...do you press the glue down with something on top? as I see some do..what do you put the glue on? I just tried on plexi and a failure so just bought a silicone...the other thing the mini guns suck ..got a big one now I see you have the long glue stick which shoulda been suggested...who has time to read all the comments with so many you tube...I"m a grannie in hurry to go with projects for my grandkids and this has been annoying but at least still a wonderful resource that people contribute their discoveries...

      +Deene Ann Ford Wow!! Thank you for your constructive positive feedback.. lol. I'm sorry you think my stencils are incomplete....I happen to love the incompleteness. And about the long glue stick.....ya, totally should have suggested that right off the bat, before I discovered it myself. I guess I should have thought of all that before filming. I'm a little confused about it being annoying but still a wonderful resource....so I guess, thank you for thinking I'm an annoying wonderful resource!
