A display with 45% NTSC coverage can only reproduce approximately 45% of the full NTSC color gamut. This indicates a narrower color range so if for instance you'd like to edit videos or photos the colours the display might not be suitable. Gaming for a long session I found that it definitely remained cool - it does get a little loud though when the fans are working which you can hear at 1:40 of this video.
