Hi thanks for making this video, managed to get my mums machine working again, got all 3 capacitors from Maplins, 680µF-10v maplin code N70DG, 470µF-10V maplin code VH46A or DT67X. 100µF 25V maplin code VH37S or DT62S, you can use a higher voltage rating capacitor with no problems, you cant go too big else it wont physically fit in the case, many people replace the 680µF with a 1000µF capacitor, I replaced all 3, all 3 existing capacitors showed signs of being domed. Note to people with a small soldering Iron you will struggle to melt the solder unless you have at least a 25W soldering iron, use a solder sucker or solder braid to remove the older solder, also a good idea is to blow inside the plug on connectors as its easy to pick up fluff in them when when you take the PCB out. I did this job from start to finish in 1 hour, it took 30 mins to get the capacitors from maplins LOL, all in this saved me £350 for £1.50 worth of capacitors and an hours work.
Glad I could help mate. it's good to have a visual inspection first(because it's 2018 and for liability reasons LEGAL WARNING: DO NOT EVER ATTEMPT REPAIRS YOURSELF OR YOU COULD DIE) cause like you said, it literally cost you £1.50 to fix rather than spending £350 for a new one when you need a clean shirt for Monday and its the weekend or when you need an expense like a hole in the head. It took me a little longer than 30 minutes cause I had a hangover. And yes to a good soldering iron. One I got ain't great and I would have done this job with a more powerful one in half the time. Definitely good to have a solder sucker cause it a bulky soldering. Recently, I had a power surge, not a stranger to frequent power cuts in the UK either, and the error showed up once. I presume those cuts and surges were to blame for one of my old PC's, fridge number of PSU's and the washing machine to pack up.
I had the same problem and Piotr hats off to you man for your marvellous video to get the module out. All though it has taken you a bit longer, your video made me take the module out in 10 mins. I am an electronic design engineer my self. I have changed the 22uF 400V capacitor that you have opted not to change as I have designed off-line SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) with same Power Integrations IC - Tiny Series TNY263 chip on the PCB. I can add some further details to help you prevent the same capacitors - Electrolitic Cpacitors come with a working hours specification in the range of 20,000 hours - 50,000 hours. Manufatureres pick the lowest hours for the obvious cost saving reasons. Switch the washing machine off at the power socket to save the Capacitors working hours. Keep up the good work man ;-)
Cheers pal. I'm delighted you've enjoyed it and given such a good and helpful comment even though at the time of recording I had a bit of a hangover and setting up the tripod, lights and cameras was taking a bit of time and generally I thought it'd be a crap video no one will ever watch. I guess if I got up fresh and skipped trying to be a youtuber (LOL) I would have done it in 15 minutes ;-) but then many would have missed out. Very good suggestion as per changing the 22uF 400V capacitor as after my last power surge I did get the same error once so at least I'll bear in mind to change that one too and probably the whole cluster of 3 just for a good measure. But it works for now and I'm not that bothered. I agree with you on switching the washing machine off at the socket. Lucky I have a mains switch conveniently located, even though it is totally grandad thing to do, I do flick the switch off.
you made me smile whilst watching your video. The capacitors were probably ruining to the capacity of there voltage hence them blowing; manufactures use the minimum spec to keep costs down; by up rating the voltage in the capacious you have made them less likely to blow in the future. by the way it was you delivery of the video which made me smile. Colin
Colin Brooks all in a days work 😂. I should also mention how badly hangovered I was making this video. Yeah, I tinker with pcb's and stuff. Thanks for watching and if this video made you smile I hope my others do as good of a job. 😀
James Worby it should work ok but generally it's a good practice to change the whole bank as the rest might be on the out and you'll end up fixing it again in a year or so. But no worries. Glad I could be of help.
Awesome video thank you! My washing machine had been doing the flashing disco lights on and off for ages. Eventually just wouldn’t work and flashed constantly, even for a few seconds when power was off! Ordered and replaced the same capacitors as you said and it’s back to normal. All for £4. Thank you!! x
Hi thank you for the beautiful video I have a hotpoint washing machine the display , the keyboard working it takes water but the motor doesn't work I opened the control box but I couldn't see any short or damage what do you think please let me know if you have any information thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching it. It could be that the motor is blown or the motor control unit. You need to measure circuits and test continuity. That's where I would begin.
This is common problem with Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines. They used cheap electrical parts. Just replacing the C17 Capacitor will resolve the problem. I would do it myself except I don't know how to solder.

Had the same problem with my hotpoint Aquarius. Changed the large capacitor which had blown and all now working (so far!) Thanks for the advice!

when i saw it was that the pannel just turned off and turned on again as you can know that it started to stop
it happened when we did it on a spin cycle

TH-cam search: how to solder. ;-)

Thank you.
I did this a few months back and it working great, got caps for 5 for £1.Easy to solder..
coxy ofnewp
Is too late for me. I got a new washing machine. I wish I knew you lol
Gra Piken lol
i have the same one
it broke in 2019 and we could not fix it well on the spin cycle
hi my one hotpoint all light flash but i replace but still not work
auto uk did you replace all of them?
Did maplin have them caps?
nope. had to go independent
+Piotr Miecznikowski ok thanks.
How old is the machine?
7-10 year old ish I think
the spin cycle sound stopped
it was wt761
