I was 11yrs old the first time I ever flew, and it was on Braniff 747 from DFW to Honolulu. So exciting and an amazing plane. I never had the opportunity to fly 747 again but so glad that I have that one memory as a kid. The 70's was certainly the golden age of air travel.
Greeetings from Albuquerque! Then-New Mexico Governor Jerry Apodaca was on that flight; you can see him starting at 2:14. These videos with in-flight footage are AWESOME! As we've seen, before "The Love Boat" there was "PartyPlane!"
This was N601BN, as N602BN was not delivered until 31 May 1979 and also never wore the white-fin version of the BN livery. Great uploads - keep them coming!
Yes, it's N601BN "The Big Orange" for the reasons you cite. As a 13 year old, I saw 601 at Gatwick on Saturday 9 September 1978 (Farnborough Airshow weekend - the small things we remember years later) - it was Braniff's sole 747 at that time.

Nothing in aviation compares to the space and comfort of flying on a 747 during this era. Style and service were the names of the game.
You know it's so funny how passengers break out in applause right at the moment of most danger.
