This was such a treat to listen to! Thank you for the historical background and the analysis of the rooms themselves. I love learning about Mrs Thorne’s rooms. Just extraordinary.

My parents wanted me as a kid to do doll houses but not me because I was too afraid of losing the small parts. When I see life like miniatures I'm in awe at the tiny scale and the beauty of detail.

Beautiful commentary, perfectly suited to the spirit of Narcissa and her art.

What an amazing woman, and man, who made these delightful just delightful miniature rooms, and the ingenuity that is involved. I am so glad I saw this video! My father made me a dollhouse when I was six years old, and most of the furniture etc.

I saw the Thorne rooms in Chicago. It was #1 on my list of things to see in Chicago when I went there.

What a lovely tour! And no apologies needed - thanks for the reference to my books (The Sixty-Eight Rooms series, Random House) at the end. Happy reading!

Saw the ones in the CIA in real life after seeing them in books. The realism is phenomenal.
Glad she decided to no longer use the dolls. They immediately destroy the vision of the scale and authenticity of the rooms. These aren't play toys, they are historic replications.
If you don't know, Colleen Moore's dollhouse is another amazing structure.

Sorry, can someone explain the "wrought iron embrasure" in the floor meant to dispel the winter chill? How does this work?
