Laverne Sullivan is one of my favorite miniaturists, I saw much of her work in the old Nutshell News magazines, unfortunately photography was so bad back then, the details are often hard to see. I've seen her work displayed at the Kansas City mini museum. This was wonderful, thank you all.
That house behind you is stunning. I'm a newbie and I'm preparing to renovate my daughters large house I've been busy collecting bits and pieces for over 2 years. I'm watching everything I can on you tube learning how to make miniature food and furniture. This house seems homemade I brought it at a boot fair 25 years ago one of our cats had her kittens in the lounge how she fitted in there I'll never know. I'm so excited to get working on it .
The NC Doll & Toy Museum in Spencer, NC is a great museum, except it needs more space to create better displays. Luckily, they will be moving to a larger location soon. Keep an eye out for it on social media. It's worth the visit but will be better when it moves.
@@DThomasMiniatures NC Doll & Toy Museum in Spencer is across from a railroad museum so it's an interesting day trip. Interesting story to how the Doll & Toy museum started to honor someone that died too young.
Never heard of your show. You popped up via an algorithm on you tube, fashion history channel I follow led to a video ( art history major too)? about Dutch miniature dollhouses, the interest was sparked by the novel, The Miniaturist. For me it wasn't worth the hype BUT, the novel intrigued me and kept me reading because of THE DOLLHOUSE. I am truly in awe of these precious pieces and of the astonishing dexterity, imagination! of the creators. I want a life size house like these! The Sherlock Holmes House, TALK OF MAXIMUM OBJECTS vs minimalism - I loathe the boring, grey, Bauhausian, not curriculum- wrong word, dictum? I follow the Tom Wolfe, credo, more is more, less is a bore. Thanks to all involved. A lovely diversion on another covid Sunday- I just heard we in Southern Ontario, Canada, are likely headed into lockdown number 3. So how pleasant to be housebound with miniature homes! I have to save and watch this again, as I was typing. I am not creative or imaginative or dexterous- I would love to know the artisans behind these. You see the exhibit but rarely learn of the somewhat eccentric ? people involved. What a daydream, neighbours who do this for a hobby or a living. I bow to the artisans! Since I was a young girl I've been drawn to tiny things- why are adults drawn to such things and dioramas and those quirky boxes like 3D collages, full of oddities? Pinterest is full of such treasures. So nice to meet you. Namaste, Z stay well, wear the mask. Z.
When I was in the 3rd grade, my teacher read a book about a witch on roller skates that lived in a dollhouse. I don't know the name of the story. If anyone is familiar with the story, please let me know. Thank you.
