It's funny you say that. I was in Dubai and a Veyron SUPER SPORT drove past me. I didn't hear it coming and barely heard it passing me. I captured it on video in "shopping for cars in Dubai"

Wow I remember watching this together with my non-car friends back in 2010 or so to show them how fast Bugatti was. Still it's one of the best and memorable videos for me on TH-cam

An M3. Quite possibly one of the most respectable mixes of performance, styling, build quality, and all around drivability in the sport coupe/sedan market.
They Veyron is a show off car..a car that you buy and display as a trophy. All this while you drive the M3 daily to work, the beach and grocery shopping. lol
If you bring to veyron to go grocery shopping, you'll bring back more than soda and cereal if you know what i mean ;)

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell I wouldn't totally agree. Yes, it is a collector's car, yes it is incredibly expensive and most of them will barely get out of the garage; but I instantly have a lot of respect for one whenever I see it on the streets. Whereas with someone in a BMW...
In my opinion the BMW is actually better looking. But of course it is not comparable with a Veyron in any sense cause they are not in the same league.

Is it better to have less cylinders and have quicker takeoffs or to have more cylinders and have a greater top end? The Veyron just seems like overkill..
Depends on your situation. In my opinion the most practical would be acceleration opposed to speed. With a top speed of around 260 mph, most people are too scared to go that fast, let alone have enough road to go that fast. With acceleration, you are still fast, considering most drag/street races are 1/4 mile at most.

Yeah the Veyron isn't realistic. I would rather have a run in a GT-R than a Veyron simply because of the launch and cornering abilities.

Dayton Sander I believe Clarkson from Top Gear mentioned how the Mclaren F1 coudl do 100 and then let the Veyron get off the line and beat it to 200. Their dragrace turned out differently but something happened to the turbos because of the dessert heat in UAE where they tested both cars. Also launch control wasnt engaged.

so guy pays 50 000 for a car goes shopping, to work, to see friends, to the track, to a show, basicaly anywhere and its perfect, the bugatti you pay over a million for a car that isnt great on a track, you wouldnt drive every day, mpg of a bugatti is a joke, you dont even get 1000 hp unless you take a special test. so its 50 000 for a all round amazing car, which you can race, drag, drift, do burnouts, but also not stupid on fuel all things considered, its comfy and easy to drive etc or you pay 1000000 for a car that you can onyl drag race really, and i supose track days aswell, but its would be a stupid expensive on tires, fuel, insurance etc and wouldnt be that fun. BMW for the win

well if you you dont like drifting and want a cheaper fwd car just for handling id go for integra type R, not a civic, but your not getting what im saying, a beemer is fast, drifts, drags, lovely handling, but still something you wouldnt have a problem driving daily, with 5 seats and decent boot, now a veyron, so complex and technological it probably has no feeling, if you wanna go top speed it takes too long to get there so you could go faster in other cars, you can drag it but it goes slower than something with a couple hundred grand in it instead of millions, i mean yes the bugatti is a amazing engeneering feet, but everything about it is exagerated, maintenance, mpg, cost etc if you wanna beat everything get a alpha12 ams gtr better and cheaper than bugatti, but for me a beemer is perfect as its rmd, powerfull but not too much, expensive and technelogial but not too much, its just a car made for drivers to have fun, where the bugatti was made as a engenering feet . and they both do what they are made for perfectly

Have all my respect from germans because made a car like the e92 m3 witch (being amazing) is a fucking good investiment qualiti/price... with 30.000 euros you get an used (maxim 60.000 kms) 4.0 V8 with 420hp and witch your drive is 100 times better and funnier than a bugattis one.Maybe dont have the same force to glue you to the seat as the Bugattis one but trust me..On Nurburgring the funny witch you have with the m3 u will never have with a Bugatti.

I saw manu Honda s2000 with a half of hp fucling m3 in Nurb. bmw are for gipsy, audi for snoobs and mercedes... You need toons of class and gentlemaness for drive one. Bmw is totally over rated and overprized. The Veyron is boring. You can't drift with it, it is slow on a track abd it's ugly. The BMW is a nice drift and track car and it's cheap.

It's not hating, its the truth. At the Race Track every Nissan GT-R is faster (e.g. compare the Nürburgring Nordschleife Lap times of the GT-R and the Veyron)... and for one Veyron you get round about 15 - 20 GT-Rs. It is to heavy. You can't drift with this car, every turbo charged Nissan GT-R accelerates faster and in my opinion it's ugly. The 16.4 cylinder is nice, but inefficient. And for the price of one veyron you can get one ultra turbo charged Nissan GT-R with 1500 and more horsepower (The AMS GT-Rs reach over 2000hp!!!), a Radical as a Trackday car and another 1000hp Nissan Skyline for drifting...hm and a AMG for everyday... an lifetime fuel for all the cars...

Quentin Freeman sure, it's physics. The kw/kg gas ratio is in every engine the same, but the vr38DEET v6 ist lighter then the double vr8 engine in the veyron. (It isn't a real W16 engine, they only put two vr8 blocks together). And the GT-R block produces less heat. The veyron need 10 radiators to cool it down, the small v6 is easyer to cool. And the aerodynamic of the veyron is verry bad. In the normal mode (without speed key) it has the same cd value like a Subaru Forrester
ExtremeEnigma94x it's not created to be efficient, it has 1200 hp, and the aerodynamics are superb, a car can't be the that fast and have bad aerodynamics.
Cost to service the Bugatti is the price of the M3. Lol

1) the Veyron is the ugliest supercar ever made, it looks like a PIG.
2) it's not a proper supercar
3) it's too heavy 2 tons
4) it's top speed is irellevant. Ferrari ,Porsche, Mclaren - they can all built a car that goes faster in a straight line, they just don't care. What's the point of having a 250 mph supercar if u can't hit that speed on the road ???
5) it has a horrible looking interior. The steering whell looks like the wheel of an ancient charriot. Plus all that luxury adds weight. A true driver doesn't need luxury, if u want luxury u buy a Maybach or a Rolls, not a supercar.
6) The true test of a supercar is on a track. This 2 ton junk totally sucks. It's not even in top 5 fastest at the Top Gear track.
7) it has a piece a crap of an engine : it needs an 8 litre W16 with 4 turbos to generate 1000 HP.
Ferrari get 860 HP from a naturally aspirated engine. Imagine if they would use an 8l W16 with 4 turbos : they'd obtain 3000 HP

Luxury automobiles are basically prototypes paid for by the affluent to introduce new technology. Once development cost have been recovered, production can be affordable enough to implement into more common vehicles.

your right, at 51 seconds the Veyron/M3 starts to move. but the Veyron does not get on it until 3 seconds later. i think the driver saw the M3 laying down rubber and gave the dude a fighting chance, lol. the Veyron is 1-1.5 seconds faster to 60 than the M3, huge difference.

The Veyron still holds the record for world's fastest production car and it has more impressive specifications so there is no reason to say that it is the better car.

This was a no brainer, bugatti was going to win, he was toying with the bmw, you get what you pay for.
Anyone who expected anything different from this is crazy. The Veyron is made to do nothing besides go like hell, the BMW is a daily driver/track car. It would be like racing a Honda Civic against a GTR. Two completely different class of vehicle.

How? How many road cars have you seen with a 1200HP Quad-Turbocharged W16 with 883kW that goes 431KM/H? NONE. The Veyron deserves all the praise it gets, and then some.

You're right that's crank HP. But what they put down to the wheels is actually 15% less HP so the Bugatti is realisticly putting down 850-900awhp and the M3 is putting down close to 350-360rwhp.

2.M3 is RWD,Veyron is 4WD
3.M3 to 100kmh is 4.6 secs,Veyron to 100kmh is 2.6secs
4.M3 has a 4.0 V8,Veyron has a Quad-Turbo 8.0 W16
But the M3 is actually lighter than the Veyron
Get it straight. The Veyron has 1001 bhp, goes in 2.5 sec to 62 mph.
@firemarioflower Veyron 16.4 has 987 brake horsepower, that is the same as 1001 metric horsepower. BHP and PS are slightly different.
