      There wasn’t really a lot of alien civilization exploration. I didn’t really feel connected to this series probably because of that and there wasn’t really any main bad guy like the Gou’ald, Ori, Wraith, Replicators, the Lucian Alliance was in it a few episodes but nothing that really refined it for me.

    • @m.d4375

      Was my favorite out of the bunch by far. Unlike SGA and SG-1 Stargate Universe felt realistic and more mysterious, less comedic/lighthearted. Like exploring what could be a vast unknown universe with no pure evils or pure good guys as if it were a cartoon. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy SG-1 and Atlantis a lot in fact, but for vastly different reasons, they were more shows I could just relax whilst watching. Whilst SGU made me want to know more about the ancients and the galaxies and all the things in it.

      Some fish and lizards don't have eye lids but do have a similar sort of gelatinous film/protective layer that can slide back and forth across their eyes to clear them from sand or salt from the sea water.. Also there's quite a few breeds of dogs that as well as having eye lids also have a similar secondary eye lid type thing similar to that I just described with fish and lizards that aren't technically eye lids but serve a similar purpose of protecting the eyes from damage from certain things..
      I am not saying this to lesson your comment or point, that's still valid, I only say because I like to learn and share what knowledge I can when I remember it.. So it may be that it's not eye lids but some other type of thing to protect the eye organs..👍❤️👍

      Sadly, that’s almost where the show was at when it got cancelled. Animosity between characters was clearly by design for the first 2 seasons. I mean, it made sense from a narrative point of view. The show differs from SG1 and SGA in that the characters weren’t part of a team with a shared and defined purpose.
      By the end of season 2 they had settled on a shared purpose and goals and resigned themselves to pursuing them. It’s clear that if there had been a season 3 we would’ve seen a much different interpersonnel atmosphere more akin to SG1 and SGA, only in SGU it would’ve felt more earned and gratifying to see as the viewer had witnessed the work it took to get to that stage.

    • @LainK1978
      @LainK1978 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The show wouldn't have been good if that happened. It would have been boring and an even worse version of Star Trek Voyager. None of these people were meant to be in this situation. An entirely different crew was intended to be the ones who actually boarded Destiny. These people got sent their because Rush was a selfish prick. The show actually was a character driven long form series instead of an episodic plot driven show. The characters have to all be deeper and carry the show with a lot more than just the "bridge crew."
      SGU just aired like 4-6 years too soon. Had it came out later, it would have been at the peak of sci-fi shows. Deep characters, facing challenges learning to work with and trust each other, and learning the secrets of the ship and its mission. That is at least a 5 year arc, and even after that 5 years they still haven't completed or solved the mystery that initiated the Destiny's mission.

    SGU really didn’t have a big bad guy like SG1 and Atlantis, they and the Lucian Alliance were sort of the closest we got.

      @Chris G I never really got that far. I sort of just got bored of it, never really felt into it.

    The point of SG:U was pretty meh imo. SG:Atlantis made so much sense for the 8th chevron. The whole 9th chevron was bogus and the Destiny ship was crap as a concept. This is what doomed SG:U. Basically they copied Star Trek. SG1 = TOS, Atlantis = TNG, Universe = DS9 + Voyager combined but not done very well.

    The most interesting part of SGU, and we hardly saw anything of it! Too busy dwelling on boring soap opera story lines... what a waste.

    Man, this show tried way too hard to be Battel star galactica. I just wanted some good sg campiness.
