- The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.6!
In this tutorial, we take a look at the new Armadillo mob, along with Wolf variants and wolf armour.
Before Minecraft 1.21 - the Tricky Trials update - arrives later this week, I wanted to cover these changes which arrived in 1.20.5. Armadillos can be found in Savannas and Badlands biomes, where they will scare spiders, drop scutes, and curl up if they sense danger!
Armadillo scutes can be crafted into wolf armour, which protects tamed wolves from damage until it breaks. Speaking of wolves, there are now 9 wolf variants, which can be found in a whole variety of different biomes. We discover the Pale Wolf, Spotted Wolf, and Woods Wolf in this video, but we'll adopt the whole set for the advancement eventually!
Along the way, we discuss the near-infinite colour combinations of wolf armour, explore whether wolves are useful in combat, and explain how passive mob spawning works a little differently to hostile mob spawning.

Dog name suggestions - if you only plan to name the three, I'd go with Huey, Dewey and Louie. If you want to name all nine, go with Fellowship of the Ring, it was nine people as well!

One more little detail of differentiation between wild wolves and tamed dogs - there's an extra pixel of white above the pupil in a dog that's not present in the wolf. It's harder to see on the pale wolf since their fur is so close to it, but it makes the eyes look bigger and happier, and it's quite cute.

Given how well he keeps his cool in dangerous situations, I agree! I loved the episode where he took on woodland mansions - I've never seen anyone so calm while wandering around a mansion that's burning down around them AND being attacked by vindicators, and STILL making time to rescue as many allays as possible!

In 1.21 entities can go through portals. Which means you can ride your horse or mine cart through. You can put lead on boats, which means you can put villagers in boats and lead them through portals. You can even ender pearl to the other side. I'm looking forward to future episodes.

Oooh that’s really nice how wolf armor negates all damage, I wasn’t aware. Wolves are definitely more viable in combat now, or just general defense while you explore or even build.
Wow, I never thought I'd be so excited about armadillos and wolf armor in Minecraft! 🐺🦔 This tutorial not only covers the new mobs but also dives deep into passive mob spawning mechanics. The wite wolf can be named , silver or winter, the brown one can be Robin and the spotted one can be called Bingo because it kinda looks like a bingo

Don't ask why, but for some reason the pale wolf looks like a Gerald. Alternatively, if you are going to go out and get more, perhaps name them after the default Minecraft skins.

I find that bows are pretty quick to replace. It's helmets and swords that take the most work and XP for me.
I love the new wolfs. Transporting modes over water is a pain, until I discovered that if I don't mind running frost walker will let them follow me over oceans since it provides a solid surface to walk on. Just don't let it melt below you. :)

I can’t wait for the tricky trials update to be apart of the game and plan on making a new world with the Trial Chambers, since i am on console bedrock, I don’t think we have a way to update our game but keep the current world
Maybe in the meantime k could play in a snapshot world and see how that goes because sometimes I just wanna play Minecraft but not wanna go thousands of blocks to look for stuff, ya know?

I wonder if there is a tool to help you get a specific color for you wolf/leather armor, like you give the hex of the color you want and it gives a set of directions to get that color

Can you make a video about all the updates coming up in 1.21? It feels like it's an overwhelming update and I tried to find a good video consolidating everything but couldn't find it.
Hey pix I know this is irrelevant but are you still playing mc with optifine or have you since switched to a new mod? I began using the software after you introduced it back in the initial survival guide mainly bcs of the extra quality of life features it added but recently it has come under scrutiny for negatively impacting the game's performance and idk whether or not I should continue using it. That being said, great to see the survival guide is back and I very much look forward to seeing what new projects are in store for the world 👍👍

I wish there was a third option with pet behavior that allows them to walk around but not follow you. I would love to put my dogs in a fenced in area and let them walk around just to add more life to the base.

Personally, I HATE the sound of wolves/dogs getting hurt and dying, as it's so sad (and being a dog/cat lover, I can't stand my real pets being hurt)! I believe that dogs with armor don't make any hurt sounds, so that makes it so much better. I only use dogs for hunting animals and companionship, as I don't want to lose any in combat. However, I am glad that we finally got different types of dogs, just like we have different types of cats!
It would be interesting to see how well a pack of armored dogs does in the End with the dragon. Eh Pix?

isn't it the case that all passive mobs from the spawn chunks must also be cleared for new passive mobs to spawn anywhere in the world?
Hello there Pixlriffs I have a Question regarding the new 1.21 update will every Minecraft seed be different like they did for the caves and cliffs update if they put in the same seed once a player starts the new update?
Terrain isn’t changing in 1.21 - biomes and most other features will be in the same place. There are new underground structures called trial chambers, but those are the only major changes to world generation.
@@Pixlriffs Thanks for clearing that up for me The trial chambers seem fun and challenging and with the new blocks like copper bulbs and tuff variety there is going to be a lot of brilliant creativity.
