Great video! The WRC should take note of this as is shows you don't need to go 180 mph with gigantic wings to have a great rally. Luckily we have the ERC which appears to be a modern version of this rally. And the ERC cars like these cars actually look like something you could buy. Also the sound of these cars are just fantastic , note the wheelspin coming off the corners and you can see them trail braking into the corners! Stay safe out there!! From Indiana, USA.

There have been some changes over time, and not all of them I'm sure make sense. Not just in terms of the impact on the feeling for the sport. But when I see these video recordings here, I have high hopes again that people will become more aware of what good rally sport should look like. It is not only because of the cars which are used there. Although I am a great enthusiast of the old Escorts, the Lancia Stratos and especially of the Saab 96. The most important thing for me is the character of the tracks used for the special stages (much gravel with a great variety of curves, and often downhill), as well as the lengh of the rally. Today, no rally in the World Championship has more than 500 kilometers of special stages. The Roger Abert Clark Rally shows that such a dimension is also possible in the present. I am of the opinion that if rallying is to gain more fans and supporters, the well-known rally classics in particular have to be longer. And not shorter. And the regulations must be opened up to more different vehicles and more technical innovation. At the moment, many areas of professional motorsport have degenerated into a stage for self-promotion, where the actual events on the track are merely secondary. That's not really progress, I think.
@@andreaslugauer8280 The new 2025 rules allows rallies to be longer and remote services are making a comeback after 20+ years. This is really good news, no more long road sections or small area rallies with 6 stages that are driven twice!
Gosh, very nostalgic, great video, used to go to Clipstone Forest in Notts. to watch the Lombard Rally as it was then, and it was this sound. A Stratos in a forest at night is a crazy thing, but I love the Escorts best.

I hope I'm not being blasphamous but that Stratos, more than any other Stratos I've seen or heard, seems to rev a lot higher and sounds as if it's got a V6 Hiabusa under the "bonnett". 😂

Nice to see all of these old German Fords, German Opels, German Porsches, Italian Lancias Stratos (replica?) and Japanese Subaru flying by just as that one British Triumph TR8 with American Buick V8.

The short wheel-base looked like a real handful, until FIAT wanted the 131 to win. 😱

That's an Alpha Romeo V6. The Dino has quite a dull sound in comparison.

It has a V6 Lancia/Ferrari 24v engine, closely related to the V6 Dino engine and fully homologated for historic rallying 👍🏼
It was fitted with a 6 to 1 exhaust, instead of the original exhaust.
