I drove 335 miles and only used half a tank in a 2023 430i. I’m extremely impressed! Eco Pro is the way to go. My buddy drove his Tesla model 3 the same trip and had to stop to recharge along the way… 😂

I got a 535d two months ago. I commute 130 miles per day, so knocking off 10 miles per gallon each trip adds up. Also, when traffic slows down and there’s no benefit to 415 ft lbs of torque, it makes sense for me. I’ve even gotten used to the auto stop and hold features. Thanks for the video.

He failed to mention one big point, when in eco-pro you’re a transmission literally disconnects from the driveline and allows you to coast at IDLE, which saves wear and tear, gas and a lot of other things

Good Video and perspective - I use ECO Mode quite a lot as I am not an aggressive driver (80% of the time). Current add to tank is 53 miles and I have a quarter of a tank left. Depends on how you driver overall... I think it is a great feature especially the coast mode and battery charging capability...JD

@@WhatsyourForte I had a 428i and now have a 435i, and while ECO mode completely ruins the driving experience in both cars, in the 435i it doesn't add much to your MPG - on the 428i, however, it seemed to give you pretty good results. In any case, I don't drive enough miles for me to willingly destroy the fun of driving to save some stupid penguins.
Also, in similar driving, my 428i got around 32mpg without ECO -- while so far the 435i is getting around 18mpg without ECO, so it's a big difference.

Not sure if I remembered this correctly but I managed something between 9 to 10 litres per 100km (32 to 28.2 mpg) on my 640i Gran Coupe in Eco Pro. Drove for two hours on a mixture of urban roads and highways in Hong Kong (mostly highway), with mild traffic and at speeds from 25 to 75 miles an hour. Felt that the car was way happier with coasting. It was so quiet I genuinely believe that the engine had turned off. Not bad for a 2-ton car...

  • @tyler951
    @tyler951 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Nice video, I think you saved quite a bit more than just what Eco Pro displayed. You said you usually get between 17-20 and you averaged 23 on that tank? Thats 40 miles added if you usually get 20 mpg.
I wanted to see how high I could get my fuel economy so I used Eco Pro on my 17' X3 xdrive35i traveling to Oklahoma from San Antonio last weekend. I filled up (17.7 gallon tank size) before I left and made it to my destination 420 miles with 106 miles of range left. I did coast downhill and stayed under or at the speed limit (60-75 mph) but would go over if coasting made me. My indicated MPG on the car computer was 30.3 mpg for the trip, 29.6 mpg for the tank. I use to Fuelly to track fuel economy and it showed 28.8 mpg when I filled up again. My previous best was 26.7. The efficiency dynamics display showed I added 11.7 miles.
Things I noticed that Eco Pro does:
-Above 30 mph when you take your foot off the accelerator completely it decouples the engine and transmission and you coast at idle.
-Makes the throttle response way more muted, which makes it easier to modulate the throttle or hold it or increase in very fine increments. I found that I could easily beat cruise control when there is any type of elevation. You can see it by looking at the performance displays to see what HP/TQ you are using vs cruise control.
-Reduces the fan speed of the AC system
-I assume it will also shift you into a higher gear faster than comfort but haven't really paid much attention to it.
-Alerts you when you go over a certain speed that you set in the Eco Pro configuration menu. Mine is set at 75 mph

  • @ViewsofTheVI

I dont know how i do it but according to the trip meter i only loose about 10 miles from actual miles driven riding on comfort. Overall, its about the same results as what the video had. If you are looking for a 2nd car to drive hard then go for the 2 series. If you need more room, and and have to live with it daily, I say go with the 4 series.

    - sports car with large tires and 3 liter engine: lot of friction
Go try this in milder climate with a 2 liter engine, "normal" tires and the difference is more important
