- Saying Sachin Tendulkar is making the right decision to quit Test cricket after his 200th game in Mumbai this week, former captain Sourav Ganguly told NDTV: "If I was Sachin, I would have quit a year ago."

Only guy (Sourav Ganguly) who has the guts, capacity and the ability to communicate a truth which is rarely heard in India. No wonder he built the Indian team from ruins and won against the all conquering Steve Waugh's Aussies by taking Harbhajan Singh whose career he revived by taking him in the team against the wishes of the selectors!
Sachin played like a master till the end of his career n had great dedication for the sport

yes , sachin form is inconsistant after 2011 wc but dhoni and bcci gave long rope and sachin deserve that but i remember ind vs england series his form is not so good as well as not so bad but once day dhoni and chief selector sandeep patil decide to drop sachin in nagpur odi but they asked sachin before final decision " whats about u r future in cricket " thats it .....then sachin retired from odi . test retirment is hos own call
Sourav is correct. And the same dhoni did with himself. To be honest, he should have retired in 2018, or should have been dropped from the team In 2018, because he has destroyed his legacy to an extent
He won the man of the series in aus, he had to play the World Cup tbh after 2017 he had just 1 bad year with runs that was 2018 and pant was in transition period had not played too many ODIs and Dinesh Karthik was much better a t20 batsman so dhoni did the right thing by calling of in 2020 end though he had planned to play 2020 t20 World Cup

I dont think there is anything wrong in what he said ...just couple of months ago , the very same people who are now praising Sachin to no extent were criticizing him. Every person's status was - Enough of seeing Sachin. So absolutely true. Nothing wrong. Same thing what people are saying about Federer now.

True.....even Fed had his struggles....no slam for 4 1/2 years....But now 3 of the last 5 slams, 3 masters titles...was back to no 1. The media tends to criticize you when you are down and actually need support. Sachin needed support at the later part of his career but the media propaganda did not help....repeatedly talking about his retirement, disregarding the fact that every player has ups and downs.....it only put more pressure on him. Media ignored the fact that an out of form Sachin was better than most players.
People should remember, Sachin Tendulkar ended his career when he was in form player. He scored 70+ runs in his last innings and this was the time when he didn't announce his retirement.
One more thing to realise, when anchor said Sachin scored 70 in ranji trophy so even with his all achievements he still played in ranji. Imagine today's players playing in ranji.

i am a huge sachin fan but for money purposes people dragged his career by a year and a half.

So thats why he's the only sportsperson let alone only cricketer to recieve a bharat ratna. Virat Kohli has only started and is not even quarter of sachin's achivements. Gavaskar was a defensive player so anybody can make runs in that style. Kapil dev was good but there were many allrounders better than kapil dev in international cricket with Richard Hadlee,Ian Botham and Imran Khan to name a few. But there were none who came close to Sachin's achievements and his cricketing style and also against the bowlers he faced. He even played against a much better bowling sides than gavaskar who only played against west indian bowling greats and somewhat australian dennis lille. whereas Sachin played against australian side that had mcgrath,warne and brett lee and other dangerous bowlers and fielders, then against South africa who had allan donald,shaun pollock,dale steyn,morne morkel and other deadly bowlers and fielders like jonty rodes, then against pakistan who had Wasim akram,imran khan, waqar younis,akhib javed,saqlain mushtak,shoaib akhtar and many other deadly bowlers,then against west indies who had malcom marshall,curtley ambrose,courtney walsh and many more lethal bowlers, against sri lanka who had muttiah muralitharan, chaminda vaas,lasith malinga, then England who had andrew flintoff,james anderson,andy caddick,james swan,ashley giles and others, then against zimbabwe who had heath streak, henry olonga,then against new zealand who had shane bond,chris cairns,daniel vettori and others. So its almost countless numbers of great bowlers he faced and achived great success against them. If sachin faced the bowlers kohli is facing then Sachin would have made 200 international tons. Thatswhy he is a god and others are mere humans.
sachin is the man who brought sponsorship to BCCI, sachin is one of the reasons for the popularity of cricket in India. he is not only the great cricketer, he is the reason why BCCI is the richest cricketing board in the whole world.
and 90s when televison came in India it was only sachin for whome most of the people use to see cricket, and there was famous saying in 90s that-- 10 do and 10 don't. because in 90s it was considered that if yow want to win agains t india than you just take sachin's wicket
