Hi Johnny, just to let you know I done my tobacco pressing following your method and it's turned out amazing! I'm gonna let it sit and age for a while now before smoking, thanks again for the video, hope all is well with yourself and family 🙏🏻
Wow Johnny thankyou so much for this video, ive always wanted to press my tobacco's! Im thinking of adding some nice rum first so it all melds together, great video thankyou buddy x
I tries to press tobacco one time. I put tobacco in big gauge pipe (2" or 3", I don't remember), make wooden plug and "piston", insert tobacco, wrapped in cloth between it, place on log, and beat with sledge hammer. I think it is simpliest press human can do. Appreciate your design, it much more neat and compact.
Ordered a pasta press to try this out. Thinking of making some Northwoods and Old Joe krantz cakes. They'll be left out in this Arizona sun for probably a week. Thanks man,!
Very cool. Search press mold on amazon for lots of similar items and shapes too but yours has some benefits others don’t. I want one! May order one today
Newton Piper the real fun is when you start mixing tobaccos and then pressing them, it melds the flavors quickly so you don’t have to age them as long to get the tobaccos to meld together... man it’s a blast!
Paladin Piper just saw this Pat, yes I find the pressing brings out the flavors and keeps the tobacco moister as it expresses the oils from the leaves into the pressed tobacco. This particular pressing I was doing storage purposes, it compacts the tobacco making it easier to store and helps keep the moisture in the tobacco. Normally when I am pressing different tobaccos together I’ll press from 7 days to a month.... the longer I press the harder the puck becomes after a month it stays like a plug of tobacco where as after 7 days it comes out like a plug but after the air gets to it it becomes a cake of tobacco.
How did you cut that canning jar lid? I bought 2 of these presses and they just arrived, and I want to get to pressing my own blends. Did you use metal snips, or some kind of power tool?
Well, I got two from Amazon and they are a lot smaller and weaker and crappier than the one you have :( I started to get it decently tight and the bottom cap with the holes started to bulge, and the beginning of the thread popped. Junk. Could you post a link to the one you have?
Well in this one I was compressing it for storage purposes! Turning into cakes for storage. Helps to keep it moist longer and you can put more in a jar!
I can fit about 6 to 8 oz in the press but you have to press it in with your hands as you go to fit it... I use a sodden dowel to help press it down, once I can’t fit anymore in by hand I put the top on and start the press and it will press down about half way it does a great job!

There are many great ways to press tobacco! Lots of videos of home made presses that are quite ingenious! Yours sounds great!

That was awesome Jonny!

It’s a great item and works fantastic! Perfect size for the small ball jars!
just bought one and can't wait to try this out.
Let me know how it goes!
Ordered a press! I’m more into Virginia/english blends but have you tried with aromatics?
I've just tried with a mix or left over aeros. Fkn juice everywhere lol
So cool 👍 I will be Defo given this a try in the near future. Thank you so much for sharing this 😊
Newton Piper noodle press on Amazon $18 works fantastic!

2:00 am Pipe On The Patio i bet! I would have to try my top two and see 😁 👍
Hey Johnny 👋 are you still pressing with this?
Do you notice any difference between the pressed vs loose?
Thank you, take care. JB
I’ve noticed the pressed stay moist much longer! Especially if I leave it wrapped in the parchment paper and put it in mason jars
Thats such a clever idea. Do you find the flavors are more pronounced with this method?
Paladin Piper just saw this Pat, yes I find the pressing brings out the flavors and keeps the tobacco moister as it expresses the oils from the leaves into the pressed tobacco. I just used a pair of old scissors.
Have fun with it! Make sure to use some parchment paper inside or the tobacco will stick to the tube inside
@@2ampipeonthepatio thanks!

What are you trying to achieve by doing this?

hi what kind of press is it? is a cookie good?
I use a noodle press all stainless steel.... a cookie press would probably work if it is metal and can handle the force
How many ounces can fit
