The MANTUA trolleys are excellent runners.

I have all those of those models and then some but they run exactly like yours do. The little Tyco unit is actually fairly quiet compared to some of other older models. I also have a few newer Bowser and Spectrum units in TTC colours which run quite nicely off the live wire.

Thanks for watching. I had a look at your Downtown Toronto rail video. Good stuff! Love the Trolleys and streetcars, but I have not purchased anything newer. Hopefully the technology has improved! Thanks again.

I have an aged AHM 2 car set which is just an earlier version of the model power. My AHM runs quietly.

That tyco trolley....i have an even earlier verson w/two poles on the roof, made by mantua.. Runs silent and quick. The model power (yellow one)....i have a few of the versions by Mehano (the blue United Traction types). Those in particular have the better quality motors, that are silent runners. The great thing is all of these various models are still VERY available and really affordable.

Thanks for watching, and for the comment. I like all the old ‘vintage’ trolleys too. They are a good value when they’re running well. Thanks again.

The Bachmann Brill trolley pole is typically in the up position. However it's more realistic with one of them in the down position. Bachmann used that ubiquitous noisy pancake motor. The model power one was previously sold under other brand names in a variety of paint schemes. I have a two-car set from AHM. Thealso sold them under the later IHC brand. They can actually operate from overhead wire which is why there is an actual spring on the pole. Assuming model power used the same motor these motors can actually run quietly.

Thanks for the comment. I did not know the Model Power trolley could operate from an overhead wire. But I always thought the spring mechanism was neat. My model power unit runs pretty smoothly, and fairly quiet too. Overall, pretty good given the age!

@@stevenkohm1093 I wouldn't have known that either is mine didn't come with the original instructions. As a reward during boxing I did see briefly the section remodel power instructions that tells you how to run the trolley off the pole monsters require severing wire one of the wheels. I'm just happy running it out of the box with Track Power well it's nice to know it's capable of running off the trolley Pole.

Leisure World, I believe, is where your Tyco came from (next to Oriental Elegance, if I remember correctly), and I used to get my model rocket stuff there.

Yes! That’s it! They went out of business and sold off a bunch of Tyco model train stuff. I bought quite a bit of it. I also used to build model rockets. Great fun!

@@stevenkohm1093 You know, that second one, the 6862 Downtown, doesn't look entirely *unlike* a Winnipeg trolley, from what I remember of the photos.

@TenPrintHello Yes, I agree. Some of Winnipeg’s old wooden trolleys that were scrapped in the 1950s have that general look. I was thinking it might be more of a European style because the Model Power stuff from that era was made in Yugoslavia.
