- On October 13, 1992 Larry Himmel paid a visit to Eden Gardens. It's one of San Diego's oldest neighborhoods and it's surrounded by Solana Beach and Del Mar. Rapper Lil Rob (Roberto L. Tony's Jacal Mexican restaurant and Fidel's Little Mexico have been in business for decades and still serving up delicious Mexican food.

Lil Rob’s neighborhood has a lot of history. La Colonia Eden Gardens goes way back. It’s gentrified now like many other Barrio’s but you can still see it is sort of a separate area from the rest of Solana Beach. Food is good right there too. Those restaurants are still around.

People think of regentrification like some mythical boogey man. I have been living in North County SD for 5 years now and please believe it, this is multi million dollar property now, no lowriders or Chicano's more like Audi's and Dixie chicks....California is going through a second gold rush, if you own any land by the coast........you are very wealthy.
I drove around there yesterday and i did not expect that neighborhood to be that upscale. Definitely some expensive properties and wealthy ppl that live in that area now.

Grew up in Eden Gardens on Ida Ave. Still a small pocket of soul in Solana Beach despite gentrification.
I had no idea raza lived in solana beach. My boss who passed away months ago would always tell me that he would go to Tonys bar after work. Since he was a white guy I thought tonys was some white-washed restaurant. Never thought it would be a historic restaurant in a neighborhood full of chicanos. I have to go there now
@@GO-kg2dw Tony’s Jacal is a historic restaurant that has mostly white patrons. White people in Solana Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe have always gone there. With that being said it’s still cool to go there because it’s a piece of history that’s still owned by the same family. Eden Gardens has become very gentrified, but like I said it still has a little soul. It might be completely gone in 20 years.
