- Moonlight is a game streaming tool designed to allow you to stream your screen (and games) from a PC to a connected device. This means you can stream games that wouldn't normally run on your device, such as GameCube, PS2, PC games, and so on. In this video I'll show you how to set it up on ArkOS and RetroOZ devices (full compatibility list below).

I tried Braid when it launched, got stuck, gave up. Then some years ago tried I again, this time I didn't get stuck (for long lol), the game is fantastic!
But sometimes is frustrating. Tip: if you get stuck, for a while, a few days without trying.

I don't know if it works for your device, but if you need to use the mouse "cursor" hold "start" button for 3 sec, then you can move the mouse with the analog, and then to deactivate hold "start" again. Great Video as always.

With RetroOZ you can create direct links to Games and Emulators outside of Steam. Add the Game or Emulator to Nvidia / Sunshine then select "Server-LIst Applications" and check for your newly added application (For example Emulation front end Big Box with Controller Support to remove that need to go back to your PC in Dolphin). Then select "Server-Generate Application File" and a new link will be added to Moonlight Menu for example Moonlight-Big Box. These links can be removed from the menu in the same manner as deleting ROMs from your SDCards. As always Russ great video!

Adding LaunchBox's "Big Box" to Steam would create a truly seamless remote emulation experience.
You can hold start to enter mouse mode an navigate that way. Hold start to exit mouse mode
Thanks for showing this. I was curious how Moonlight was supported on a Linux handheld OS (as opposed to Android). Is there any support for other streaming services (i.e. GeForce Now and/or XBox Game Pass)? Do you know if this would be similar for Parsec? I found Parsec to be better than Moonlight for PC to PC streaming so curious if it has similar benefits on smaller devices.

Great video. I’ve been looking for something like this since I got my RG351V. I followed the guide and got it all working except there is no image being streamed to the 351V. Steam boots and I can use the controls on the unit to navigate Steam but can’t see anything. I believe the issue is that the host PC is a GPD Win Max. I was hoping that the Sunshine app might allow this setup to work. Have I done something wrong in my setup or is the Win Max and it’s Iris GPU the issue. Any help appreciated. Thanks
Will this also work on the AYN Odin? I saw moonlight working on many of your Odin videos, but my PC has an AMD graphics card and not Nivida so I was wondering if it's possible to still get moonline working on the Odin.
Thank you! I got it to work on my RG351v but I had to disable HDR cuz the app didn't remain open when I did. It's weird cuz now I can't stream unless I reboot my computer, it's a little iffy.
I've been having pretty poor experiences with my odroid go super for streaming. I'm using retro oz. Back when I was using a 2.4GHz connector it sorta worked but would loose 5 seconds or so of video every once in a while. So I bought the 5.0 GHz connector you recommended and it connects only to completely freeze a few seconds later and never unfreeze unless I go back to main menu and back in. Any suggestions?

Yes, this is one of the most exciting prospects of getting ArkOS running on the RG351MP -- 4:3 gameplay for DC, N64, GameCube, and PS2 will be great. BoTW will definitely play via Cemu or Yuzu, but will be squished on the 4:3 display.

Would love to see an update to this video specifically for RetroOz on the RGB10 Max 2, I can't get it working right, either the app shows nothing on the Max 2 or the steam screen does show up but I can't use my controls at all, so I'm stuck.

This almost seems too good to be true. Does it have to be connected to the same local wifi, or can I connect from two different places?
You could probably set up the streaming to allow and perform remote connections from outside your local network, since it connects to straight up IPs. But it would be a terrible experience since button input and screen response would be dependent on the distance between you and your PC, multiplied by the current wifi strength and internet connection poorness. You'd go from sub-1ms latency to tens or even hundreds of milliseconds in delay. Not to mention the stuttering.
Long story short: Yes you can probably do the "from two different places" thing. But it would suck.
hey i have a RGBMAX2 running Retro OZ and i followed the steps but when i click to open moonlight steam the screen goes black for a second and than goes back into the moonlight menu could you help with this ?
Do you think it is possible with a Retroid Pocket 2 (that has already wifi) ?
The Retroid Pocket 2 has Android, so you could just install the Moonlight, SteamLink, etc apps and stream that way.

I tried to connect with Moonlight on my X55 (JELOS) to my PC (Sunshine, AMD GPU) but I could not get it to work. Even when entering the correct IP it could not connect to the PC. Could you maybe make a Moonlight/Sunshine tutorial? Maybe with how to connect a LINUX/Android device to a PC with sunshine?
I just got my rgb10 max the other day and I've set up retro oz and already have a game library. This might seem like a dumb question... But how do I connect to wifi? My switch is on, but I don't know how to connect to networks
Go into the OPTIONS section, there is a WiFi option there which will allow you to pick your SSID and enter a password. Have fun!

Can you stream games like willow of the wisp, and other current updated games on this device I know some may have squished UI's but is it possible to stream triple A games on the Rg351MP
when connecting my anbernic rg353ps im able to boot steam and dolphin through moonlight- and the inputs work in steam. but when dolphin is open, there are no inputs when using the device. any suggestions?

I been streaming from my phone and rpi with moonlight for years but recently tried streaming with rg351p using a wifi dongle and moonlight embedded through PortMaster following your tutorial, however once I pair to my pc and attempt to stream I get a black screen on the rg351p with a blinking cursor and after about a minute I get kicked back to the ports menu, any idea on what could be happening? This is with an Nvidia gpu btw.. Rtx 4090 geforce experience

Any reason you dont use amd link i been using it for gaming on phone with razer kishi v2 and laptop. Getting a ayn odin and will also use amd link. Its very good in comparison to steam link.

I watched your video on custom firmware for 351 devices. I noticed you are using ArkOs in this video. I can't decide between 351elec and ArkOs. Now that some time has past, would you say you prefer one over the other?
I prefer ArkOS for the RG351V but I still go back and forth between 351ELEC and ArkOS on the RG351P/M. I mostly use ArkOS for those devices too, but I appreciate the pre-configured screen settings of 351ELEC.
I got this up and runninh but the latency on steam games is insane as well as the sound crackling. Im assuming its a wifi thing but its nowhere close to even as good as what you show in the video. It starts out fine and then degrades to seconds between inputs showing up. Using an rg351m internal wifi. I'd love to get this working because it would be cool to play cross code or pixel remaster on this device.
Next year in January can you please test out KOF 15 for me on the RGB 10 max device and tell me how it runs It will be purchasable on steam
I'm running ArkOS on RG351P - followed your guide and I can boot moonlight to connect to steam but the controller input doesn't register at all. Anyone else found this problem? Am I missing a step somewhere?

For some reason on my RGB10 max I just get immediately booted back to the moonlight list whenever I try to launch something. It's paired with my PC, generates lists of the games available but won't correctly generate the files to launch, and none of them work when they do get put in the list.

Hey man love your videos and content. I've got a RGB10Max2, and I'm trying to stream Steam to it. I have an AMD GPU as well. I've succesfully installed Sunshine on my PC, connected my RGB10Max2 running RetroOz to Sunshine, but when I click on Moonlight-Steam the screen goes black and it just goes back to menu. It doesn't load or open Steam on my PC. Any ideas what it could be? I renamed the Steam App to just Steam in Sunshine web ui. I'm at a loss because I've done everything you did in the video.

How do you stream with the 351MP??????
I tried it on my RGB 10 MAX 2 and it doesn't work well. I've booted both Lineage and RetroOz, both have problems with inverted analog sticks, unlike I've seen in other video of the 10 MAX which is strange. Lineage streaming was good, RetroOz had major flickering.
I'm having trouble with my RGB10 Max 2 with RetroOZ. I've got steam to launch, but all the directions on the joysticks are completely messed up. The left stick is inverted on both the X and Y axis, and the right stick has all of the directions rotated 90 degrees. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Yes, run the latest 0.52 update for RetroOZ and then make sure you select the Max 2 in the control settings (I think it's in the Options or Tools section). forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?p=339901#p339901

how is your wifi working on the max?
Trying to get this to work on the RG503, opened the app, type the ip address found through typing ipconfig in cmd and I keep getting a pairing error even though they are on the same network. I have an nvidia gtx 3070!
This looks amazing. So this would be like a steam deck + ability to emulate everything? (depending on how powerful your pc is?). I know I know, steam deck uses proton and Yada Yada, but you know what I mean. I'm gonna check prices right away cause I could literally run everything on this thing if that's the case. Running Persona 5 on a handheld sounds like a dream (PS3 version with AA and higher resolution)
Can someone confirm? I'm checking prices and it costs 130 bucks, which seems really low seeing how good it is for game streaming.
It does work well, but can be temperamental (like you saw with the freezes). But overall it's a nice experience once you have Moonlight up and running. Definitely something like the Odin Lite would be much better for streaming since it has WiFi6 (way more stable).

Whats the pov on your pc when you’re moonlight streaming? Showing the same display as your anbernic device? You cant use your pc while moonlight streaming?
Correct, it will just mirror what is happening on your PC screen. But there is a neat app called Castor/Pollux that will allow you to stream from your PC while not disrupting its use. Here is a video on it: th-cam.com/video/2kewJ7dyrgk/w-d-xo.html

Unfortunately the Steam Link RPi client won't work on other devices -- it does a hardware check and won't work on anything but an RPi.

After I put my IP address in "Pair PC" it will run the prompt, but not produce a PIN. Am I doing something wrong? This is on 351elec
Controls not working - Random crashes. I am running 5700XT on a 3900XT AMD system. Everything is connected but when I open Steam I cannot use controls or move a mouse cursor. After a while it just crashes. If I move the mouse on my PC and click a game it crashes moonlight and sunshine says "Client disconnected".

Hey Russ! I can't seem to pair my PC on Moonlight on RG351p. When I select Pair PC, the controls just stop working and I can't type the IP address... Do you know a way around this?

@@bluecrab1685 There is an IP file in the Moonlight directory. I tried editing that, but it didn't work. Tried using an USB keyboard too, didn't work either. I think it must be an issue related to the whole USB controls interface on the 351p.

Having the same issue on the RG351M
For anyone who couldn't get the keyboard working with Moonlight on the RG351P/M, it's now been fixed. Just go into PortMaster and re-download Moonlight again, and it should now work. I just tested it and it works like a charm.
I tried to load Moonlight manually on RG351M (ArkOS final). It literally stuck on the selection screen. Nothing works.
Is there any way to stream the console onto a smart TV or something? I think it would be cool but I wonder if it is possible
You can stream directly to an Apple TV or Android TV box from Moonlight, don't know about Smart TVs

How is the lag? I was trying steam app on my Android tablet and playing project 64 and crusin usa had too much lag to steer.
It'll really depend on your WiFi setup, but the lag (or lack thereof) is really excellent on this latest Moonlight build. That's why I tested with F-Zero GX, since that one is so sensitive to input delay. It passed my test :)
i dont have a dedicated graphics card on my laptop. is there a way to get around that?

You can use the Sunshine method for your laptop and it should work fine. Sunshine doesn't really care about what kind of graphics processor you are using.

I have noticed that they always release great things for ArkOs but the truth is that I have never been able to like that OS and they never release something so that it is compatible for 351elec, I am very disappointed with that

Yes, you will need a WiFi dongle but otherwise it will work!

On 351v, when inside moonlight on "pair PC" the virtual keyboard shows up but none of the buttons work...
Works with a previous version of Moonlight.zip. Latest is broken.

I got everything paired up and everytime when I launch steam in moonlight, I can only see 1 second of the loading screen (the water/cloud animation) and it crashes back to the Ports menu, but steam still running fine on my PC and moonlight works from my phone.

I'm on an RG351M and once I get to the point of pairing my PC within moonlight, I can't type using the keypad for my IP. No buttons do anything :/

Yeah, I've tested it now and I have the same problem. I was hoping a USB keyboard would do the trick but that doesn't work either.
Hi, we've got it working now, just go into PortMaster and re-download the Moonlight port, and it should now work fine.

I would love to do ALL this setups but for some reason my laptop doesn't want to cooperate (a 2020 dell AMD model) P.O.S. I've tried in different laptops and nothing...I ve downloaded.....7zip, winzip well pretty much all zips and etchers and nothing still. I've bought android boxes but the same result. I'm not computer savvy so I couldn't find another solution .
I have an ArkOS rgb10 max 2, and all the ports titles are in Chinese, I have opened every port, and they all crash, I don’t know what to do.

can you usr moonligth for switch, can you make tutorial about moonlight how. does it works?
Yes. You need a modded Switch that runs custom firmware for that, but there is a Moonlight homebrew app.

Yeah you need a modded switch and it has to be G1 or made after a certain date. It's awesome. Using Android, Linux and playing pirated games rules.
