the switch is falling behind compared to other consoles but instead of giving us a more powerful console to actually run these games we get crappy cloud versions
Don't worry playstation portal is coming 😂😂😂😂
Nintendo would rather re-release a Wii U game and make extra DLC for it.... so greedy
@@SwitchSucksAss its not even portable LOL ret@rd
At this point the only reason people are buying it is because of its massive amount of exclusive and well known games. Also the fact that it is a portable console doesn’t matter since it isn’t the best one anymore and it is outdated.
When playstation portal and steam deck exists
The only games I want to play on switch are botw, mario kart , and some rpgs. The other games don't interest me it's like games for kids.
Thank you for helping me decide whether to buy a switch or not.
I honestly kind of regret getting the Nintendo Switch. Poorly built for the asking price, outdated graphics, and very few good games. Nintendo needs to put out more powerful hardware, and more quality titles.
It was rubbish after 1 year. Looked outdated. Nintendo have been riding there fan boys since the Wii days.
Nintendo almost made me quit gaming. They have god awful games. Thank fk for PS and Xbox
Worst home console Nintendo ever made and that says a lot. It's out for 6 years now and still only a handful of good games. I regret buying it.
Same I don't understand what the big deal with nintendo to be fair brotw is incredible but one fucking game doesn't deserve a brend new game console im moving to playstation
This game is a WII U exclusive that got ported, and jeez, the port itself was a nightmare if I can recall.
The switch was barely capable of running BOTW
5/6 years later with more knowledge and experience, Tears of Kingdom, may, and I mean it, may be a very good game.
At least equal to BOTW.
But don't be to excited on that one
I’m moving to Nintendo because i want the fun back in my gaming again not complicated menus and gameplay along with being nickel and dime for micro transactions plus for the most part Nintendo’s games aren’t buggy messes at launch cough cough cough cough cyberpunk 2077.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 honestly just pirat games or don't play anything
@@fredythesamur7186 I’d rather continue to buy my games and support the company, this is the problem I have with PC gamers who think they’re superior to console gamers.
3:44 No hate but the use of the word outdated here bothers me. It’s saying that Super Mario Odyssey is an obsolete game possibly because a different new Mario game outshines it in every possible way to the point that there’s no reason to play Odyssey. But in reality, Odyssey still holds up fantastically. I think a better way of putting it is that future players should be paying less for it because the game is old
my gripe is how indie titles are priced higher than their PC or PS/XBOX versions. The Nintendo Tax is real and it's 100% corporate greed.
I got the Switch when it was fresh and on sale for a bit. It was the last one in stock on Amazon so I kinda rushed it. I've gotta say though, I should've waited a few years.
Besides from just the 300 CAD switch, I've spent at least $500 more.
400 dollars total for the amount of just 6 games,
50 dollars for a two-year subscription (don't even talk about the "free 2 weeks if you purchase it today"),
and 25 dollars for extra gear and Joycon drift fix kit.
The time I realized when I actually had drift was when my Squid decided to walk off the map and therefore lost our team the game.
When I realized an OLED was coming out, heck even the Animal Crossing skin, I realized I REALLY should've saved up. Honestly using that hard-earned 1K on a Switch is not worth it. I'd understand if it was like 500~600 bucks, but 1 thousand? Naw mate, just another corporate scam.
Next time a new "innovative machine" or even just a console comes out, I'll just wait it out for a few years.
Nintendo switch is garbage lmaooooooooooooo 😂
@ZatiCoh i agree with this, my Switch's hardware is now completely Destroyed. If i try to turn it on it says that it has a MASSIVE error and some stores said it is Not Fixable. I think i have to buy a New one 😔
just dont buy the switch, yeah their games are good and all, but even after spending 300 euros on a switch and then spending another 60 just to play some good games, and they don't even have that many good games. The hardware is complete shit and lags when there is an explosion in a pixel game (1 year old). i have a switch and I'm selling it for 180 euros to get a refurbished PS4, I'm 100% sure il have a way better experience
games boring af and not even all that great tbh
@Random wait for the ps5 pro
@@AI-AITUM lol I changed my mind, I'm buying the series x
For me it's not the dated hardware but the fact that I can count on 1 hand the games one would want a switch for where the previous instalments on older consoles/handhelds aren't far superior all while staying full price for forever.
Their quality control went to the shitter and that Nintendo Seal of Quality doesn't mean anything anymore..... you'll pay for it though.
there are tonnes of different technical problems that people get. some people's console never turns back on, some the joycons won't connect when hooked up. for mine the touch screen in handheld mode just shits itself and it thinks someone is tapping on the screen. I can only play in dock mode now lmao. great console.....
This is why I refuse too buy Nintendo. They are incredibly anti consumer.
Get a steam deck and playstation portal hahaha
i wanted a switch but before i got i watched this vid and decided to just save up for a next gen console instead of buying a cheap tablet that cant even run one of my favourite games.
So The Wii and Wii U had DLC/downloadable games which was cool but the switch utilizes psychology in the form of these platinum/gold coins which EXPIRE so to pressure you into buying more. I started off with about 160 platinum coins but could not redeem them for some trivial wallpapers/icons for 10 each because it required a PAID subscription. Not even the 7 day free trial was good enough.
Oh how Nintendo has fallen.
me when controller drift:
i actually got drift on my xbox controller and it makes games like fall guys, gang beasts, and doom eternal UNPLAYABLE
A cheap 10 dollar kit from Amazon seemed to fix it for me. It's most likely something wrong going on at the factory, because that Nintendo official joystick worked for like 6 months and then went bust, I've been using the cheap one for more than 4 years now and it's still in pristine condition.
Obviously it's just Nintendo being sloppy. Additionally the joystick just doesn't feel as satisfying as the ones from other game consoles. I just don't know why though.
@@RoyalCanadianACC i know why. if you notice, the joysticks on the xbox and playstation and xbox are concave, but the switch’s pop out
Nintendo switch is garbage lmaooooooooooooo 😂
@@SwitchSucksAss I'm a subscriber 🤣 to spread the good word because I really do feel the same sentiments
Im hust waiting on a way to mod the current. Im not spending any money on full priced nintendo games that never go on sale, and a still bare bones eShop and virtual console
The switch is quite underpowered and has overpriced games. But this is a console for Nintendo fans. Don’t buy this expecting to run RE7 or Fortnite with anything near the level of a PS4 or Xbox One. Buy it if you want to play mariokart, smash bros, Zelda, warioware, super Mario odyssey, Pokémon, Mario party, luigis mansion, Kirby, etc. The only other thing the switch has going for it is the CFW potential if yours can be jailbroken
I completely agree with this! I still find it frustrating that Nintendo chooses to sell games on their store that are unable to run reliably due to the hardware limitations.
The Switch isn’t the most powerful console in the world but Nintendo undercooked the processor so the Switch isn’t running at full capacity but seriously the Switch shines with games that are made with its hardware in mind.
Not gonna lie, I’ve been having buyers remorse over my switch that I ended up selling it. I still have a switch lite for Tears of the Kingdom but I don’t really enjoy Nintendo’s IPs truth be told.
Apparently a switch 2 could be announced in 2024. Rumours has it that it'll run at 1080p in handheld mode and up to 4k docked. If that's the case then we'll see more solid titles.
@@laurenedney7 honestly it has less to do with the performance and more so that I don’t enjoy for Nintendo IPs. So it doesn’t matter how strong the next switch is, I’ll prefer playing on Steam, XBox or PlayStation anyways.
Me too, you're not alone! Ps5 pro to the rescue tho...
Fuck that "future console soon!!!" mentality. Get the console right now and forget about whats gonna come in the future. This braindead trap is what alot of phone buyers fall into "Guys the iPhone 15 is gonna come out in 2 months, should I wait a year for the big iPhone 16 though?"
Playstation portal is coming hahaha
Yuzu would continue to improve making this underpowered tablet even more useless than it is.
The Steam deck, Rog ally and gaming phones are just more enticing in my eyes.
I'm sticking with emulators nowadays, handhelds consoles etc. I love to mod my Vita one day.
I wish they had good games. I dont like 90% of the games they have personally. Id play if they had more gba/ds games
Almost considered getting a Switch Lite for SMT5 but decided against it
Most third party publishers seem to agree about the Switch hardware because they keep porting their games to other systems, like Monster Hunter Rise and Octopath Traveler is no longer a Nintendo exclusive
Playstation portal is better than Nintendo switch 😂
@@PSPortalShitpostingAntiSwitch hilarious troll account
yup same for me.... might be that it's on my brothers room
I’m kinda trying to decide if I should upgrade my 2019 switch and am unsure if it’s worth it. I’m a bit funny in some aspects. For instance, I played my switch, for around 1-3 hours per day, for 6 months and really enjoyed it. 90% handheld. Main thing tempting me about Oled switch, is larger screen. But I stopped playing my switch, summer 2020 when I bought doom eternal on ps4. Then I literally, never went back to switch. Especially as end of 2020 I bought sim racing setup but I recently started playing my switch, again. I think the bigger screen would be better but don’t think it will make me go WOW! If Nintendo games went down in price, I’d probably just get the Oled but as a PlayStation user for many years, I just feel that Nintendo are ripping us off. Ps4/5 and xbox games go down in price, really quickly. For instance, right now you can buy games like god of war, Spider-Man, red dead redemption 2 and many others BRAND NEW for under £20. I recently bought cyberpunk on ps4 with free PS5 upgrade new for £16. Breath of the wild is still over £50 or $60 on Amazon and it’s port of an old game. If that game was on ps4/5 it would cost less then £20. I think I’ll probably just stick with my 2019 switch and wait to see if Nintendo release another handheld. I think they will either make hybrid or make a portable and a console but I think Nintendo will go with hybrid. The portability of the switch, is probably the main selling point. Especially for people that have never had a handheld, decide.
I think it's a good choice to hold onto your 2019 switch, since the upgrade is most likely not worth it! Also yeah, Nintendo pricing is garbo
switch=ditch
I regret getting Consoles in the first place. First the 2DS XL and games for around 400 total, then switch and games years later for 500 total, only to hear i could have gotten my pc for 1400 (combining my laptop's and consoles' prices) Only to emulate everything on that AND still have more nintendo games than official nintendo systems.
i never use my switch .
Nintendo switch is garbage lmaooooooooooooo 😂
Playstation regularily drops the prices for their games and literally nobody cares. So much about the "newer players will be mad" argument.
as a switch player, the prices suck, HOWEVER. you can also pay for a 20 dollar membership just to play online on some/most games and these weird ports from old consoles... plus a 50 expansion pack that adds virtually like nothing besides more ports.
Spent £300 on this system during lockdown. A stupid decision because when i first saw the switch i knew it was terrible 2 years before. Moments before it arrived via post i was hardly hyped (compared to xbox and playstation). I just wanted a portable device just so i can play games whilst im away from home if i needed it. Just the joycons design gives it away as they look uncomfortable. On top of that there's the low resolution of 720p in handheld mode. Truth is right in peoples faces because mobile phones can even run way better than them. It seems more suitable to be sold for £150, not £259. But anyway i sold mine as I've owned it for 2 years, 8 months and played it for 36 hours! The games i like aren't even on the switch. The games that run well on it were those that have simple graphics like mario. Even Minecraft runs terribly (too much lag) because the system is so underpowered.
As an all around gamer myself, also love VR. I too see a ton of downsides to the Switch. Namely, the horrid online service, abysmal preservation of gaming history, Joy-Con drift, unnecessary attempts to porting modern games on a device that clearly can't run them, and its overpriced games that never go on sale bellow 30% off. That said, it sounds like the Switch just isn't your style and that's perfectly fine. As I said I'm an all around gamer so I enjoy other things too and I listed most of the negatives first to prove I'm not white knighting the company or anything. But I for one love most of their 1st party games. I've put hundreds of hours into Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Kart 8, and Smash Bros Ultimate. I'm also currently playing the heck out of Mario Wonder on my days off too. I've never been the kind of gamer that just plays one kind of game, I like a variety of games. I like most genres, realistic or cartoony, competitive, hard, and casual, multiplayer and single player, Doom and Mario, you get the idea. I tend to gravitate to Nintendo from time to time because while the rest of the industry tries to overpromise and release broken games, Nintendo outside of the Pokémon franchise, releases great polished games pretty consistently.
Also, the fact that the Switch is already 6 years old (at the time of this post), and is a handheld when its undocked excuses its lack of power in the modern era. I also think we will be seeing the next generation Nintendo platform either 2024 or 2025. I've been saying that for years before all the rumors. Point is, the agreement of it being underpowered is pretty ridiculous. Why would it be any stronger. This is a company that likes to profit off each platform sold unlike Sony, Microsoft, and even Valve that all sell their devices at a loss. As stated its 6 years old and early next year it'll be 7. Its been on the market much longer than the Steam Deck and all the other PC like handhelds. It probably didn't get the mid gen refresh because of the semiconductor shortage we semi recently were struggling with. So why are people disappointed its not as strong as 9th gen consoles the PS5 and X-Box Series X, or even 8th gen consoles the PS4 and X-Box One? Clearly the only generation you can reasonably compare it to after taking all the above into consideration is the 7th gen consoles the PS3 and X-Box 360. For an underpowered 2017 handheld that's only fair.
I will always appreciate those like you that are not only willing to listen to the complaints, but also give strong and valid rebuttals to them! Thank you for actively contributing to the conversation and providing a more unbiased view to this topic.
I at this time do not have any substantial counter points to your comment other than to say that the oled switch (which I feel should be mentioned when talking about the switch line) had the potential to deliver on many of the community's requests well after the release of the original console, and yet failed to provide any meaningful performance increases. It seemed to be another key instance of Nintendo doing what they thought was best instead of listening to what the consumers desired.
@@ZatiCoh I agree, the desired pro model would have been ideal rather than the more minor upgrade the OLED model brought to the table. It also likely would have extended the life of the Switch family by another year and a half (probably). Again, the semiconductor shortage might have had something to do with their original plans. There were several reports that a pro like model in the works from several reputable sources like Wallstreet Journal (according to some TH-camrs I follow). With the fear of it not selling, they might have settled on a more minor upgrade to reduce the risk of making substantial upgrades and it not selling. The rough launch of the 9th gen hardware around this time possibly made them reconsider and we the gamers got the less desirable outcome as a result of their usual cautious nature.
Fun fact: breath of the wild is on Wii U at first
Switch is terrible the controls are bad, uncomfortable, the base of the touchpad controls is oversized and the buttons are too small and the games are double even triple the price then what they are on the Ps4.
I feel you when you said you bought a game for social events that never happened 😂 I bought games and a new set of joy cons for that reason and they hardly see different faces 😅

I love Mario, but other than that, the games are shit on Nintendo. Not sure if i should spend 340 for a switch + mario wonder
Ps5 is so much better
Of course the PS5 has better graphics and performance but PS5 doesn’t have Mario, Zelda and Bayonetta plus those games are the best of Nintendo Switch and with Bayonetta 3 being some of the best graphics on the Switch which comes close to PS4.

Best purchase I've made this year.
It reminded me why I got into gaming in the first place.
After playing competitive games like CS:GO, valorant, rocket league, even Fortnite there for a while, I was getting tired of the same stressful sweaty dynamic.
The switch reminds you why you play video games, and I highly recommend anyone considering it to give it a try.
I agree with you on the pricing though. There's no excuse for a game that came out in 2017 being $60.
This is perfect! I completely agree that playing the switch was a breath of fresh air after years of comp games.
And that reason is?
@@JesusChristsDick to actually have fun and enjoy playing video games.
For some reason I had forgotten that was the reason I played them.
Twitch culture for a few years had me convinced being good at video games was all that mattered, and I was completely oblivious to the reason I started playing in the first place.
@@Ribcut You can have fun and enjoy games like that on PS5/Xbox/PC. Nintendo has zero/zilch/nada when it comes to competitive gameplay.
Is the Switch like a safe space for people who are bad-at/tired-of competitive games and don’t even want to be within proximity to them?
Sorry, but Nintendo IMHO is an incredibly unethical company taking advantage of their nostalgic fanbase while pushing vastly inferior, overpriced products in terms of both hardware and software.
@@Ribcut I can’t read, but you don’t know how / works. You don’t have to be bad at competitive games to be tired of them.
why are u using eXPENSIVE GAN cube
i get that u dont think its a worthwhile purchase, but if u keep it docked OF COURSE U SHOULD GET SOMETHING ELSE the hardware is only lacking because its the size of a small tablet, so yeah u can get a used ps4 instead, but then ur just limited to ur tv. and ALSO alot of nintendo games such as kirby the forgotten land, super mario odyssey and matroid dread (especially splatoon 3) are all amazing games that take SOOO LONG to complete. also if zelda took u three days to complete u rly need to touch grass because that game take 70 hours to complete and three days is 72 hours so do urself a favour and dont complete games in 1 continuous gameplay session. get a used ps4 if ur not gonna enjoy the beautiful 1st party nintendo games, honestly.
While I understand exactly where you are coming from, I think there are some flaws in what you have presented as well and I hope you don't mind a friendly rebuttal!
I did not play the majority of these games docked and never claimed to have. I much preferred the intimacy of having a handheld experience for what I would agree are some incredible games. However, that eliminates half of the usage of this console! One of the major selling points of the switch is the fact that it can be docked to a separate monitor. To criticize anyone who does keep their switch docked and tell them to get something else because of that also invalidates one of the key pieces of what makes the switch an interesting device in the first place.
While Zelda would traditionally take AROUND 70 hours to complete, I don't recall my playthrough taking nearly that long. Not to mention it was not a consecutive 3 days, though I'm sure my wording made it appear as such. My biggest concern with this section of your comment is ridiculing me for playing a game how I wanted to. If there is a story that flows and is as beautifully captivating as BOTW while having no limitations for how long it can be played,, then of course I will have a longer playtime per session.
One critique that in hindsight I really should've added to this video was the argument of replay value being fairly low with many of Nintendo's first party titles.
I touched on it a bit while discussing how after I finished BOTW there was not much else to do and hardly any incentive to do other quests. I share the same feelings for odyssey which I also completed in 3 days (consecutive) due a time restraint. I feel that Nintendo has a major problem when it comes to getting people to play the game for a while after it's been conquered. I've noticed that for a lot of people, unless they start speedrunning or modding a game, they never go back to it.
As someone who has derived immense pleasure from playing these games, I do understand where you are coming from. If you don't agree that these games lack the replay value that first party titles on other consoles have, then I'm okay with that. From personal experience and from the 10 different people around me that I can recall having a Switch, none of them use it anymore. I and MANY others didn't find any value in the console after being forced to pay premium prices for every release, including much older titles.
I appreciate your comment and the fact that you still find enough value in the Nintendo Switch to be this passionate. I am not like you, but I understand your enthusiasm. I hope you continue using the Switch in a way you are happy with, and maybe if I ever get Splatoon 3 I'll meet you there!
Ok first of all you said: “for the same price as a switch you could get a used previous gen console” AND you said that you got the switch because a lot of your friends seemed to enjoy theirs. (IF U WERE EXAGGERATING FOR SOME REASON I AM VERY SORRY)
Switch's design flaw, personal list :
- no screen protector on based model and V2 model.
- The Online paywall, hell nah
- Joycon drift.
Switch's hardware flaw :
-Arm based quad-core CPU
-locked GPU speed.
Overall NX review : Hybrid console, affirmative, quite slim, but aging poorly as time goes on.
They chosed the ARM cpu, so the console uses as little power as possible, while keeping a decent performance shot.
If the console had a better CPU, like, a Ryzen architecture, with 6 core instead of 4 weak cores, the games would've not had the limitations we saw in New Donk city and in the pokemon games.
Main drawback : it would consume, a lot more power and be unefficient as a hybrid console, making the Switch, irrelevant and impossible to pull off...
I hope Nintendo, make a better, stronger console with better specs, and more care putted into it.
Make it durable.
Make it powerful and easier to make games on.
And we'll get a revolution at Nintendo.
Nintendo stopped being good after the wii
I'm glad I bought a switch
i just took it off, i charged it up, the only game was fortnite, I deleted it, restarted smash bros, and has a little fun.
I just got a switch ole and I regret it. I’ll just stick to playing games on my iPhone until I save up for a PS5.
Tbh the ps portal looks way more promising than the switch
Never had a switch and the last nintendo console i had was a 2ds. A year after later the 2ds and the 10 games i have are collecting dust on the corner and one month later i sold it online. Im on my late 30s now and i played mario on nes and gameboy i enjoyed it until highschool but when i just bought the 2ds the store gave me 2 free games and i chose mario 3d land note 2ds has 6 buttons then i played mario wtf the game mechanics are still jump and fire and L to enter pipes i got bore immediately the ones i enjoyed on those 10 games ihad was sf iv ultra fifa 2014 and castlevania dawn of sorrow (these has more thrill for me). Nintendo if your listening your games are boring make some games for the old dudes. I wasted money on your games and if the 2ds has no games its useless. Guys do not buy nintendo games and console anymore coz the more you buy from them then theyll have money to produce new stuff that will milk your pockets stay with steam and pc.
This may be a hot take but I wish Nintendo would just finally try again with making a more powerful console, one that's at least more powerful than the Sony PS4 (it would be impossible to touch the PS5 of course). Maybe they could ditch the hybrid feature, and support this powerful console alongside the Switch? It would be great to see what kind of Mario games we'd get
Nah Nintendo needs to make a system on par with a series x or ps5. No reason not to

That was on you for some of it. Too bad you ignored a lot of great switch games and instead called it bad.
I agree there are a few phenomenal titles on the switch, but I don't think the experience of playing Mario Odyssey could outweigh the many problems the console has long term. I also enjoyed most of the games that I bought, but the problems with the console and pricing around them really drove me away from seeking out more. The fact that Nintendo still ships out consoles that will inevitably encounter joycon drift is a blatant example of how little attention or care they give to the parts they use.
I'd love to hear what you consider a great switch game though! If I have access to playing them I'll check them out!
The games are what makes it shine.
@XboxxAye Switch is a secondary console tbh. I'd get an Xbox or Playstation for third party titles

That's the official Nintendo website for Mario kart 8 deluxe. I also see that there are independent retailers lowering the prices, mainly because they know it would be absurd to force the same price for the same game for 6 years. Nintendo simply refuses. Another example is directly from their store page, which I will link below as well! At the time of buying my switch there were no physical copies going for a lower price that were still in stock, so I and many others were forced to pay Nintendo's pricing.

Nah, you had it right the first time. It is poorly designed. Might be the fact that I have large hands, but if I need to get a third party grip or joycons to have a comfortable experience, then it’s poorly designed. The Switch has its problems but I’d rather play Switch games that are fun than be gouged for micro transactions with complicated menus and gameplay controls and your points are valid of course with the joy Condra, and with the hardware beginning to show its age, but the likes of Bayeta shows that they’re still life left in the Nintendo switch hardware and the switch experience isn’t comparable to that of say a PS5 or Xbox series one X, because you should know that Nintendo philosophy has never been about graphics it’s been about delivering unique and innovative experiences and I think the switch has more than achieved what it set out to do, and I’m turning my back on PlayStation selling my PS4 and moving to Nintendo because Nintendo fits in with what I want in video games and my lifestyle, because I want to be able to take my games on the go which is something neither PlayStation or Xbox can do.

It’s heavier than I thought it would be, uncomfortable in hands as the joy-cons dig into my palms, the user interface “GUI” is terrible compared to previous generation (Wii U, yeah I said that) and the Switch “eShop” is poorly thought out and very janky as it lags and is very slow to load game icons. To be perfectly honest I went back to playing Nintendo’s previous generation Wii U console and so glad I didn’t rebuy those fantastic games that were ported from the Wii U to the Switch as those are the games that gave the Switch its early success. IMO Switch is a dumping ground for indie & 3rd parties, (something the Wii U didn’t have much of) not that it’s a bad thing but WE BUY Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games first and other than the fantastic games that were ported over from the Wii U there really not much from Nintendo. Have they gotten lazy and left the Switch to the indie and 3rd party devs? I think so. Disappointing
Xbox series s ie better than Nintendo and comes for the same pice
