Hi mate just subscribed, great channel and great video. I’ve also got an e46 m3 in manual. In my opinion the manual is better, however if the smg is fine then would leave well alone. No point in tampering with the originality of the car for obvious reasons. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Just out of curiosity what android touch screen system is fitted? Looking to get rid of the dinosaur sat nav
@@spurs079 thank you mate. I'm not sure on the system to be honest as it was already in the car, but I'll have a look tomorrow in the history file to see if there's a booklet 🙂
I'm also aware there's a kit that can modified the existing bell housing which requires machining of the 2 holes but too much of a faf I'm just after the quickest option, as I'm on a bit of a time crunch because I'll need the car out for when the ferrari project comes back from the paint shop
Awesome car I just changed out my ckp sensor new bolt and o ring I then cleared the code turned it on done deal usually the ckp will go out long before the cam sensors they seem to hang in alot more
Lovely car and I’m jealous. But please don’t use a sponge to wash it! Use a microfibre mitt or something similar. Best to scrub the soft top using horse hair brush with soft top cleaner (Autoglym is cheapest but Gtechniq is also very good). Having had an E46 Cab for 14 years I know a lot about their foibles. Wasn’t an M3 though!
Lol I used to take my hard top off by myself by putting all the windows Down doors open get in the back and literally stand up with your hands either side works great lol
Braver man than I ever was. My partner said she wasn’t happy doing it so had to ask neighbours to help. Then the headliner dropped in the hard top whilst stored over the summer so didn’t fit it again!
@@howardgregory3888 I used to walk mine into my flat lol and leave it on my sofa lol 😂 I was back and forth with it it wasn’t off for long I never really left the soft roof up it never saw rain that roof
Never wash a car with a sponge. Puts loads of micro scratches in paintwork. Need to use a microfibre mitt and the two bucket method! Also could have just left the windows open rather than putting the wet roof down.
It's getting a full machine polish mate do you really think it's had the 2 bucket method all it's life and there was no micro swirls already in it ? It needed a quick wash. Also the interior was mega damp, quickest way to dry it and get access for me to get in and valet it and be able to see what I'm doing in the dark was roof down in my unit. Feel free to post your own expert videos and show us all "How its done" ill be your first subscriber👍
Enjoyed your video….. but don’t put a cabriolet roof away wet, ever! Interior, could have waited 😬 The SMG, is a decent box, the Germans aren’t stupid, I’d wait until you have problems, then think about it. Everyone, should give the SMG, a fair chance…. Get used to it, enjoy it. There was a reason it was in the CSL’s. Look forward, to following your journey, anyway 👍
M8 theres nothing wrong with that car! I would disconnect the battery and give it a good charge, then reconnect it, hopefully it will clear most of the issues, it's been standing for a while, it just needs a good run
@@shaheednazir786it was a bit of an impulse buy for me, I went to look at it and when I seen how clean and well looked after it was I just had to have it.
Thank you for being you. However if you change this motor vehicle out of its configuration from the time it was produced you will remove value authentic motor vehicles are the ones that are sought after I have a 1998 M3 that they raced for the 19 9848 hour with the 252 kW Motor auto over manual SMG one thing that you would want to look at is the harmonic balancer at the front of the crank shot. They have rubber fuses inside the doof. I had to replace the one I have. It went over a hump in the road simple and it damaged the power steering including the alternator. If you change from auto to manual the motor is set for vacuum that is one thing that is not taken into consideration. Leave standard and make more money. Regards and down under. Yes I am in contact with the B.M.W group.

Stunning Car 👍👍Looking forward to seeing you sort out the BMW 👍👍

You’re a brave man to be using a pressure washer on a soft top and in some of those crevices 😮
I get what your saying but needed it unfortunately

All time fav, are they CSL rims?
Yes they are CSL rims mate and they are a fantastic car. Defo a future classic to keep an eye on 🙂
@RetroRestorationGarage perfect combination, Totally agree future classic status
Will you be doing a how to guide on the smg to manual swap?
If I do the swap then yes, but the general consensus at the moment is I should leave it SMG
Love these cars absolute classic 👍

Miss mine… had the same colour combo but matching hardtop 😅
You don’t need a different gearbox you can modify the one you have?
Yes I know its a bell housing swap etc... but if there's a complete setup/package that someone will sell me I'll take the lot.
I'm also aware there's a kit that can modified the existing bell housing which requires machining of the 2 holes but too much of a faf I'm just after the quickest option, as I'm on a bit of a time crunch because I'll need the car out for when the ferrari project comes back from the paint shop

Thanks for sharing, I've just sorted this by changing the crank sensor and TPS. New episode be up soon 😊
They are a nice looking car and plenty of poke too.
Thanks, it's a lovely car.
Is the hard top ment to be that colour? or is it off a different car...I'm sure you'll have it looking fantastic in no time 🎉
Hardtop is from a different car I'm having it painted to match 🙂

I actually was going to buy this car but was too far from London, anyways best of luck its a good future investment

Clear all the codes first, then drive to fail point, then use scanner...
If you change your mind on getting that hardtop painted I'll have it off you :)
Don't rev a cold engine 😮😢 Nice M3
Who revved a cold engine?
Rare expensive used 🤣money pit. My neighbours got one exactly same. Never moves and was restored💰bet it's Ulez
Watching you just try take that top of on your own. Is mad. Pulling things off being rough just messes other things up. No care

E46's have been done to death. Time to find something else
I'm doing it for me.. if you didn't notice there's quite a lot of other stuff on the channel.
Keep doing them mate. It’s the people that don’t own them that complain.
@spurs079 I've had one for 16 years
