Tips that maybe could help you better
    1. You can upgrade the town better using the building planner
    2. You can upgrade the lesser unit you have into better one in mercenary tabs, (ex. your skeleton can be upgraded in the unit creation tab under the skeleton picture)
    3. Building the mage tower would help your hero tremendously, since you get 3 spells that could help in battle

Actually only map mod resembles homm 1 map mod. However, if this game had at least animated map and castle display modes looking like homm 4 and isometric real-time battles like the old "lords of magic" game, I'd be happy to buy it right away.

Okay. Here are some basic tips:
    1. BUILD EVERY SINGLE DAY if you can, otherwise you're fucked.
    2. Explore and collect everything you can so that you can apply nr.1. Things that you can interact with have a glow on them, it can be hard to notice but you'll eventually learn to see them.
    3. You can move your troops around on the battlefield before you start the battle by drag and drop. Also you can issue move commands to some units during battle by drag and drop. Positioning your troops properly can make a HUGE difference. You don't want your archers on the front for example.
    4. Don't take any battles above moderate threat level and even those you should be weary of. I like to only take easy fights especially in the beginning of a match. This is a numbers game, if you keep losing your weekly army you'll be way behind the AI. Try to snowball your numbers.
    5. Look at the bar above the battle screen to tell if you're winning or not. There are 2 colors. One is your relative strength the other one is the enemy's. If you are evenly matched USE ALL spells at your disposal, don't fuck around and waste your troops. If you are out matched, use even more spells or just order a retreat, sometimes you can get some of your bigger units out of a battle.

It's interesting watching someone not familiar with HOMM play this homage (HOMMage?) to them. I've not played it as it's Windows-only, so even though I would've made many different decisions, I can't say for sure most of them would have been better. I do feel comfortable saying that building the throne of the dead when you did was almost certainly a big misstep, because you built it on week 1 day 7. If you'd built the mansion, you could have recruited 4 more vampires instantly (going from 3 to 7, meaning you would have won that first battle you lost), and then you could've recruited 4 more the next day.
That's a basic HOMM strategy that almost certainly applies in this game, too: build as many creature dwellings as possible in week 1, because you'll grow your army the fastest that way.
Anyway thanks for the video, great stuff as always!

I never played HOMM, so my little review up top is probably the closest you'll get. I have not played this faction yet though, so the details are all going to be different. the Factions are EXTREMEMLY diverse and work in different ways - even the different heroes have totally different specialties. Like, I am playing the Nature guys, and I can get these Archers (beastmasters?) that immediately also spawn TWO hand-to-hand units (wolves) each, and then stick them under a hero who has archery+ as one of his top skills, and add all archery plus items to his inv. - I almost feel like I'm cheating, but as you get higher up in each faction, lots of them have neat ways to get tons of free units and you need that to beat the AI.

I find the mix of genres well executed, the fights are fun and dynamic. It looks simple at first and then all the depth shows, an entertaining challenge for sure.

I got it for $16 on Steam the other day, and especially staying at a hotel where the WIFI is just south of terrible, I had (lol) to play games and I've put about 50 hours into it already and it's super fun! WAY worth the price at the very least, and very replayable. I've only finished a couple games and only with 1 faction as I learn.

The original Heroes of Might and Magic games (1 through 4) have precisely nothing to do with Ubisoft. They were made by New World Computing and published by 3DO. Ubi got the IP rights after 3DO went bankrupt a few years later, and it’s all been downhill from there for the Might & Magic franchise, leading to creation of independent games like this one to try and rectify the situation.

I played this game and it is fun, it is like a combination of some games where you need to explore to strengthen your army and your kingdom. You could even make your own custom map but I wish that player could upgrade or strengthen the border gate or build tower defenses.

I liked the game when i played it but it seemed weird to me... The fishy aqua factions caster was a pyromancer? the Dwarves are an earth faction yet get a bunch of ice themed units ? both their heroes passives were basically the same thing.. Some units and skills just felt really out of place like they were placeholder and i hope they were

My man... I cringed so hard when you said you never played Ubisoft Games referring to Heroes of Might and Magic...
HoMM went to Ubisoft to die, to be butchered and brutally murdered.
You want to play HoMM 2 and HoMM 3 for the greatest TBS experience, not the later Ubisoft abominations.

I do like the game except for the random crashes and the ai being bonkers, though random crashes are forgivable cause it saves at the start of every day.
Also feel the soul beacon does not compensate for the sheer mana drain that necromancy does and the fact any big battles, your losing alot mroe guys then what it gives you. as is, soul beacons a trap. ALSO WHY IS IT A DISCOUNT. I would rather have the mana.
Sidenote, i really like Lanzo from the human faction, his ability to just have pikemen is so strong
Ok about necromancy probably more i have not experimented enough with it.
