I have a few questions...first, I was really wanting to get a new exhaust system...but I live in the city, and go to work at 5am. How much louder, at idle is your exhaust? Would I be the pain in the a$$ neighbor if I change? Also, will smog or registration be an issue once it's on? I'd take is to the dealership for the install, as I'm not a rocket surgeon like you...

If you live in SF then yes your neighbors will not like the extreme loudness of the Termignoni Titanium Dragster exhaust. Also no dealership will install in CA. Motorcycles only get smogged once when they are sold so it will never be checked. The only problem is that no dealership will install aftermarket exhaust systems on CA registered bikes. I think the Akropovic exhaust would be OK at idle since it is much quieter and I think the dealership will install if you buy it from them. I know they will install in Texas if you really want to. I would call first. Once you have it done then you are essentially an Outlaw biker like me riding in a grey zone. My neighbor is a CHP and he said they don't care unless you're driving like a complete idiot. The easiest way to get the exhaust is to register your bike in Nevada at a friend or relatives house. Then the Reno Ducati will install for you and it will not void your warranty. The Rocklin Ducati dealership just did my 19,000 mile service and my Termignoni Titanium Dragster exhaust doesn't void the warranty and I also remapped my bikes brain to match the exhaust and force full time Four cylinder mode.

Did you ask your dealer to order the free replacement rear seat?

Thanks for all of this. That was not the best way to explain the annual running cost. You cant really count the bike since most will have a payment and in 7 yrs you will prob recoup $12k in a sale with 140k miles. So you would have only paid $16k for the Diavel prior to the modifications, which you will loose money on.
    $4500 Gas 20k miles (CA)
    $1900 Insurance (CA)
    $500 1st service
    $850 9k km service
    $750 Tires x 2 sets
$800 1 yr service and chain service
    $10,050 annual carrying cost.
My takeaway is to expect a minimum $700 expense to visit the Ducati service center for anything.
So in summary, in 7 yrs or 140k miles:
    1. $70,350 in running cost
    2. $44,800 of that is insurance and gas costs (which would be similar and unavoidable with any comparable 160hp bike)
    3. $25,550 over 7 yrs or $3650 per yr is Diavel/Ducati Service/tires specific running cost
    4. If you trade in the bike with 140k miles you will prob get less than avg Diavel with less miles. But lets low ball and say 12k at stealership. 28k -12k = 16k actual paid for the machine over 140k miles. Or $2,285 per yr for the bike.
    5. So about $5935 per year running cost. (2285+3650)

I bought the 2024 Diavel V4 for a sticker price of $27,500.00 plus taxes etc. I have an older video which itemizes all of the costs. The $50,000.00 is the total receipts of everything so far after one year. Also I never plan on selling the bike that is why I dumped so much money into it. That is just how I roll. I still have my 1995 Chevy Silverado Z-71 LT 4X4 truck which has 350,000 miles on it and running strong. My son will take it over and run it another 500,000 miles.

I appreciate your thoroughly covering the numbers! Have you considered some carbon fiber parts? I think id like to replace the plastic intakes with carbon fiber. Maybe a few other pieces. I dont care for the silver pipe cover on the bottom as well. Im going to replace that with carbon fiber too.

I'll probably add a few carbon parts this summer.

My dude, you need to find a new insurance company. Those prices are insane.

Yup, living in Cali is expensive.......I was born in LA in 1964 and I plan to move out soon due the excessive taxation.
