This is my second song on guitar, started a few months ago with lots of breaks.
week 1; I'm able to play the riffs as I've played alot of chords before.
Week 2: a lil faster :))

Marty, I've been trying to learn that song since I was like 15. I tried many tabs in magazines and online over the years and I could just never figure it out. I can't believe you just taught me how to play it in 24 minutes! I guess it helps that I'm a much better, (but still crappy) guitar player than I used to be. Thanks! Now to go play along with the song and get it all down right.

Marty, you are one of the best guitar instructors I have found on TH-cam. You do not rush through lessons and there is no assumption that your audience knows everything already. So far I have made it through the first portion of this video with ease (still need to clean it up) and I am looking forward to learning the rest of the song. Keep up the great work you are awesome!

Protip for those of you, like me, who can't make the connection between the slow version of the very first part of the lick and the full speed: watch the very start of the video and set the playback speed to 0.5 and play along to it. Then once you get comfortable, speed it up a bit.

I wore out the grooves in my Back In Black album during my soph year of HS when this album came out. I'm now learning to play it nearly 40 years later. Marty, thank you. Every song I want to try, there you are. You make a big difference to this officially intermediate player.
I just started trying to learn to play at 43 years old and this song is one of the songs on my "must learn" list! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially the first part of it, it's so iconic and recognizable. I'll be very very happy with my progress if I can just learn the first portion on my new to me Les Paul. Nice thing about trying to learn new stuff when you get a bit older...you can (hopefully) afford cool shit like a Les Paul to start with, LOL.

I am learning this song surprisingly quickly because my mom said if I master this song on Christmas I will get 50 dollars but this is really fun and it's the first song I ever learned. So for a kid in training, I think I'm doing pretty good

Having said that, let me say this….I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE HORSESHIT ADS (by Others) that claim “This one little ‘secret’ or ‘exercise’ will have you shredding up and down the neck like THIS (and some dude fluently plays a badass freestyle cross between EVH and Eric Johnson), if you only go to this link!!!!” Guess what? There’s NOTHING that can instantly make you an awesome player. Yes there are tricks to make some steps easier to learn, but LESSONS and PRACTICE is the only way to get there, for 99% of us players out there.
Oh and 10,000 hours? Nothing magic there either. I’ve played for 50 years, was brought up in a musical family and have a great ear and tempo. I’ve easily played 10,000 hours, but I SUCK! Not like can’t play Smoke On Water suck, but like still make errors constantly. Damn, I wish I’d taken more lessons and practiced what they were teaching me.

Jayson Sloane Whats wrong with later floyd? Id say they didnt tank too hard until The Delicate Sound of Thunder. A lot of people hate on the post '73 albums but Id say if they didnt get major popularity they would be right up there with Meddle and Atom Heart Mother

I'm back! Not in black, but back to watch this again. Best BIB lesson on TH-cam and I've watched about half a dozen different ones. I try other techniques, but always revert back to Marty's. I must learn to play this well! It has everything. Great practice learning this one!! I find the timing difficult. You have to be dead on to sound right. I've been playing along to a backing track and recording myself playing the song. Really helps. I found playing along to the original song hides my mistakes too well. Great song.
BTW, Tim Pierce said in his BIB lesson that hard part was put in there to "weed out the weaklings", or something like that. lol Made me laugh. : )

The intro Em minor Pentatonic lick , the Third Note in , "the D note" Marty plays , should be 2 notes together. A "D note"( 3rd fret) and an open E on the 1st string. This creates a discordant sound.
Marty's way is better for beginners as the real version is quite difficult to play.
Let’s just be honest. You’re either A) Someone trying to play back in Black, or B) someone who doesn’t understand a thing about guitars, but you Think it sounds cool.

I have been playing for 4 months ..thus far worked on symphony of destruction , currently working on whiplash and started practicing nothing else matters and back in black ...I used to just practice one song but trying different riffs then adding the next part of one of the songs I am working on is opening my song book and possibilities such as chords changes ..your vids are the best !!!!
