I know what the song is about, but I have a loose theory that this song is loosely based on the deaths of Russel's Highschool friends. 1: Guns. It was a shooting. That one is kinda self explanatory. 2: At some points in the song you can hear a roar of a car. The shooting was a drive by shooting. 3: Near the end, Russel is pounding on the drums SO HARD. almost like he's really emotional. Breaks my heart :'(

It was more about the album advocating opinions the listener disagreed with. Say what you want about the world, but one thing that can't be denied is that its people will be mad when someone with a bigger voice than them states an opinion they disagree with
One of the best albums of the 21st century, everything they put on wax held true, Demon Days is an album about the beginning of the end, and the light at the end of the tunnel
"Kids with Guns" was inspired by a child at Damon Albarn's daughter's school, who had arrived one day with a knife. Albarn said, "A nice boy just decided to pick up a knife and show it to his friends at lunchtime. It's a very real problem, but I'm not treating it as a problem. It's part of the brutalization of a generation that's going on at the moment."
I did that once. A teach let me borrow his pocket knife and I was trying to return it but ended up getting called to the principal's office. Whoops. Lucky for me, nobody cared as much as they do now and I got off with a stern warning.
im in elementery school.and the school is next to a high school one day a kid in the high school brought a gun to school to shoot a kid everyone was scared we spent most of the day in a classroom
I think this song is actually a tribute to Russel. When he was a teen, he went to britan and met lots of rappers and became friends with them. On day they were at a city corner and a group of kids in a car shot all of his friends, and the ghost that posses Russel in Clint Eastwood is Russel's best friend
So I remember, during my freshman year of High School, a bomb threat was called and my whole school was put down on lockdown. I was stuck in a food closet for most of the day for food class and we all had raisins to eat for lunch, and we are cramped by sitting in the same position for four hours. We heard members of a bomb threat unit walking cautiously, guns ready, outside of the closet moving from room to room. I remember at the end of the day, I was walking out of the building to see men dressed in kevlar gear, hold AR-15’s and shotguns, by the doorway. When I was exiting the building, I was playing this song. What a more fitting theme for a day like that.
@@Henrykrinkle5 same shit happened at my highschool before i was homeschooled. dude held 2 8th graders hostage in one of the school buildings, police units had to deal with the situation. he was in possession of drugs, firearms and explosives. i can find the police report online if i look hard enough.
As someone who lives in America, this song really hits hard. Ever since Columbine, school shooting just have been getting worse and worse here in the States. Especially down in the south, and I swear, nobody wants to do anything about it. We don't have to get rid of guns entirely, but we need to change the rules for guns. Its not a free country if INNOCENT lives are being lost.
With 3D printed guns there's nothing people can do, I'm glad to be going to high school next year so I can get this shit down with and not worry about losing my life, hopefully I can get enrolled online. But I still worry about the current and future generations, they still have to risk their life when heading to school which is awful, hopefully something can be done about this but I don't know I don't see it slowing down as mental illness is rising.
@Andromeda hes not wrong though, media controlled by lobbyists, politicians controlled by lobbyists, especially on the right, the lobbyists are NRA, gun lobbyists and war-hawk lobbyists, both push for war and push for guns to be in the hands of children. The blatant culture of american exceptionalism, where any critiques are called "anti american" Need I reminder you we have a president who actually believes that saying "guys we have problems in the united states" is anti american and that people who complain should just leave the US
@Ťųx' Bįřđ So you're denying that the NRA doesnt have special interests in our government? Or that during most democratic presidential terms, they pump out fear mongering ads that aim to get people to buy more guns

It was based off an accident that happened at Damon's (The singer) daughter's school
Breaks my heart :'(
Gluten Bitch woah
I thought of it as about kid soldiers in some countries. I can't remember where but I read about it somewhere once and I'm sure it's a thing.
It is about the Columbine shooting due to Damon Albarns family member being in the shooting.
false. it's based on a kid bringing a knife to his daughter's school and the brutalization of a generation

when ppl were mad about the new album being "too political." do u think theyve ever actually listened to gorillaz?
It was more about the album advocating opinions the listener disagreed with. Say what you want about the world, but one thing that can't be denied is that its people will be mad when someone with a bigger voice than them states an opinion they disagree with
@@edohanma Or if someone with a smaller voice does it.

Demon Days has to be one of their best albums without a doubt
One of the best albums of the 21st century, everything they put on wax held true, Demon Days is an album about the beginning of the end, and the light at the end of the tunnel
Hands down my favorite. Plastic beach is a close second.
A Marmalade Person why did a teacher give you a knife?

I think this song is actually a tribute to Russel. When he was a teen, he went to britan and met lots of rappers and became friends with them. On day they were at a city corner and a group of kids in a car shot all of his friends, and the ghost that posses Russel in Clint Eastwood is Russel's best friend
He lived in usa and moved to britan after all his friends were killed. Thats where murdoc kidnapped him
i also thought abt the super soldier program that noodle was on but that actually works too

As someone who lives in America, this song really hits hard. Ever since Columbine, school shooting just have been getting worse and worse here in the States. Especially down in the south, and I swear, nobody wants to do anything about it. We don't have to get rid of guns entirely, but we need to change the rules for guns. Its not a free country if INNOCENT lives are being lost.
school shootings have been bad even before Columbine
With 3D printed guns there's nothing people can do, I'm glad to be going to high school next year so I can get this shit down with and not worry about losing my life, hopefully I can get enrolled online. But I still worry about the current and future generations, they still have to risk their life when heading to school which is awful, hopefully something can be done about this but I don't know I don't see it slowing down as mental illness is rising.
school shooters are still the closest thing we have to real life super heroes.

@Andromeda hes not wrong though, media controlled by lobbyists, politicians controlled by lobbyists, especially on the right, the lobbyists are NRA, gun lobbyists and war-hawk lobbyists, both push for war and push for guns to be in the hands of children. The blatant culture of american exceptionalism, where any critiques are called "anti american" Need I reminder you we have a president who actually believes that saying "guys we have problems in the united states" is anti american and that people who complain should just leave the US
@Andromeda Also the culture around privacy, the NSA and corporations who steal data is comparable to 1984, good book btw.
@Ťųx' Bįřđ So you're denying that the NRA doesnt have special interests in our government? Or that during most democratic presidential terms, they pump out fear mongering ads that aim to get people to buy more guns
