@@OwenBikeNerd dude you’ve smashed it since joining GMBN and doing a cross over with EMBN keep it going we all appreciate it. Holding you up there both big Rich currently 😝
Awesome to see Owen on this channel as well as GMBN. So full of knowledge and tips. I am setting on an epic eMTB ride with lots of climbs later this week. Taking some of the advise and going with it. Love the epic videos!!! More Owen please!
Cool adventure ride! Kellys does seem to be hitting the sweet spot with a full powered, big juice box, lighter bike. I'm betting others will start popping up soon! Good natural evolution...now the industry is just waiting for the first legit solid state battery ("the holy grail") to shave off another 4-5 lbs and truly get a sub 38 lb big travel/big capacity rig.🤟
Thank you Owen and crew. Enjoying the longer format when putting a bike (& yourself) through its paces. A lightweight option does now seems real for some cracking rides. West Highland way and Pitlochry on the 2025 trip plan when over next.
Why thank you - such positive feedback - it was a real team effort though - and very pleased that all the work paid off pleased you enjoyed it - yes we'll aim for more! Cheers Owen
Owen always tells an amusing story....I like his style.....Where does the van get all that power to re-charge your bikes? A bunch of Batteries to charge your bike batteries? I hope you explain...
ha ha ha - why thank you - I'll totally take a comparison to the Beatles mop top - but also great that the video worked for you beyond my hair - What EMTB are you? does range concern you or limit your route plotting? Cheers Owen
@@OwenBikeNerd I'm on a Trek with a Gen 2 (#5 DU now) and a Yamaha. Both are 500 watt batteries which, at my age (62) is plenty of trail riding. Up to 40 km on a usual ride. My channel has a few videos documenting the 'journey', Cheers!
I can't understand why you would need more torque on a 1x12 setup. I have to be really carefull with my 1x10 in Turbo or it just wheelies me off the back. I can understand the need for 1x12 on a standard MTB but anything more than 1x10 on an eMTB is overkill. Also you wouldn't need a huge derailleur hanging off the frame. Just my thoughts. Maybe EMBN could do a comparison or something?
Good luck charging an ebike from empty in a van. Never mind three or four bikes with high capacity batteries. And don’t even think about mentioning solar power, this was Wales!☔️
Nice! Next test a little more detail on off-grid recharging . Would be nice to have a 12V input charger for those 5figure price tag bikes. In the past it was easier to make a diy car charger for my Bosch batt, but these days chargers are more complicated ( CAN bus control). It would be nice to have the option to get a 12V-input off grid charger; at a reasonable price ( not 200euro) and a better form factor !! Who came up with the horrendously ugly and useless chargers design ? i have a simple 30euro car trickle charger for my car, where the wires can easily be wound and clipped around the housing. btw. by transforming straight from 12V to 50V i saved 30% energy ! that means i could full-charge 3x instead of 2x on a weekend.( from a separate stationary batt., of course )
How much more fun would it be with a high power motor and high output, mid range capacity, I don't need the range or weigh of an 850watt battery but neither do I want a 65Nm 450watt, for me the ideal would be a 95-110Nm with a 450-500Mah
Interesting insights - The high power or more the torque is great so in full agreement there - I guess its always a balance with more power on tap - the quicker you tend to go through it - so i'd rather have the extra capacity there rather than risk juicing through it all... again interesting insights! Cheers Owen
Range changes depending on terrain and if it is wet or dry, how much hill climbing, how much downhill, how you set the engine, how much you weight, how much gear you carry...
To all who did not get a point. When you are making claims about something, providing data and summary should be your first priority. Or you should say this is a sponsored video.
"Ludicrous big power " ?😂 85 Nm hardly qualifies as ludicrous when compare to the following motors - brose- 90 rocky mountain over 100 TQ 120 nm BMZ 110 at low cadence , 40 to60 rpm DJI 120 Nm bafang what did i leave out ?
Constructive feedback is always welcome - less constructive feedback is tricky - if you've got some pointers or comments of how you'd improve it let us know! Cheers Owen
Such amazingly looking ebikes these Theos rigs

I agree, Owen brings a new "view" to EMTB as a "convert" from Acoustic...man 😂

cracking video lads.
Thanks! 💪
Ha, I know that trail well, been going there since the 90s, some of the most remote areas in Europe, thats a perfect bike for the job.
Yeah its a wild, rugged remote and awesome - I'm definitely heading back up there!

@@OwenBikeNerd Do you have a GPX file of the route??
Excellent...👍

It is! Thank you 👍
I was hoping for more about the van.
You can find out more about the vans here! 👉 embn.me/GallivantCampers
What a great video!!!! Love that Kelly’s bike… Hope soon they could sell them in Mexico…
Congrats
Kellys also make great ice cream, who knew ! 😅
Incredible ice creams! 🍨 But sadly not the same brand 😂
Owen always tells an amusing story....I like his style.....Where does the van get all that power to re-charge your bikes? A bunch of Batteries to charge your bike batteries? I hope you explain...
It probably has a good size lithium battery and solar panels. I've built something similar to be able to charge a couple of ebike batteries.
Hey Owen, the Beatles called, they want their mop top back
Nice presentation though

It's ashame there isn't a pinion version so no worries of smashing off the rear mech 😢
Have you got a link to the gpx file of this loop? Thanks

I like the specs of that Kellys, not so sure about the geo... that's just me anyway, nice video! 👍
What geometry do you look for in a bike?
needed a km tally and a update on bike battery throughout the video.
It will be great if you can do Vittoria E-Mazza/Martello review... GMBN ride mostly Vittoria tires, why do you ignore them?
I’m completely bald but when you say plug them into charge? Is that a gas generator
I have the feeling I'm watching one big advertisement (which it is off course)
yeh and cost?
"The future" is something that you said about Kelly's before, but you don't mention them anywhere near enough.
They are changing to aluminium
My Kelly’s frame cracked and it took 4 months for a replacement
what's wrong with a range extender?

blake let you borrow his van?

I watched the whole 20 min of this and still do not know what was the actual range and climb of this Epic ride...
Are you sure you watched it, he said 63km with 2k of climbing with 3 bars of energy left.
Range changes depending on terrain and if it is wet or dry, how much hill climbing, how much downhill, how you set the engine, how much you weight, how much gear you carry...

Plus depending how you use your cadence and how much you weigh as well..
I’m a YT decoy boy, it’s a lot like the biker gangs you see in the movies except we can’t fight and there’s no women anywhere.

britian dialects
