    Thank you so much! I just got my GF and am entering the Illustrator world (been using PS amateurishly since 1999 or so) and found this very helpful in setting up my GF workspace. Now on to your Start to Finish Illustrator Design video :)

    New to Glowforge, I haven't even received yet but hungry for knowledge, your video in setting up the template is fantastic even for me that have no idea how to work on it much less illustrator, kudos Christopher, the material is excellent!

    It took me longer than I would have liked to find this video from your channel page (I started with the "Start to Finish..." video from 2018) but once I did I could almost follow the instructions from the audio, alone. Thank you for being so thorough and clear with your process and descriptions.

    This was super helpful. I just got my glow forge and I didn't want to pay the steep price for Corel draw so I went with illustrator and your tutorial helped me alot. Will be checking out the rest of your tutorials soon

    Thank you so much! Your teaching style is very accessible and understandable for all levels of users. I have been using a CNC for over a year, primarily in Photoshop and Vetric Design Suite and just purchased the Glowforge Pro (it arrives in about 3 weeks) and I have been looking for a good AI setup and I found your videos! Thank you again!!! Happy New Year!

    Brilliant! I had lots of issues with translating from Illustrator to Trotec Job Control where the cutting line would not work.
    I have now set up Illustrator to the Glowforge settings which appear to have cleared the problems.

    This was so perfect to follow along to! I'll try your grid method and see how I like it. I went a couple steps further and added Graphic Styles for GF Cut and GF score! Thanks again, now to make one with my Siser Swatches for apparel!!

    Thank you. The only thing that didn't work for me in Illustrator 2018 CC was dragging the Appearance to get the default style.

    • @harmonyblakeway9293
      @harmonyblakeway9293 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I pulled the "Appearance" and "Graphic Styles" windows into two separate windows, and then it worked. And because I'm on a Mac, I used "Option" instead of "Alt"

    Great tutorial.....I wasn't able to drag and drop the Graphic style default (13:14) in your video as shown...Do you know how to update that for 2024? When I opened my Glowforge template it doesnt show the fill blank and the stroke blank...It's not a big deal but it would be a great option to already have it in place....Thanks again....Easy to follow along with...

    In trying to change the default appearance to none, I am unable to drag the blank appearance over graphic styles and save it so that it starts as transparent. Can anyone help?
    Thanks for this video it was super helpful!

    Thank you Chris, great tutorial and following your instruction it works perfectly. But if I want to open a file rather than create a new one, how do I use this workspace? After opening a file, clicking on the GlowForge Workspace doesn’t change anything for me.

    Hey Chris. Great video. I seem to have run into a speed bump at the very end trying to drag the No Selection Appearance into the Graphic Styles. It is not allowing me to. Any idea why it wouldn't allow me to? On AI 23.1.1 on OS 10.12.6. Thanks again.

    Hi Christopher, your videos are very informative and easy to follow. I am trying to create lasercut invitations and have adobe stock images. Can you share a video on how to make these?

    • @ChrisMasto
      @ChrisMasto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm happy to have suggestions for future videos, but I don't understand what you want. Is there something specific about invitations that you're having trouble with?

    • @nrana713
      @nrana713 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisMasto thanks for taking the time to send a response. So I just signed up with Adobe to use their stock images. I am also a beginner with Illustrator. I searched lasercut invitations and found images I'd like to use with my glowforge so i can make that exact lasercut invitation. But I am having trouble. I had my glowforge for 4 months and havent even used it once because im trying to learn first how to use Illustrator and or Photoshop.

    Chris I downloaded that glowforge.ai file but it is showing as glowforge.ai.ps now. So it does not open in AI at all and it appears to be just a txt file. Has it been changed perhaps?

    • @ChrisMasto
      @ChrisMasto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it should be fine if you rename it.

  • @mghumphrey
    @mghumphrey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it matter that you left the color mode to CMYK?

    • @ChrisMasto
      @ChrisMasto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't. All it cares about is that the colors are the same, not what they actually are. Doing it this way and exporting to SVG produces the desired result. I thought about changing to RGB, but I don't understand enough about color settings in Illustrator so I figured it was best to keep things simple.
