Wow - you really do get a lot out of a small space! Can't wait to see how you set up the next one, but loved seeing how you made this space work for you.
Thanks! Making stuff from small spaces has definitely been a constant in my life (as have messy desks) - as a kid, it was hot glue, electronics and homemade fireworks from the desk in my bedroom!
There are so few videos on workshops in tiny apartments. I wish there were more of them. Your workshop is an inspiration. About 20 years ago I manufactured and sold underwater video camera housings from six-inch PVC pipe in a small one-bedroom apartment on Miami Beach. I would cut the 20-foot sections at the plumbing supply warehouse, drive to my sister's house, cut them into smaller sections, and take them home to my apartment. I had a Toyota Corolla that the back seat folded down, allowing me to carry the pipe. Where I live now I still make stuff in my apartment on my balcony. There are landscapers that come twice a month so if I need to work with any power tools I just schedule my activity with their lawn maintenance equipment noises. Also, we frequently have thunderstorms that roll through here in South Florida which makes for a perfect time to use my router. I have a very large drill press in my apartment covered with a green piece of plastic cloth which is the same color as the lazy boy chair in front of it. Nobody knows it is there but me. The most important tip is the one you gave which is to suit your activities to your space. I have found I don't enjoy making a lot of sawdust in my apartment. That means I have had to change the size and type of projects. Storage is still a big issue as is not wanting to let go of scraps. 20% of my apartment is filled with things I want to turn into a project, is a project in process, or something I know I will regret throwing out. Your videos and creations are very well done. I'm happy to subscribe.
was looking up apartment woodworking, came across your video and seeing the roll of leather sticking out, just like the one in my room made me feel very nice to know that there's others out there with limited space
We're super excited, the new place is gonna be a gamechanger. There are some really cool/beautiful leathercraft organizers out there, could be a great woodworking project!
Great space Morley. I tell my wife all the time if my shop was a little larger, I'd probably be a mechanic. And if it were a little smaller, I'd probably be a leather worker. Can't wait to see as your space changes if your interest change.
Thank you. This motivated me to get started setting up in a corner in my living room, and I don’t have a partner or room mate to have to run things by.
Thanks for sharing this, it looks great and your work looks amazing. There aren't enough videos showing real compact workspaces, I work out of an apartment as well, and I'm always looking to see how others cope with the constant struggle for space.
Congrats on the brand new upcoming space! It'll open up lots of new possibilities and perspectives. This was a great "shop tour". I've never thought of doing one, but this one was tastefully done and has me thinking...
Thanks, John, I’m excited for the change! I’d love to see a deep dive into your shop. As a fellow small-workshopper, I’m curious how you use your space!
hahahah absolutely awesome!!! I also have my workshop in my livingroom and while it's not ideal... it works. Great to see your story and good luck with those projects. They are looking great! greetings from Rotterdam.
Really nice inspiration! My roommate moved in with his boyfriend, so now I have a whole extra room to turn into a workshop! With rabbits instead of a cat, tho
Thanks for sharing this Morley. You've deeply inspired me to want to start making things. I have a bunch of tools from when I worked years in construction, but now I'm going to college living in a small apartment. I miss building things and would like to get into small projects like this, but not sure where to begin or what to make. Perhaps I could start off with something simple and affordable. Could you give me any suggestions? I'm curious how you got started too!
I’m so glad this inspired you! Find a project that you REALLY want to make and start with that. With woodworking, big things are easier to make than small things.
This is a great video, great sound treatment although I think that may be a natural positive side effect of your hobbies to deaden echo which is awesome. I have subscribed and will share your work!
I enjoyed your vlog and your energy in it, especially that I've just started setting up my home studio/lab which is very exciting lol I'm planning a Robotics/VR corner there too :) I guess it is time to work on some new interesting stuff! Congrats on the move!
Thanks for the tour! I’m trying to get myself decluttered and organized right now but all I could think was “Wait, what am I actually supposed to do with all this stuff?” I’ve wanted to get a nice shelf unit for storage but I’ve never had an experience with a proper wood shelf; I’ve had cheap Target MDF shelves and you could probably blow them over, much less store actual books or anything with some heft to it. How has that IKEA unit worked out for you? I like some of their offerings but I’m super jaded about ordering furniture without knowing how structurally sound it is.
Thanks! It’s been fine, I got it for super cheap on Facebook marketplace (like most of my furniture haha). I need to make a new tour with my current space!
Cutting wood in my apartment can be a pain with all the vacuuming that follows. Noise not so much, as my "workshop" aka sunroom /eating area sits below the laundry and furnace room of the apartment upstairs plus I have a huge rooftop tbh I think it creates more noise cutting out there. What I really need to do is integrate a good sturdy workbench, and make the room work better and that's how I ended up here from a search. what's kind of ironic is I live on St Clair West, maybe TH-cam searches by topic and geotag ?
Great tips Morley! I think you would enjoy other non power tools for woodworking (like hand planes and chisels) as they don't create dust either. I'm case you ever want to expand your woodworking ☺️
Thanks, Grant! For sure, I could definitely see myself going down that rabbit hole soon. Especially in the next place, where I’ll be able to contain the chips a little better!
Her preferred spots are on my chair (especially when I need to sit on the workbench), IN the couch (not a typo), on her cat tree or in a box! (Her cave, as we like to call it)

The move will be exciting! Im hoping wifey enjoys the leather work. I'll then have to build her a few of these storage ideas. Good luck!

This is just great. Absolutely great.
Thank you! I need to make an updated one with my new tiny apartment workshop

Thanks, Dean! Things will definitely change when we move - who knows how! It’s amazing how much our physical space influences our work.
Thank you. This motivated me to get started setting up in a corner in my living room, and I don’t have a partner or room mate to have to run things by.
Awesome!
awesome to get some inspiration from your video, we just move into an apartment, and planning to build a workshop corner inside the our unit.

Thank you so much! I need to make an updated video about my new tiny apartment workshop :)
im on a 3rd floor with concrete walls between neighbours... im excited.. subbed
Thanks for the tour, great to see how you get so much done!
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed!
I make it work in a 340 s/f RV. Nice to see you have the same can-do attitude where you live
Whaaat that’s awesome! Thanks 😊

Nice, thanks for showing 👍
Love the video! Great use of space MAK! Love seeing my sticker!!!
Thanks! I love your sticker - what's the story behind the boat?

Thanks for watching! I’ve never been to the Netherlands but I hope to travel there someday 😊
@@MorleyKert Yes you should. It's a great country for entrepreneurial brains :)
Felt like you were saying hello to me haha, thanks for the video!
…I saw that halo health pack. 😏 I see you are also a person of culture. Well played.
Thank you! I have a video on making that as well 😊

You’re right - a tiny shop does have the advantage of minimal echo!

Thanks, Assem! That’s awesome (pardon the pun), looking forward to seeing your future projects!
I want more of her in the videos!
Penny or Eden?

My apartment is that root plus a toilet/shower 2×3 m large
I think i will try this and see if one cannot have fun hobbies in such a small space
😅😅😅😅😅
Trying to figure out my small closet setup.

Where do you store the Penny when not in use? 🤔😂

Is this workspace used for production, making stock to sell?

Very nice but it's a craft corner not a work shop
🤷♂️ potato potato!
you have really good edits and stuff but i dont know why you have only 700 viewers thats kinda sad
Thank you! Well I appreciate you as one of my 700 viewers :)
you have a wonderful girlfriend, not every body accept the mess we make in a room when working on a project (especially wood working)
kindred spirits...
