      Yeah I completely agree, the olive green trucks are cool, and the chocolate brown colored roofs too!

    MTH Premier Line passenger coaches have the best value in my opinion not only for the inclusion of figures but overall durability. I have a set of 4 20th Century Limited heavyweights from Lionel and they all had truck problems.

      Firehawk1218 thank you Darren! I really liked this set but it had to go to make room for a bigger toy in the garage. Lol

      shnimmuc thank you! It’s a very nice example of a detailed engine. The gold wheels and all the extra stripes and colors really make this set special.

    Very nice train set Nick. The engine has a lot of detail and sounds great. The passenger cars are a nice size and have passengers. MTH at their best.

    your scenery is fantastic! Have you considered doing an overview video on how you made the different rock formations and the pond? Products used, molds or hand sculpted? Really top notch; thanks so much for sharing!

      John Ebert hi John, thanks for the nice compliments! Yes, I am definitely going to make how to videos in the future. I’m just so busy with my jobs and especially my building flats business that I haven’t had time to do more videos like that. But keep an eye out for the future, I do plan on it! Thanks!

    K4 Metropolitan set is very nice! MTH did a good job on the set. It seems like Lionel has cheapened on the details on their 21 inch passenger cars. No passengers, blah interiors and not even lighted drumheads. Maybe they should go back to using Silhouettes...shhh, I better not give them any ideas!

    • @PghTrainFanatic

      kstrains thanks for the nice comments buddy! This mth set is very nice, and yeah no don’t give Lionel any bad ideas. Jeez! Lol

    Beautiful set. I must ask, though, what type of valve gear does the locomotive have? For some reason I keep thinking it’s Caprotti, but I don’t think any of the K4s were fitted with that.

    • @PghTrainFanatic
      @PghTrainFanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure, I’m not the most mechanically knowable train collector. Maybe someone else can chime in? or google?

    • @jamesmccann1097
      @jamesmccann1097 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I checked a couple of sources and it turns out that the caprotti valve gear was only applied to the K 5 and Pennsy wasn't really impressed with it. I knew that walschaerts valve gear was pretty much the standard on most Pennsy locomotives. Pennsy did try several versions of the Franklin poppet valves and while they did enhance the performance of the test engines they were never applied to the fleet however they were applied to the T 1. Thanks for the video Nick while I like the K 4 overall I thought the prewar version was the sharpest looking of the two I only wish they had a more accurate Pennsy passenger whistle. Two great sources are Many faces of the Pennsy K 4 and Pennsy power both are out of print but easly found on eBay.
