    If you want loud you can get the "Matt Farah" track spec version of the exhaust, skips the rear muffler.

    I love my 2016 RS but the car stutters and has massive power loss when cold. Once warm it's fine (still doesn't feel as fast as my modded ST). Ford has looked at it a few times and says nothing is wrong but this doesn't seem right. Any ideas?

    • @KeuzySC
      @KeuzySC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i cant be the first one to tell you this, but youre not supposed to push the car hard when its cold. at least hard enough to notice power loss.

    Who would pay $1200 to make their RS quieter than stock lol.

    • @numinous4789
      @numinous4789 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      It's not about volume; it's about flow. Ricers are all about looks/sound; tuners and legit car enthusiasts are about performance.

    • @acb7748
      @acb7748 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Numinous So a "car enthusiast" can't like a louder exhaust or have their car look good? I just learned something new today.

    • @numinous4789
      @numinous4789 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Cryptic Loud for the sake of loud isn't an enthusiast. It's a ricer. Loud for the sake of performance isn't rice, it's being a tuner and/or enthusiast. Form follows function for true car enthusiasts. Ricers are all about show and sound. That's why you have 100hp Civics buzzing around that sound like loud, angry buzzsaws that are slooooowwwww (or other car types too, for that matter).

    • @acb7748
      @acb7748 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Numinous You win for having the dumbest comments of the day. So an "enthusiast" can't have a loud exhaust just because he wants one? But then if a "ricer" wants something that will give a little more performance to his 100hp civic that's slammed so low he cant get over a leaf he is an "enthusiast" now?

    • @numinous4789
      @numinous4789 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cryptic Outliers always exist. And, truth be told, every true tuner has a little inner-ricer. But if the point is ALL about sound, that's clear-cut: ricer. Period. Not performance-oriented at all; all about being conspicuous and attention-getting. "Hey!!! Look at me!!!!!" Just like the guy blasting his 5000-watt system at the redlight with his windows down. Same mentality.
      My Speed makes ~440 at the crank and I still run a muffler. Guess why? It's my daily driver. And it's not too quiet, by any stretch - I definitely love how it has aggressive growl when I step on it - but it still doesn't drone, and it's most certainly not obnoxious. Performance >>> looks/sounds.

    Should have demoed the stock system with the fake sound disabled. Outside the car the stock system sounded pretty good. Nice system!! (MagnaFlow) Is there a kit that just eliminates the valve for the dual mode system? Then the system would just be in "loud" mode only. Great to see such a simple delete solution for the "enhanced" sound through the sound system!!

    Hey bill, so seriously, how much better is the RS than the ST? I have a 2015 st. There's an RS for sale near me for 45k. Is it really 15k more car than the ST I currently have?

    • @DonnieB519
      @DonnieB519 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I went from a 2014 ST to a 2015 Mustang GT to a 2016 RS. I don't know about $15k worth of difference but I couldn't be happier where I ended up. I have yet to see another RS on the streets. I kinda like the exclusivity as well.

    • @numinous4789
      @numinous4789 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing you've never experienced the joy of AWD? The drivetrain differences alone are worth $10k. The performance potential in terms of tunability before needing to tear open the engine and re-build it with forged internals is a lot higher on the RS too. That's easily worth the other $5k.
      For comparison's sake, I have a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3. New, you could get them in the ~$23k range, if you knew how to negotiate. That's about $10k (at least) under STIs and EVOs. So I got the Speed 3, dropped a few thousand in it fully bolting/upgrading the turbo/running an ethanol mix (and WMI too, just for extra safety), and I'm @ 385/380 at the wheels in good weather (stock Speed 3s put down ~230/255 or so at the wheels). So for well under $30k, I have a car that annihilates STIs and EVOs in a major way for way less money.
      Would AWD be nice? Absolutely. But is it important enough to me that I'd rather pay much more for that than for a Speed 3 that'll pull 98% of the cars I see on the road? Not to me. And Speed 3s are actually very competitive in tracking events too, despite AWD. Mazdaspeed was very serious about it being a driver's car when they designed it.

      @Ksquared007 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering the same thing I own a 2016 ST. Then I started looking into the depreciation on the ST. I have lost so much money on it already any notion of trading it in for a RS went out the window LOL. Putting that aside I say just spend 3k on bolt-ons and it will be every bit as fast as the RS from a roll. Besides it would be really tough for me to pay 15 K more for a car that has the same interior.

    • @lyianx
      @lyianx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Untrue. Ive seen videos of others who have noted using breaks to control torque isnt the best way to do it. Rather ignorant saying 'im the only one on the planet' as you cannot know that. Also, im stating my opinion about the car, no need to get butt hurt over it.

    • @851995STARGATE
      @851995STARGATE 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously he's right thought, brake vectoring is the best bang for the buck method to do it, especially with the diff they used.

    • @lyianx
      @lyianx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bang for the buck for the manufacture, but not the owner. Brake Vectoring = more maintenance time and money spent on the car.
      Admittedly, the times i have heard/seen torque vectoring described as a feature, id forgotten what car that were talking about at the time.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember right, the RS uses brakes to redirect torque in the front, and actual mechanical differential means to redirect it in the rear. Am I right?

  • @numinous4789
    @numinous4789 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dang, no UEL sound, just like the ST? I know EL is better for spool, but that's a non-issue on my modded Speed 3. I can spool far earlier that I want to anyways, choosing to stay out of boost under 3k rpms. And my Speed sounds sooooooo much better with its UEL exhaust manifold. RS'es are definitely nice cars, though. I hate the fact that Ford would pipe-in fake exhaust sound on a car of this caliber. Same foolishness as the symposer on the ST. Glad my Speed doesn't have any of that fake stuff; that's one of the very definitions of "rice": just for looks and/or sound rather than for an actual performance boost.

    The stock exhaust is loud Bill wtf are you talking about, I think stock sounds excellent like a rally car with this crappy exhaust you put on you just ruined a great stainless stock sports system that ford provides for you already, ps it sounded like it went a few notes quieter also lol. My comments are legitimate here because I also own an RS and have always said I won't change the exhaust the only thing I will consider is a tune and even with that I'm unsure because the car is jus so good stock, RS has been around since the 70's when ford adds an RS badge it's not just a badge it's a very special vehicle I've owned several rs's in my time and know the hype and love it

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. With the speakers turned off the stock exhaust is much quieter than the Magnaflow. Either way I would not consider the Magnaflows 409 SS construction crappy.
