I have not had any alcohol in 20 years (and even before that I was not a big drinker) because I just think it's bad. With food I am a bit more "versatile", like recently I was on a trip and at a really nice place and they served me food, among which they had some slices of raw squid. Looking at it flipped my stomach already, but they were so proud of their local food and so happy to show it for me, that I just shoved it in and ate it. It was worse than I imagined and I did imagine it would suck. 😂 So for me, if someone ordered some platters from a caterer or so, I will cherry pick, but if people went through trouble of preparing something for me, I will always eat it, no matter what, for me politeness always trumps all other ideals or preferences. Alcohol I always refuse, because there is less "personal trouble" like cooking behind it. So unless someone opens some fancy wine bottle extra for me without asking (assume that will never happen lol), I will refuse.

I like it! I think that's a generally pretty good way to go about it.

I always thought "can't" was an attempt to assuage non-vegans' guilt, essentially telling them "there is some external factor preventing me from eating flesh" instead of demanding everyone confront the reality of their choices. I always say "I don't eat that."

      That's a good one too.

Nice video, gave me something interesting to think about. I will admit tho, half of the reason I clicked on this video was because I thought you were Giorgio Chiellini

Anyone who is choosing a non traditional food path that doesn’t include sugar or processed foods will have to refuse food. I just do it politely. Refusing food is fine and should be respected.

We evolved from the billions of persons who lived the carnivore diet over the last 2 million years who did not worry about fiber or fruits or wheat or corn. They needed high quality food within 3-5 days or their fat stores would diminish to the point of weakness and animal food was the only way to provide that instant energy (fat) and sustenance (protein and flesh nutrients). We stopped eating mostly meat about 25,000 years ago when we had driven to extinction those animals that caused us to thrive. It was all downhill after that. I will stick with 90% carnivore. How we make plant food production and animal food production more humane must be an effort that does not harm us like veganism while at the same time improves the lot of all animals involved. The answer is not found in veganism.

Does what you eat reflect being a better person? That seems like a somewhat relative statement to me. Not denying vegans feel like they’re doing good by what they eat, to be clear. I can sympathize but I’m also curious what the moral aspect of the value of an animal is. Also to clarify…I am not pro animal abuse, I’m just not sure if it’s worth paying more money and devoting brain space to meticulously following a code of oral ethics for.

I don't look at myself as better than meat eaters because I'm vegan, but I do look at myself as being better than I was when I was a meat eater.
I don't find it is any more money or brain space to not eat meat or dairy. I would be a healthy meat eater if I ate meat + I don't think my diet would be all that much different honestly, I would just have something with chicken instead of tofu at the Chinese restaurant, for example.
In my opinion the moral aspect of the animal is that I don't think it's necessarily right or moral to spend the vast resources on raising a creature through a short life of use abuse mutilation and slaughter for a 20-minute meal. I grew up on a dairy farm And saw all of it firsthand.
I appreciate your comments and thoughts 🙂

I say this too. It's important to acknowledge the privilege in the choice (aka the difference between 'I can't' and 'I don't' 👍

Indeed! It's a mentality I tried to take into other things as well. It's not that I have to go run, it's that I get to go run. You know?

Nice job! Years ago, I tried veganism for 8 months. I was even able to easily dunk a basketball during that time
