The kids of death yellow stickers on the 52, usually a sign of the only RM route left in a garage

It wasn't the case with the 52s.......The 6's ran from Willesden as well, and after the 8's was split in half, Willesden gained the western end as the 98s!

Looks like not enough people were utilising the buses with all the car traffic around.
A few cars of note among them.
1:53 Daihatsu Trajet minivan followed by a Datsun Stanza.
2:25 Triumph 2000 estate. We only got the sedan in Aust, which were assembled here.
3:39 Toyota Tarago van. Looks to be more luxurious GL trim. Used to be a common sight in Aust.
4:25 Ford Transit just like the unique Aussie ones with 4.1 petrol sixes.
5:30 Morris Marina with a bulky load on it's roof. I knew someone with a pink Aussie coup assembled at the Zetland plant in Sydney with auto trans and the super 1.8 ohc engine.

I never looked at beyond the buses back in the day, the traffic was just the everyday scene. But it's great to look back at it all now......

The corner of Finchley Road and Hendon Way was the stop for Westfield College where my girlfriend of the day was studying. The 113 never seemed to be that busy, and yet it has RMLs. To be clear that spot was never the very busiest for passengers as the 28 was at the start/end of its journey and picked up people down West End Lane and the 13’s Central London passengers would often have got off at Golders Green. The route, and the 113 did get busier on the way down Finchley Road towards Finchley Road station.

@@robertbutlin3708 yet there were plenty of those pesky automobiles.
No trouble filling the roads around there and it was still under LT when services were more generous with less changing required.

@@jamesfrench7299 yes, because the Hendon Way leads to the M1 and the north. Even in the 1980s people outside London (and plenty inside) would not be seen dead on a bus. The car was king from the 1930s onwards - the purpose of traffic engineering was to move vehicles quickly, not to make humane spaces for pedestrians.

Ugh no wonder London had to implement a congestion charge.
Can't believe they'd rather stress away in a 1980s piece of shit than ride limo style in an RM.
Shows how stupid the majority are.

I used to wonder where Mill Hill, Apex Corner was and went for many bus rides on the 113. It is the route I most strongly associate with RMLs.

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus shame no worries. I remember seeing the 172 as a RM when I was a kid.

Looks like the Hendon RML's went to Tottenham after the OPO conversion of the 113.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, they could well have done. Bit like the 207s, when that route went OPO all the RMLs moved on to replace RMs on routes that were to keep crew operation long term....
