    HI GARETH.
    DEBRA HERE FROM SOUTH WALES
MUMBAI is the new name for BOMBAY
    Google says
Why did Bombay change to Mumbai?
When Shiv Sena came into power in Maharashtra in 1995, they wanted to shed the legacy of British colonialism. The party wanted the city's name to reflect the Maratha heritage. Thus officially, Bombay became Mumbai - named after the goddess Mumbadevi, the city's patron deity.

I love that Aldi literally goes out their way to copy already tried and loved products from other companies, then have the absolute balls to name them so similar AND THEN they sell them for a fraction of the price.
Aldi is shop form of 'The guy she told you not to worry about'

What I normally do with pot noodles is gently squeeze the pot before opening, that way the water goes straight through and you get your desired amount of water with out faffing about. Little tip 😂

    Hi Gareth,
I just want to say I appreciate your review on these. As someone who eats to many regular Pot Noodle Bombay Badboys, (Wayyy to many, Eating one at the time of writing this comment) Im quite excited to give these a try myself as someone who regular shops at Aldi it still baffles me how they dont get in trouble for copyright infringement, Would love to see a comparison with the name brand!

I prefer my Pot Noodles claggy too, and I can suggest one little improvement to your technique. You are correct in not pouring water all the way to the fill-line and in topping up gradually. But one thing I think helps achieve more clag is to do this: pour about the amount of water you did with your first splash, wait about 30s-1minute, and then pick up the pot with all your fingers and thumb holding the top of the rim. Then swirl the Pot Noodle around in small quick, 360 -degree rotations both clockwise and anticlockwise. This helps get the water down to the bottom of the pot without having to manually break up the noodles. Repeat the process again as necessary with small increments of water. You will find that the swirling produces an increasingly rude-sounding noise, which indicates thorough hydration of the noodles. There's a feel element to it, but if you do that and don't put in any more water than about 1.5cm below the fill line in total into the pot, you should end up with properly thick and saucy noodles which have absorbed all the powder but produced zero soup. Honest to god: this method is something I've fine-tuned over a great many years of experience.

Very pleased for you Gareth with the increase in Subscribers - It's totally deserved, son.
We're living through tough times where money, and thus food, are a thing a great many in this poor old country of ours are struggling with.
Your reviews are great both for those trying to plan a week's meals for themselves or their families, and for those whose budget can stretch to a treat like a Takeaway (or indeed a sin, like the Noodle Pot of Temptation)...
You're a naturally funny man, with that self-deprecating humour that is so singularly Northern, and your sheer honesty in reviewing these foodstuffs is so welcome in this time when we can't even believe everything we hear or see on the News.
You're "genuine", and I thinks that's why your Subscriber-count is climbing.
More power to your elbow, young fella!
Look forward to the next one.
Stay safe, you and yours. :)
(Oh, and here's an expression I've happily embraced from our cousins in the Americas "Thank you for your Service")

It was always Mumbai, India. Then the British changed it to Bombay. Until India changed it back to Mumbai in 1995.

    • @eadweard.
      @eadweard. ปีที่แล้ว

Commonly believed, but not actually true. The name Bombay pre-dates British rule, coming from (probably) from the Portuguese. Prior to that it's had several names, none of which were Mumbai.
The change to Mumbai was a successful campaign by a fairly unpleasant Hindu nationalist party.

Hi Gaz, I know where you’re coming from!…..take your time filling and nice and claggy - perfect!…… you’re also right on the timings…..I made us both a cellotape and kitchen paper (to keep the pot noodle hot) wrap! Just so I can leave them sitting as long as possible without getting cold, we like the soft noodles and hate the hard peas too!…..thanks for the review x❤x

My best post gig sandwich (after playing 2 hours and the long drive home) is a Pot Noodle sandwich. Loads of butter dripping back into the pot 😛
I got talking to an ex Hawkwind roadie one night. His was a fish finger and marmalade sandwich.
Something new to try, Gareth? 🤢

I remember the Bombay Bad Boy review It was me who suggested adding the peanut butter to it to make it kind of satay Judging by your review of this one I don’t think it’s worth pimping it But I agree claggy is best 😊
Great reviews as always Gareth 🙏
