0:46 The price differential here - £1.60 / £3.20 - shows the degree to which Tesco is practically forcing shoppers to sign away their privacy to a Clubcard. You can be sure that Tesco is still making a profit at the Clubcard price. Let's say Tesco makes 20p clear profit. So when it charges customers _another_ £1.60 when they don't have a Clubcard, that is ALL profit! All £1.60 of it. I refuse to be scammed like this and rarely shop at Tesco.
Aldi and Lidl will be negotiating a similar product for a much lower price. It would not surprise me if either discounter contacts the factory in the Netherlands and cuts a deal to make them with a slightly different name.
@iqunknown786 I don't shop there. It IS a scam. Tesco does not need to rip off customers for not buying into its spy programme. Tesco only wants your details to sell on to myriad companies for even more profit. A responsible company like Aldi or ASDA sees no need for a "membership" card like this. They only want to present low prices, which they do far better than Tesco anyway. Tesco is expensive, even with the clubcard.
You are wrong. The manufacturer is funding the discount to promote their new product. Tesco will get the same margin whatever price they sell at. You are not being scammed. Do you think Tesco is interested in what you personally are buying out of the millions of customers they have each day so don't worry about your privacy.
@UNICORN69HO I just shop elsewhere and save myself all that hassle. The only time I shop at Tesco is when they sell something that is not covered by a Clubcard "offer" (i.e. scam) like milk or bread. If everyone boycotted Tesco, they'd soon lower their regular prices, i.e. the exorbitant ones.
