    No they didn't change the colours of the crisp packets. You changed brands. The Blue Salt and Vinegar, Green Cheese and Onion Crisps were Golden Wonder, and they were the leading brand in the 60s and 70's. Walkers have always been Green for Salt and Vinegar,, Blue for Cheese and Onion and have taken over as the leading brand.

      @MichaelCampin direct from the Walkers web site - "We’re often asked this! Our Salt & Vinegar and Cheese & Onion flavour crisps packs have always been the colours they are today. Contrary to popular belief, we’ve never swapped the colours around, not even temporarily. We’ve no plans to change these designs, as they’re signature to our brand."

    0:46 The price differential here - £1.60 / £3.20 - shows the degree to which Tesco is practically forcing shoppers to sign away their privacy to a Clubcard. You can be sure that Tesco is still making a profit at the Clubcard price. Let's say Tesco makes 20p clear profit. So when it charges customers _another_ £1.60 when they don't have a Clubcard, that is ALL profit! All £1.60 of it. I refuse to be scammed like this and rarely shop at Tesco.

    • @SuperLittleTyke
      @SuperLittleTyke 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Aldi and Lidl will be negotiating a similar product for a much lower price. It would not surprise me if either discounter contacts the factory in the Netherlands and cuts a deal to make them with a slightly different name.

    • @SuperLittleTyke
      @SuperLittleTyke 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @iqunknown786 I don't shop there. It IS a scam. Tesco does not need to rip off customers for not buying into its spy programme. Tesco only wants your details to sell on to myriad companies for even more profit. A responsible company like Aldi or ASDA sees no need for a "membership" card like this. They only want to present low prices, which they do far better than Tesco anyway. Tesco is expensive, even with the clubcard.

    • @ellcor
      @ellcor 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      You are wrong. The manufacturer is funding the discount to promote their new product. Tesco will get the same margin whatever price they sell at. You are not being scammed. Do you think Tesco is interested in what you personally are buying out of the millions of customers they have each day so don't worry about your privacy.

    • @SuperLittleTyke
      @SuperLittleTyke 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @UNICORN69HO I just shop elsewhere and save myself all that hassle. The only time I shop at Tesco is when they sell something that is not covered by a Clubcard "offer" (i.e. scam) like milk or bread. If everyone boycotted Tesco, they'd soon lower their regular prices, i.e. the exorbitant ones.

      Walkers have always used the opposite colours to everyone else for C'n'O and S'n'V. Rather than admit their mistake they seem to be driving every other crisp manufacturer out of business in an attempt to become the de-facto standard. Once they finish with crisp producers they'll no doubt have to go for all the other snacks (Pringles, Chipsticks, Fish'n'chips, etc)

    Hiya Gareth, there's about 365 recipes for potatoes. Many of them are just tweeked and given a different name, but still quite a lot to choose between. And now it's down to the shape of the bloomin thing. These reminded me of "Frazzles" the bacon flavoured corn snacks. Think they were made by Walkers, about 30/35 years ago. On looks & sound theses gonna go well with most snacky type of meals. Burgers, bangers, fry ups. Even fish. The only problem I can see. Like a certain " tube of crisps" Once you pop, you just can't stop 😊😊. Not everyday, but for a change from chips. A very good informative video and useful addition to the freezer list. I have seen this brand before in I believe it was Aldi but it was not a potato product. It was Lentil crisps and with the prominent style of branding/ labelling used my first belief was that they were a Lamb flavoured crisp. It was only after a much closer examination of the ingredients and a re-reading of the entire package that I learned that they were actually a total misrepresentation of what they appeared to be, which at the price that they were being sold for to me was a complete ripoff and I threw the bag back onto the display. I am left with a feeling of distrust for the entire brand and I have learnt to be cautious about what products I pick up in the shop. It was a lesson for me to read food labels much closer!

    Golden Wonder and Smiths i am sure had blue packaging for salt n vinegar crisps. Don't recall Walkers doing it that way and there were moans n groans they did not follow the others and went by their own colourings

    Hi Gareth, I nearly made myself look like a real prat. I was going say why not put some mint sauce on them, it's vinegary and would go well with the lamb flavour! You kept on going on about the salt and pepper taste, but didn't mention the main flavour. Thhen the truth dawned, the Lamb on the packet was not the flavour, it was part of the brand name, Doh. Anyway, they look ok and the fats etc.. don't actually look too bad for this kind of food. I'll pay more attention next time. ❤👍

    They are definitely new. wasn't on there a few weeks ago when I looked, but 50% off already? I've got the curly fries in my online basket ready to order for after the weekend. I'm glad they are not horrible; the only alternative is the Tesco brand ones. Those ones are okay, but you have to get the cooking just right: soggy if not enough and rock hard if too much. probably would of removed them if you pulled a face lol

    Walkers and Smiths were market leading rivals. Walkers then bought Smiths and slowly got rid of the brand.
    Smiths were revived about 5 years ago as a nostalgia move.
    I always preferred Smiths to Walkers back in the 80's along with KP, Tudor and Bensons!
    Worst were economy brands No Frills or Family Choice. Seabrook was a treat as it tended to be just loose packs in corner shops or petrol stations.

    Where you see on pets cut along dotted line, dont all you need to do is cut a hallow half circle in the middle , doing this will give you essentially 2x tie handles instead of placing an open bag back in freezer

    I really enjoy your vids and you are one of the few people on TH-cam l would like to know personally but sometimes I wish you would compare a bought product with something made from scratch since at the moment this gives the impression heating up a factory product is the only way to eat. We know prepared products contain a lot of fat, salt and sugar. Or at least sometimes suggest and cook some veg with these prepared meals.

    Super market loyalty cards are all a rip off designed to harvest information about your shopping habits. They are still making a profit at “club card” prices and absolutely raking it in at the vastly inflated “normal “ prices. Great video by the way.

      @ I’m not really complaining about the surveillance aspect of it - that’s a fact of modern life - it’s the hugely inflated price differential between loyalty card prices and so called normal prices. It needs investigating. It’s a racket and as all major supermarkets are involved in it, it’s virtually a cartel.
