I have one of these, a 2016 edition, its a very classy looking guitar and those pick ups are awesome.BUT last week I received my Jay Dee Custom Guitars Tony Iommi Custom SG finished in cherry after a 3 year wait. For those that missed out on the Epiphone, don't cry because the Jay Dee Custom guitar is the real deal and they are the luthier that made Tony Iommi's guitars. Their Old Boy pick ups are THE ones Tony uses, you can't get closer to Sabbath than that! But thanks for a nice review of the Epiphone, it really is a nice piece of kit.
I have 2 of these. The first I bought in 2015 has the strap button where it normally goes on an SG. The second one I bought is stamped 2016 and has strap button on the horn. The 2016 also has a slimmer neck, is lighter and the control knobs are a little raised from the body, where as they are flush to the body on the 2015. They also both have slightly different tones. I understood they were only going to make 2015 of these in 2015. My opinion is they made the 2015 of them more custom and then made them more like a regular G-400? Just a theory. They are still both great guitars, and both have the recessed neck heel. I have my original one (which I will keep forever) tuned to C# and the 2016 to Eb for the 'Heaven and Hell' stuff. Great video!!

I had these pickups for a while but they were to "bassy" or heavy for me. They didn't have that punchy snarl I was expecting from his early albums. Supposedly you can split them according to the Gibson manual. I should've tried that when I had them.They're good pickups if you like his 80's work as humbuckers. I would just stick to p90's for his early stuff. I have a pair of jaydee pickups as well that I need to install on another guitar. Great vid!
Thanks! I used a Line 6 Helix. here's the signal path... Low cut EQ set to 120hz - treble booster-Line 6 Doom amp simulation--ML Sound Lab 70's collection IR-room reverb.
@@sabbathcross I believe this model is no longer produced. The only issue with the guitar is that the tuners have a little "slop" in them.... they're definitely cheap tuners. They are not so bad that they need replacing IMO, as they hold tuning fine.
@@roccocrocco817 i really hope they still are for sale i cannot find one in Europe and i really hope i can find one atleast in the future since i am a sabbath fanatic i listened to all of the 19 studio albums including the Devil You know and THE END EP i much preffer Iommi’s 80’s guitar sound thats why this humbucker equipped guitar would be perfect for me
I don't believe these are the gibson iommi custom shop pickups but Chinese copies. I'm certain the one I bought was different underneath with a gibson trademark on a metal plate. Sounds the same anyway and you can't buy the original pickups anymore.
As a christian I see the cross as a positive thing for the unsaved . The cross will always let you known Jesus died for you , you will always relate the cross to JESUS every time . Not knowing the lord may leaded to a person saying why did he die for me. So what looks negative can be a positive and thats one up on the on the enemy.

The Jay Dee custom is probably way more money. You can't beat this guitar for the price

From your description it sounds like the 2016 is more custom with the placement of the strap button and slimmer neck.
Epiphone always let me down over the years, but this guitar looks and sounds awesome!!!!

I can't believe they charged extra for a case. I've never paid extra for a case in my life, and I'm 41*.

Yes they are still in production, but you may have a hard time finding one right now due to Covid.

Afaik Iommi's puts crosses in a lot of things to drive away evil spirits after an occultist incident he had in the early years of Sabbath.

If you actually listen to the lyrics of Balck Sabbath songs they are very Christian. The reason they started wearing crosses was to ward off evil.

Where did you get that truss rod cover?
The previous owner had it installed on the guitar. I bought a blank one and replaced it to make the guitar more stock.
