      If you love tight bass don't expect from here. Go for Bose. They have the tight and drop bass. For me Yamaha bass is little boomy for me. It's subjective. I own both.

    I have serious issues with frequencies. The mids are too strong. On bluetooth, I get much better audio when pulling down mids compared to leaving eq flat or streaming directly from speaker itself via spotify connect.
    Why is it so difficult to include EQ settings in modern, digital devices?

    • @gautam2Dot
      @gautam2Dot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agreed. They should have provided custom eq which will make sense for all types of people. Sound is a very subjective stuff and not all are going to be happy the presets they had provided. They could have included atleast on the app. For me i felt there's lack of high frequencies ( which is subjective). It's sad that i cannot adjust that.

    • @Wistbacka
      @Wistbacka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gautam2Dot I've gotten my YAS-109 setup quite okay now. Still lacking in vocal clarity, but okay. Got better after the burn-in period and I guess also my ears got a bit more used to it.
      Settings I use for music is Stereo or Music, clear choice on, bass +2, all digital surround effects turned off (music-mode will always add some)
      For movies I don't know yet, because I get my TV tomorrow! 😅🤓
      But it's still sad about the lack of EQ, because one clearly hears the potential in these speakers.

    • @gautam2Dot
      @gautam2Dot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really great to know. I have 209 it's fine but the fact of the matter is that everyone has different frequency sensitivity that's when the preset is not enough and i don't think it's a big deal to ask for. The low end sound bar has bass and treble control. And not all the recordings are same too. Yes I also do agree with you that most of theses kind of devices, after couple of weeks, we get used to it. 👍🏻

    • @bryanadams555
      @bryanadams555 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gautam2Dot + or - treble should have been an option. I feel the crisp tweeter frequencies are still not there. Not sure if i have completed the proper burnin time.
      I find the sound is only audible only after 40% volume. My Sony tv is audible at just 15% volume.

    Amazing sound bar worked flawlessly out of the box and sound is amazing and the app is a real plus lots of extras way to go Yamaha, 1 year+ now and its a blast makes movie night really enjoyable. I was just at my local Costco Warehouse and spoke with their electronics rep and he told me that the Yamaha Yas-2090 (which is the 209 just the Costco version) is there #1 top seller among sound bars and it has been for quite sometime, not Bose, not Vizio, not Samsung, nor Sonos it must be saying something.

      @@JoeK1974 I strongly disagree sorry I have multiple other soundbars JBL 5.1, LG SL-10YG, my original Vizio, a Kplich, etc and all of them are much harder to set up especially the JBL which is my newest it sounds great (man is it powerful) but every review and I agree with them setting it up via WIFI is a chore and trust me I have Century Link internet and it adds as they are the worst WIFI/Internet service provider in the nation possibly, I have most of the times barely any internet but for some reason or another my Yamaha Yas-209 works flawlessly I even activated Spotify music and Alexa all no problems keep at it or go buy something else there are a bunch of other good choices.

      @@jefferyberg2850 I have tried for hours to get this soundbar to connect to the Sound Bar #yamaha app on both my iPhone and Android phone. It WILL NOT connect. While the sound bar sound may be decent, the wifi electronics just do not work. Additionally, what the other users say is correct, if you pause a show for a few minutes, the device turns itself off... why? If it is plugged in why power down so quickly? So, decent sound, terrible interface. That is my experience. I wish I bought a different product.

      @@jefferyberg2850 So I finally figured it out.... the soundbar has a weak wifi receiver. I moved the soundbar right next to my wifi wireless router and it updated. When I moved it back to the other room, it stopped connecting again. In that same room is my Fire TV receiver which can stream HD without a problem. So, I deduce that the problem is a weak wifi receiver in the yamaha sound bar.

      @@JoeK1974 Thanks for the update once again I am sorry your having difficulties my sound bar is downstairs and my router is upstairs like 25 feet away and I have not had a problem with it since it arrived I got lucky I guess, this sound bar is the easiest of the 3 bars I own my big (2019) LG SL10YG and my (2019)JBL 5.1 both time consuming and much more difficult to set up and update. Yamaha got something right and the app really helps (my JBL 5.1(not with the rear speakers) just has Wi-Fi thru Chromecast which is difficult to get set up and the Smart features are next to impossible to use, sounds great and Chromecast is nice but difficult to update and use the advanced features. One of these days sound bar manufactures will get it right and there bars will do exactly what there supposed to do with no flaws in setting up and using. Fingers crossed.

  • @mikewillis780

    I've had this soundbar for a few months and despise it. It's possibly the worst piece of technology I've purchased in a decade or more. Alexa started working on it and it finally connected to my Firestick so I could use one remote... then it all quite after a few days.
    Here's my original review on Amazon...
    ----
    UPDATE #3: I've had it with this piece of @#$%!! It's going back on Monday!
    Soundbar turns itself off after a few minutes... So, you pause a movie to take a phone call and come back a few minutes later. You press PLAY and there is no sound. Now your TV is on and your soundbar is off. Power button (which controls both) now turns my TV off and my soundbar on. You can imagine the next few minutes of frustration... Find the other remote, get them both turned on, and them go back to find where you were in the movie. I HATE THIS SOUNDBAR!
    ---
    UPDATE #2: After using this for about two weeks, I'm taking it back down to a ONE STAR. This thing is plagued with problems and I would NOT recommend it.
    ---
    UPDATE: I got about 75% of this working and I'm much happier now. There was far more setup than I anticipated for a device with Alexa built in.
    ---
    Bought this because of the Consumer Reports Review. I wish I hadn't.
    My old Yamaha receiver connected to Alexa so fast and easy that I don't remember doing it. THIS one, with Alexa built in, managed to disable every smart device in my house. I can no longer do all the easy things that were once seamless. "Alexa, Tune to ___ on Hulu"... NOPE - has no idea what I'm talking about. I'll ask it a question and another device will answer from another room. I can't seem to delete it to start over either... I hate this thing.
