- The Tatami Galaxy is capital A "Art." It's highly stylized and extremely pretentious, but in the very best way. It's one of the most thoughtful anime I've ever seen-here's what we can learn from it.

This is the best Japanese show I've seen. It really is just so focused, and absurd, and funny, and poignant and perfect. It's wonderful. And 13 years later, we were even treated to a wonderful side adventure with the Tatami Time Machine. This series absolutely deserves an English dub.
Oh, and yeah. That ending is so unbelievably perfect, it's the best ending of any show i've seen.

Masaaki Yuasa is personally my favourite anime director and Tatami Galaxy was the anime to prove that to me. From Space Dandy to Devilman Crybaby his works to me has been the most expressive, diverse and beautifully animated. His care for every frame makes his works so much more refreshing to watch after consuming the most recent shounen or isekai as he brings the animation to life in a way that's rarely seen anywhere. It's a shame he never really garners the spotlight because he really deserves it and to be recognised as one of the best creators in animation. ever.

@@WeebJail Haha no worries, If anything I just reccomend watching Yuasa's entire works. Every single one has as much care as he gave Tatami Galaxy.
alright ill definitely add them to my list : D there's only a couple shows airing rn that really peaked my interest so i might have more time to watch older stuff haha
@@WeebJail Yeah it's been really quiet right now in terms of new stuff, of course there's Spy x Family but I've already been caught up with the manga for a long time now so I'm just waiting for the whole series to finish before binging. Hope you find lots to love in Yuasa's work, he has expressed in the past that he fails to understand what audiences want and wishes to but I feel like it just makes him stand out more as a prolific creator. He's undoubtedly my favourite amongst the industry.
yea the only two shows that really peaked my interest are spy x waifu and ya boy kongming, though at least those are both fucking stellar so far. i also been catching up on ascendance of a bookworm which is pretty good and some dude in the comments keeps telling me to watch all of love live lmao
Really appreciated this since often I am not able to put into words why I like a show so much. For me its as perfect as an anime will ever get. It tackles some really deep, existential questions we all go through but in a very rose coloured, hilarious, and outlandish way. A contrast which only the anime medium can pull off. It actually inspires me to write a story myself. Maybe one day...

@@WeebJail There is too, but not fully translated it seems. Not sure my 日本語 skills will stretch that far yet. Also the animation for the sequel will premier on Disney+ for some reason.
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei is my favorite anime, and watch this very well made video just makes me love It much more.

Or the first is season 1 and the second is season 2?
second one is a sequel, i think its only slightly related but havent seen it yet
You can say that, the time machine blues, is the " what if " of the original tatami galaxy, it's not a sequel, it's a spin off
The more you talk about this protagonist, the more it makes not want to put up with his bs ngl. The concept is interesting, but the character itself sounds like a massive walking L.
Also, I would love to see a Date A Live review on this channel. I know I've already mentioned this before, but I just think it would be great for that series to get more attention.
