Those two DIDN’T. The two ACTUAL aeronauts who did this were BOTH men, Henry Coxwell and James Glaisher. There was no woman called “Wren” involved. Amazon have simply wiped the other man from his own story and inserted a woman. It’s an insult to the memory of Henry Coxwell.
Surprisingly enjoyable film which benefited from an excellent script, direction, effects and two wonderful leading performances. I understand the lead protagonist was changed as Felicity Jones character was invented. However, I believe that many such historical aspects were changed to create a more emotional core. After all, it isn't a documentary, but rather a fictional action adventure.
I thought, like The Report, it was a limited cinema release and then mainly released on Amazon for streaming. Does that still qualify as a bomb? I could be wrong though.
Amelia Wren never existed, but Henry Coxwell did. It was 2 men that went up in the balloon, not 1 man and 1 woman. Another example of rewriting history according to a specific ideology (feminism).
While an entertaining movie, it leaves a big black mark over the actual historical male pilot, erasing him from history and replacing him with an amalgam of a historical female pilot who had nothing to do with the flight.
Yes and Eddie Redmayne’s character was in his 50s. I guess the real story wouldn’t have appealed to today’s moviegoers. This didn’t either though as it only made a little over $3 million at box office.
@@audrey3155 Still it pushed the "based on a true story" pretty hard before it was released. There was an amount of blow back for erasing the other historical character to replace him with a mixture loosely based on other characters. Not quite erasing one of the Wright brothers to insert a sister, but equally egregious.
@@DugeHick she's based on a French balloonist so for all anyone cares she happened too. A man and a woman provide better harmony and chemistry than two men. Also, it's fictional in that all those tense moments happened in different ballooning incidents and were all shoved together for this one. It's a loosely based story, it's not factual. They can change things
If those two could reach 37000ft and live then climbing Everest would have been a walk in the park for them.

These two should do more movies together they have such amazing chemistry together!!!!!!!!!!
This movie was really well made though I did almost pass out during it with my crippling fear of heights
dont watch “The Walk” then lol
Aeronauts was a great movie, Amazon should produce more movies like this
Jyn Erso and Newt Scamander
Stephen and Jane Hawking

you're right, it did make my heart race
The storm scene reminds of the storm scene in UP.
Jane and Steven hawking
Newt schamander and Gyn Erso
5 Months late watching this🤗Love ur videos❤️
This is why they switched to unmanned weather balloons
completely untrue to acual history, but great underlying theme : "Can sceince and numbers quantify beauty and love? "
Great movie, I love it!
This movie is really good,
Definitely recommend
I Just wanna go back to the 80s ://
You mean the 1800's
Um this was definitely not the 80s but okay...
One of the biggest box office bombs of 2019
I thought, like The Report, it was a limited cinema release and then mainly released on Amazon for streaming. Does that still qualify as a bomb? I could be wrong though.

Emphasis on the word *movie*. It's not a documentary, and is not going to be wholly factual.

@keegan park wasn't based on real physics either.
Quarantined movie. Low cost budget.
budget of 40 million, was released in 2019
False story, his name is correct. But her....she wasn't even there. There were two men.
it doesn't claim to be factual

@@DugeHick I'd like to think a movie like this doesn't need to claim to be fictional for everyone to know it's fictional

Disrespectful story and you should be ashamed of showing this film.
why?
@@Vito-ew5tf check the historical facts.
Michael Johnson still a good movie tho.
@@MichaelJohnsonAzgard It's still a good movie overall despite the historical accuracy
Imagine if it were two women and they replaced one of the ladies with a male. The firestorm of criticism and vilification would have swept the earth.
