Good video,...I was ready to upgrade from my pelican 120, and was considering a old town sportsman, but you totally sold me on the predator, thanks, happy fishing!
I have the same kayak but I have the minn kota motor instead of pedals. I feel in love with my old town. It’s definitely awesome! I got it a few months ago. The guy barely took it out. He brought it brand new. I’m not sure if the motor floats. I usually don’t use the scupper plugs. It’s been hot. One part of me kinda wish I would have got the peddles. But I just turn the button and go. It’s pretty good to set back and cruise. I live on the beach so that’s a big plus. And I got the filling floor also. I’ve noticed it’s heavy but when I get it in the water it was all worth it 😂.
The latch that holds the prop down is strength tested to break if enough force hits the prop. I have yet to hit anything submerged yet... I hope you didn't jinx me lol
Nice kayak. I'm looking at getting a pedal drive. I like this one I'm just having a hard time justify the additional $1300 expense over the Pescador Pilot.

Just a thought, but you should be able to fit those Plano boxes into the side areas if you raise the plates. All you need to do is purchase some bushings that are thick enough to raise it just enough to get the box in there. The cost of longer screws and the bushings needed to do that should be relatively inexpensive. The only issue I see from that is the fact that the plate would no longer be flush with the rest of the deck.
Sweet man looking at this my self. The plano box that won’t fit take the screws out if the mount and add rubber washers and lift that side up. Thanks for posting
yeah, it's a great boat. already did just that. Thanks for the tip though. I've modified several other things as well and have a few more mods in mind... I'll be posting a 2018 update in the spring.
Good video. I bought my PDL at a Black Friday sale. $420 off. Couldn't resist. Concerning the Plano boxes not fitting, I store mine under the seat. I can get 3 under there depending on size. Put a rubber mat down to help with noise. I started using mine in early April and have been on the water a couple dozen times. I use a yakima rack n roll trailer and a c-tug kayak cart to move it around. It's a beast and I'm 6' 3" 240lbs. Do you car top? My only minor complaint is the flush mount rod holders fill with water so I replaced them with holders that have a cover. I would say the biggest draw back the PDL is transport.
Thanks! Thats a great price! I ended up getting $800 off. That's a great tip for the plano boxes, I keep a larger container under neath for my plastics and bulkier tackle. I transport in the bed of my truck with a bed extender. I agree on the rod holders. It's a minor annoyance, but for this kind of $, they should have thought of that. Great input!
Amazing! When I first received my boat, it was damaged in the shipping. The shipping company declared didn't take responsibility and Old Town sent me a new boat! I can't think of better service than that.
rather than cutting you mounting boards to fit your plano boxes, unscrew the mounting boards and raise them up with a couple blocks and reinstall with longer screws. Won't be flush with the hull but it may work for you without having to cut anything.
I'm 6'6", I was wondering if I would have leg room in this yak. I dont want to spend 3500 dollars on a new hobie. I've heard lot's of good things about old town.
Dillon B replaced replaced it with another pdl... after fishing it for the 2017 season, I wanted to start clean with the rigging and dial it in to what I like from what I’ve learned.
Yankee Tanker Outdoors cool! I have a buddy up here in Michigan who is a FeelFree pro staffer and he tells me all the time he wishes he could switch lol
Great yak. I've had mine for about 5 months and love it. Only downside is propeller is not as weed less as I hoped it to be. Finding that I have to lift and clear it off often in the shallows, but I'm not complaining though 😂
Nice informative somewhat LOL unbiased review :-) To fit the Plano 3600, take a jig saw and a dremel tool and cut out the area that gets in the way, this way you keep the mount panels flush and can easily take in/out and also add a small bungee to secure them.
Good video,...I was ready to upgrade from my pelican 120, and was considering a old town sportsman, but you totally sold me on the predator, thanks, happy fishing!
Glad I could help! I have a sportsman pdl as well, and comfort in the predator or Big Water is far better

@12:03.....Just put spacer blocks under the mount where it attaches to the boat! This will lift the mount and you can fit your box.
What color is your boat? I would like to see Old Town add a tilt feature to the seat since there isn't a hi/low.
The boat in the video is Urban Cammo.
Great video. What happens if the prop hits a submerged object?
The latch that holds the prop down is strength tested to break if enough force hits the prop. I have yet to hit anything submerged yet... I hope you didn't jinx me lol
Good to know. Thanks.
May your prop continue to remain free from submerged objects!
how do you transport it to water since boondox doesn't work well on it
My boondox work fine...
Nice kayak. I'm looking at getting a pedal drive. I like this one I'm just having a hard time justify the additional $1300 expense over the Pescador Pilot.
Old Town Topwater PDL?
Bill's Catch 22 I'm looking for a pedal drive kayak.
Bill's Catch 22 I misread your comment. I really like the width but honestly if I was going to spend 2k I would buy the Hobie Compass.

Put the box under your seat dude
thats where i keep my plastics bin
I thought u was gonna go with the pelican peddle since u liked the 120
I did enjoy my catch 120, but am not a fan of the pedal system. Love my Old Towns now.
Where can I get those scupper plugs?
amzn.to/3G8vq10
How did you modify the lowrance scupper kit to fit the humminbird transducer? I’m not paying 70$ for old towns version
I just heated it with a heat gun and bent it, then ran a zip tie through. I now have it mounted to the back though.
How do you like is now so far in?
Thanks for the video
What year was that predator PDL?
Are you in Michigan? I big a used predator pdl and it has that front sticker on it. I think I bought your old boat. 😂
I just seen more stickers that match mine. I 100% bought your old kayak. Haha
Most kayak weight capacity ratings are not true. Do u think this one is true to its rating? Im a bigger guy and need one stable enough to pedal
Do you still like the Predator PDL?
very much so

Not a bad idea at all. I'll have to see how much it protrudes above the gunnels. Thanks!

Bountiful sir
You could probably put spacers under the plates for your gear tracks so you can use the Plano boxes
Great predator demo vid mate, thanks

Wow $800 off. And I thought I got a deal. Oh mine did include a Orion 25 quart cooler that goes for $369. I would rather had the $369 off.
Dick Clase it's an accomplishment finding any deal on a good kayak
Thanks for the video. I’m looking to purchase a PDL in the very near future.
Thanks for checking it out. I truly love the boat, good luck!
Nice yak! I might have to steal that painted front idea!
Thats It, We're Goin Fishin! Thanks! You wouldn't be the first... besides, I didn't start the trend lol
How's their customers service?
Amazing! When I first received my boat, it was damaged in the shipping. The shipping company declared didn't take responsibility and Old Town sent me a new boat! I can't think of better service than that.
Outstanding video I'm excited to get one
Greg Bowen enjoy it!
Awesome kayak! I want one, but im thinking about some sea fishing and im about 250 lbs,so not sure how low in the water i will sit ..
How big are you? I’m 6’3” 260lb. I was wondering about the stability of your yak. Do you have any issues with standing?
I don't like standing in any kayak I've come to find out. It's as stable as most.
rather than cutting you mounting boards to fit your plano boxes, unscrew the mounting boards and raise them up with a couple blocks and reinstall with longer screws. Won't be flush with the hull but it may work for you without having to cut anything.
I'm 6'6", I was wondering if I would have leg room in this yak. I dont want to spend 3500 dollars on a new hobie. I've heard lot's of good things about old town.
d81gartica well, I'm 6'2" and my seat position is dead center on the track so I would say there is still considerable room for you.
how many notches is that from max leg room?
4 I believe
where did you get the decal on the bow?
just type "Shark decal" into an amazon search
Bro, Yo Yaks gotts tooffies
I just got the old town predator 13 I love it, made in Maine which is my home state that makes it even better
Braydon Merrill being an American company was indeed a factor in choosing my new yak. Hope you're enjoying your predator as much as I am
3k is a tough pill to swallow
Nick schmitz 3k is still better than most of the pedal competitors plus deals are out there to be had. I paid less than 3
Nice Yak
How did you rig your anchor trolley?
Where did you get the teeth stickers? Mine didn't come with stickers.
amzn.to/2vPEC6b
how come you're selling it now?
Dillon B replaced replaced it with another pdl... after fishing it for the 2017 season, I wanted to start clean with the rigging and dial it in to what I like from what I’ve learned.
Thanks for the vid. What type of gear rails are those?
Good choice! I bought one after trying them all and love it!
WHO MAKES THE FISHING POLE FLOAT THAT YOU HAVE ON YOUR POLES? THANKS
They're by Blakemore. Here's a link amzn.to/2ueUMac

Silverfish _ north woods outlet in Peconing, MI
I'm looking for this kyack in a 12 feet do they have them 12 feet
Old Town pdl in twelve feet
They do, but without pedals. The Old Town Predator MX is 12 feet.
I put 2 3600 Plano boxes in the pouch below the seat and a plastic container full of my plastics below the seat
Good Stuff... I am probably going to seriously look at this yak when I go pedal.
Yankee Tanker Outdoors cool! I have a buddy up here in Michigan who is a FeelFree pro staffer and he tells me all the time he wishes he could switch lol
Nice kayak ,iI have one same ,I bery happy to habe this moqter

My dad and I both went from the catch 120 to the PDL lol.
Walk through starts at 4:40. Make sure to meet my dogs at the end of the video
Good video brother....im a big boy at 330 lbs. How much do you weigh?
Same ballpark
Great yak. I've had mine for about 5 months and love it. Only downside is propeller is not as weed less as I hoped it to be. Finding that I have to lift and clear it off often in the shallows, but I'm not complaining though 😂
That Predator sticker near the front hatch is boss!
Good video brother very well done. Your kayak is awesome!
With peddalsim looking to buy one with peddals the same one as the other one
On that gear plare issue you could just make some spacers to raise them up the 1/2" you need to fit those plano boxes.
And if you reverse those plugs it makes an instant Live Well
good video, very into detail. I'm looking to buy my first kayak, I'm liking the predator XL or PDL
Thanks! Both are great boats, I'm sure you'll enjoy either one.
Wow about 8 fishing rods. Your nickname on the water must be Doc. Oct.
Great ride!....enjoyed the walk thru..Great videos and your wife sounds fun!.. Lol
I enjoyed the video . That was very well done and informative
🤙
flip your bat bag over you will like it
chetyoder bat bag?
battery
chetyoder that is an awesome idea! Thanks!
"Hey old town, my bag is droopy." Lol
Can you safely put a 70 lb. dog in the back?
Old Chicago I guess it would depend on your weight and your dog’s behavior. The space should accommodate him though.
OC - I saw a video where a guy puts his 80lb black lab in the back for waterfowl hunting... dog fit with ease.
Muy buen jajaja exelente
Nice informative somewhat LOL unbiased review :-)

It's just like Dodge fans trying to prove that Dodge is the best Truck. Hobie Hobie and more Hobie. Great video!!
