i love those retro turn signals, out on stalks where somebody might actually see them... this thing needs variable valve timing, even Yamaha 155cc scooters have that over there.
It would be nice for a poster to review the bike based on the people who ride it. From the people I know who bought it are not children, but older riders who are tired or hurting wrists and necks. In my small club none of the R3 owners are newbies, and someone at Yamaha needs to wake up to that fact. It's a small sportbike which is great for smaller or older riders who can't or don't wish to horse around larger heavier bikes. If I was a beginner rider, I wouldn't and didn't choose an R3 type bike. Those people from the beginning want a bike they will ride for years. There are larger bikes with excellent handling and power that can also be docile, and for those the R3 is a wast of money. The transition from newbie to competent rider is only a few months.
Good review. I had a small issue with a comment you made. You said something around “if you want to sit up and not weight your wrist.” You should never weight your wrist. I do look forward to getting one of these, small but fun.
Any advice would help, here in canada the non ABS version is about the same price as a ninja 400 with ABS, these two are in my first bike list. Any advice will help, thanks.
raul castillo simplified here in canada the r3 non ABS cost $6,000, were as the kawasaki ninja 400 with ABS cost $6,000, i’m asking which is the better bang for the buck.
Both bikes are quite good, but they're different. It would be best if you could get a test ride on both to see what works best for you. We're hoping to do a comparison of the two in the near future.
@@conrebergsma1473 yeah um guessing so. I mailed Yamaha in cape town and they said they have new 2018 models for R72k. But they waitin on 2019 models to be shipped. Which year is the one you saw?
In the US and Aus and some other countries 300 is a beginner bike. Need something that'll still do the 110km speed on the open motorways and take off the at the lights with speed against V6 cars
What the hell would you call a "beginner" bike then? A damn scooter? If you want to get into sport riding this IS the beginner bike for it. I started on a 600 F4i
Beautiful bike 😍

Great review, very much looking forward to the Ninja 400 comparison!
Yamaha r3's little papayas turn signals.
I like white one... It's so cool... But in India it's only in two variants black and blue..... I want white..
You're too cool aunt❤️❤️
Good review
Hi. How much is fuel concumption in city and higtway?km/l
Hi ddds,
The R3 achieves 60 mpg (US), which converts to 25.5 km/l.
Thanks,
- Nic
Sucks the blue doesn't come with ABS. But that flat black looks awesome.

Kelly Callan thanks kelly, just boggles my mind that the non ABS r3 is about the same price as the ninja 400 with ABS.
It looks pretty good, more choices the better for everyone. However, the Ninja 400 is still clearly the winner.
We expect to do a comparison story between the two bikes in the near future. Stay tuned!
Trying to find out the release date and price in South Africa but aint nobody got answers lol
For us it'll probably be same price as ninja 400. Probably 80k-85k. Saw an older model r3 going for 64k brand new

Would guess 2016/2017. Question is, are the new looks worth paying that extra 20k for🤔 guess we'll wait and see
@@conrebergsma1473 yeah true. He also said we won't be getting the matte black one. Only the one in blue will be shipped. Disappointing!
Africa will be getting ths in 2020
When r3 will come with ABS?
Ganesh Acharya it’s a $300 option on this bike..
My 18 got ABS so the do come with ABS
looks like cbr600rr from some agles
is this model come up with slipper clutch
It doesn't have vva, thats sad
Norrt right to call this a beginner's bike. It's 321cc's but that does not make it a beginner's bike.
Beginner sport biker.
