Stuart is English and last I checked Americans speak English so I'm confused why there would ever be the possibility of not understanding him. 😂. You do know that the Yorkshire accent is the purest (historically speaking) most accurate English accent that exists? Read Mother Tongue by fellow American Bill Bryson... a fantastic author.

“…lasts a lifetime.” Just make sure to handwash these in cold water only otherwise they will barely fit a toddler. I found out the hard way after an accidental gentle machine wash at 30º… I just bought my third goldtop submariner as I wear them all the time in winter. They are the most comfortable, cosiest jumpers I ever owned! And they look the business under a Barbour on a 1963 Norton! Great review!

I can remember the itchy jumpers, I'm pretty sure that the school uniform one was woven out of Brillo pads. The same applies to the green CCF ones we were obliged to wear. The fibres could penetrate any undergarments and get to work on your skin.

I have several pairs of Merino wool socks , they are a winter essential . Warm feet are a Must if You want to keep warm in winter along with a decent sweater ( mines a crew neck ) , another trick I use is to get a decent scarf and wrap it around My waist and under the wool pull over with which helps keep the body core warm , boiler suits hold the whole lot together helping stop draught's , neck tube , waterproof outer layer , heated grips and decent waterproof gloves , Oh and a pair yellow night driving glasses ( stops the dazzle from the modern HID head lamps on wet roads ) are about all I need for just about any cold dark winter ride & I ride pretty much 365 because I don't own a car . Thanks Stuart . Ride Safe & Ride Free .

As a finn, although living in Sweden I also understand you well enough not to have any need of translations, be it AI generated or not. My biking sweater is from some clothes warehouse, it is mostly wool with some modern material added. Warm enough, with a decent jacket over but I never ride during the winter. Although we don´t have polar bears here it is still cold enough to get frostbite, even if the temperature might be up just a little over zero. The windchill is just too much and it is very unusual for anyone to ride out in the traffic during the winter months. The offroad guys ride, and there is riding on ice (speedway) but on the roads there are no bikes to be seen. As a youngster in the seventies I used to ride until the first snow came, and start again when the daytime sun was able to melt asphalt roads but now I cowardly lengthen winter with a month on both sides. On the other hand there was a lot of stuff I used to do back then that I don´t do anymore. As we all, propably. I try do avoid rain, also and riding in dark when I can. But I still consider myself a real motorcyclist...

When I was riding (sadly can't any more) I had and still do have a problem with wool next to my skin. I had an acrilan scarf to protect my neck from the cold. Worked VERY well and didn't irritate my delicate baby skin 🤣😂The saying 'You're not a biker if'......Anything they say after that is rubbish. I never wore one of these jumpers, or a Belstaff coat or any of the other stuff to be mentioned but still considered myself a dedicated biker. Anyone who rides a bike all year round as I and countless others did was a biker through and through. Nice vid as ever Stuart. Ride safe mate.

It used to be straightforward to buy a new Submariner before scalpers entered the scene. Now, in the Philippines, any Submariner for sale is likely to be either overpriced, pre-owned, or marked up by scalpers, and you also have to be cautious of counterfeiters. It's advisable to visit a Rolex store to verify its authenticity. I would prefer to acquire a watch that is genuinely manufactured to ensure that all components are authentic.

The Submariner looks a nice bit of kit. I remember seeing them in the army surplus shop when I was a kid. They used to be on a dummy next to the flying jackets. I'm must admit I try many different ways of keeping warm and I'm thinking that looks like a good barrier to wear under my jacket. Biggest problem at the moment is keeping my hands warm, heated grips are very good but still don't protect fingers enough as your constantly using controls and even more so at night. Its can be quite expensive trying different gloves as well.

    • @stewy62
      @stewy62 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don’t know if it’s the way I hold my handlebars but it’s my thumbs that get cold even with heated grips. A few weeks ago I bought a cheap (£7.99) pair of handlebar mitts from TEMU just to act as a windbreak and in combination with the heated grips I’m now quite happy. They don’t claim to be waterproof and I’m sure they are not, but more expensive mitts are available. I know where all the switches are on my handlebars so not being able to see them is not a problem for me, but it may be more of an issue for anyone with lots of tech and multiple switches on their bike. You do have to be aware of course that if you take a hand off the bars, to open or wipe a visor for example, you have to put your hand through the mitten opening to get your hand back on the bars. It’s not been a problem but just to avoid any panic I try to time taking my left hand off the handlebar so I’m not about to come up to a junction and need to use the clutch in a hurry 🇬🇧

man, thank you for making this video. I've been on the fence with buying one of these because, as you mention, they are expensive. It would easily be the most expensive sweater I've ever bought by a country mile. I've bought some other GoldTop stuff and they are exceptional quality gear so it does put the mind at ease knowing I'm sure to get something exceptional in the mail...but the cost is not easy for me, I can't deny.
I think I'm going with the slim fit but buying a size larger than needed for a more relaxed fit?

I have had one of these Goldtop jumpers for few years. I love it. But you have to be careful about the jacket or coat you wear with this type of jumper. While buttoned jackets have no effect, jackets that close with a zipper can quickly ruin the front of the jumper. As long as the jacket is closed, and has a wind flap, no problem. But when, for example, you walk with the jacket open, the left side of the zipper acts like a "saw" and destroys the look of the jumper and wears it out prematurely.

Just listened to the French version and it seemed OK to me. I mean, still didn’t understand it all but the voice was pleasant enough.

Just keep them out of the way of blasted moths, they play havoc with anything wool! Other than that they are the perfect cold weather under jacket garment. If they keep you warm at sea they’ll keep you warm anywhere.👍

Did you ever try the "Pull marin" from Brittany ? the come with some kind of oily wool and act like fantastic protection. Have a good ride.

At the start , I thought you was going to say the translator was going to be for those in the UK, but outside Yorkshire who don`t understand the language. Just kiddn. Live close to yourself, so in particular over the phone there can be a Darn sarrth / Up Nerth language barrier

I had one of the surplus jumpers back in he sixties when Army and Navy stores were my personal trailers. :-) It wore out but I've still got my 1952 US Army Korean War Parka. The modern ex navy and army jumbers just have a crew neck which is a pity but they do have wear patches on the shoulders and elbows so swings and roundabouts. Just as long wearing and warm as the old style though, except around the neck..

I got some of the cold air blocking pants/ shirt, axial brand. You won't be warm, but it makes a huge difference without adding much thickness. Well, unless it's warm out, then you get very hot

Hi Stuart, your dress style is nearly perfect....😂. But without joke, the clothings have the good style, I prefer my old Barbour with such a pullover futs perfect, from my point of view better than Goretex. Have all a nice weekend, weather is for Grappa or Whisky in the evening, oh sh.... time to get firewood from the garage.

The trouble i find with this type of jumper is they are terribly unflattering for my figure! I prefer merino base layer and a down jacket for insulation. Less cool factor, but effective
